Intro: We kick off tonights action here in Mexico City Arena with WWE wrestler Raquel Rodriguez making her debut. While she was born in Texas, she is proud of her Mexican heritage. She takes on tennis influencer Rachel Stuhlmann, who looks for her first ever victory in the ring. Who is going to leave with their first ever victory in the boxing ring?
Both women are very physically impressive as they squared up at the weigh in the night before. Raquel wearing a black bikini flexing her arms as Rachel smiles in a pink bikini with hands on her hips as they go chest to chest, neither looking worried about their opponent.
After that they separated and FCBA Network reporter Alicia Atout got a few words from both. First up chatting to Raquel as she has her friend Liv Morgan with her. Raquel admits to the interviewer "I am a little nervous but I am used to wrestling in front of big crowds, this won't be that much different."
When asked about meeting someone her own height. Raquel replies "Rachel can go eye to eye with me but she ain't got my power. I will give her another loss on her record to travel home with." Liv hands Raquel a black satin robe to wear as both friends chat as they walk away.
Rachel meanwhile puts on a pink silk robe as she talks to her coach. Alicia comes over to them as Rachel smiles warmly to her. The influencer tells Alicia "I can't wait to box Raquel. I know she'll be the one getting cheered but we are pretty even build wise. This could be a nasty fight and I aim to punch her lights out to show whose the dominant woman between us." Keeping her message short and sweet as she walks off with her coach.
Fight Night! Raquel is the first out wearing a red, white and green pattern sports bra like a Mexican flag pattern. She has similar trunks with the white Texan bull on each side to show she is proud of both her roots. Green boots and red gloves with her hair braided finishes her look off. She climbs into the ring to a loud roar from the crowd, nodding to them with a smile before tapping her cheeks to focus herself for this big girl battle.
Rachel now walks down the aisle to a mixed response. She is wearing a light green sports bra, matching trunks and shoes, white gloves with green thumbs and her hair is in a braid too. She climbs into the ring with a grin as boos rain on her. She has a quick word with her coach before turning back to stare hard at her opponent.
The fighters walk to the middle of the ring for the face off. Raquel looks more toned but Rachel isn't a slouch in her weight training. There's a few words being exchanged that only the fighters can hear. Touching gloves with a crack of leather showing it isn't the most friendly touch you'll ever see. They walk back to their corners looking all business. Once ready the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1: Off they go with Raquel looking to please her fans right away with straight punches square into the face of her opponent. Rachel finding herself being pushed back to the outside part of the ring, she needs to give Raquel a push to her chest to create space to land a jab/straight into the face of the her foe.
The crowd is fired up for Rodriguez as she keeps the heat on her opponent. Rachel taking several solid hits square into her face, her coach not looking best pleased as she is being bullied at times back to the ropes before she holds on to force the referee to step in to break them up. Raquel tapping her gloves together before they resume as she looks keen to hurt Stuhlmann.
Late in the round Rachel slips a straight to land a short right into the stomach of the wrestler. A short left hook follows to the ribs as Rachel looks to take the fight back to Raquel. They exchange in close as thuds can be heard when they land clean. The round ends with Raquel raising her arms into the air as she smiles warmly, the crowd roaring and whistling for her as Rachel shakes her head on her way back to her corner.
Round 2: Nodding to her coach before the bell, Rachel comes out thrusting out her jab and moving more side to side. Raquel not able to rush her as easily. With both slamming in straight punches to their opponents face to mark them up. Raquel just misses with a left hook as Rachel leans out the way to land a counter right in return to the nose of Rodriguez to a few boos.
Rachel starting to put her punches together. Raquel slowing down as she starts to think more about what she is doing. A double jab slams into the chest of Raquel before a right cross lands as Rachel looks to be gaining in confidence. Holding the middle of the ring now.
But before Rachel can get too comfortable, she is met with a right cross on her jaw to make her take a step backwards. Both let their hands go to try to make the other woman respect them. The cracks of leather ring as neither is playing around. The bell dings with both women walking back to their corners looking fired up.
