FIGHT SUMMARY:
This is one of the many opening fights in the opening salvo of the Cougar Grand Tourney, with a respectable host of veteran fighters set to do battle in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada.

Kate Beckinsale may not be the favorite to win this, but she sure as hell looks like she’s having a good time, bouncing into the hall earlier with a spritely step and wide smile. Who knows? When the pressure’s off your shoulders, sometimes you’ll find your performance improving. The VIX head honcho is wearing her signature blue sports bra and long black tights, for once getting spotted by Luisana Lopilato and Hannah Ferguson in her corner.

Her opponent is Sarah Shahi, former Odds & Ends alumni and a sheer goddess in the sport in her own right, Sarah recently falling to Kat Winnick, another entrant in this tourney, and hoping to secure a comeback. She’s dressed in a golden bikini top and white trunks, going for that chic and regal look.

The first few rounds kick off without much of a fuss, both ladies targeting faces and bodies with a practiced grace. Kate’s fight plan appears to target Sarah’s head, whether it’s the forehead or chin, constantly making Shahi guess from afar as she’s hounded with a steady stream of jabs and crosses.

Sarah chooses to rely on her heavy hooks, by contrast, lathering leather on the Brit’s tummy to drive her back to the ropes at several instances. And for a moment, Kate appears to be troubled with the amount of punishment she’s taking to her stomach.

By the fifth, both ladies are visibly tiring, doing more circling than trying to rush in for the kill. This is where Kate’s busier schedule comes into play, however, as she seizes the opportunity to rush Shahi down at several moments, punching high and low, and scoring hooks to her gut to send her butt-first into the ropes.

Shahi puts up a valiant effort all the way to the sixth, when she’s caught by a clean right overhand to the temple, which sends her down for good! Kate only celebrates briefly