Round 3: Resuming with their eyes locked; Rachel is showing some improvement from her early career fights to keep her jab buried into the face of her opponent, trying not to be pinned down. Raquel meanwhile does manage to land several punches around the chest of her foe to keep Rachel honest here.
A left cross catches Raquel on her cheek, Rachel steps forwards with a follow up jab/right hook combo. Raquel finds herself covering up on the ropes as boos rain down on the ring. Rachel swinging in hooks till she is nudged back by Raquel with her left forearm, an uppercut then catches Rachel to snap back her head to make her take two steps back.
On comes Raquel with just over a minute to go as the crowd cheers again. Raquel pinning down Rachel on the other set of ropes as the influencer looks a little sheepish. She has to hold onto Raquel to stop the assault. They are broken up with Rachel staring a little wide eyed as she got the full power of her foe. They exchange straight punches till the round comes to a close.
On their stools they sit with both big girls getting wiped down. Cheeks reddening up as both have a dig to them. Even though some will argue Rachel is ahead, she looks tense as she stares at Raquel. Who is tapping her toes looking keen to get back to action.
Round 4: Rachel starts off similar to how she has the last two rounds. Raquel though steps in with a jab to the chest of Rachel to open her up to a right hook over the top to the jaw of the influencer. Rachel finding herself being pushed back into a neutral corner as she looks to be having flash backs of previous fights, getting whacked with some hooks to her cheeks.
The influencer manages to push off Raquel to open up space to get out the corner. Problem for her is Raquel isn't looking to let her get too far away. A straight lands on her nose before a left hook lands on it. Blood starting to flow from the nostrils of Stuhlmann to add to her worries as she wipes her nose with her left glove to see the blood.
Final minute sees Rachel trying to fight back but the power and control is on the side of Rodriguez. The wrestler showing her power as more blood starts to run from the nose of Rachel, staining the gloves of Raquel. A left hook catches Rachel on her jaw to open her up to an uppercut to send her back onto the ropes. The bell rings to end the round as Rachel looks worried to say the least. Her nose being worked on as she takes a few deep breaths to try to keep cool. Raquel meanwhile has to be told by her coach to sit down as she is buzzing.
Round 5: Not long into the round and already the nose of Rachel to cause it to start bleeding again. She is shipping punches through to her face as her guard is in disarray. An uppercut catches her chin to open her up as her legs shake. A POUNDING RIGHT HOOK ON THE CHIN SENDS RACHEL DOWN ONTO HER BACK!
A loud cheer rings out around them as the crowd are on their feet. Raquel smiling as she heads to the neutral corner. 1....2....3....4... Rachel groans as she turns her head to the left. 5....6....7... Blood dripping off onto the canvas from her nose. 8....9....10 that's it for this fight!
Winner Raquel Rodriguez KO Round 5
After: What a way to make your debut as Raquel gets her first victory in a place that means the world to her. She fights back tears as she looks around herself to the cheering crowd. She returns to her corner to a warm embrace from her coach. Who tells her how proud they are of her.
All the while Rachel is checked over by her coach and the ringside doctor. She is helped to sit up and her nose is cleaned up as tissue paper is placed inside her nostrils. She sobs as she certainly thought she could win this and instead she felt the raw power of the pro wrestler.
Once Rachel is ok, she is helped out of the ring. Shaking her head as this is a disheartening defeat. The losses racking up certainly look to be draining her confidence in herself, she had several good moments but once the power shots really started to land on her, well she regressed and now is leaving to no real fanfare.
In the ring after being wiped down and given a drink. Raquel heads to the center of the ring with her blood stained gloves still on. Getting her left hand raised in victory to a loud roar from the crowd. Raquel nods to the fans as tears run down her cheeks.
She composes herself to flex her arms to show off what other welterweights will have to deal with. Those muscles are not just for show, she has real power in her fists that if she gets her technical skills down, she could be a dark horse to become a world champion in celebrity female boxing someday.
For now she leaves the ring with her coach to her left. She looks excited to fight again soon, surely she will have gotten herself noticed for next year's Boxermania card? What Welterweights are going to want to deal with her once she learns the ropes fully on her ring craft? |
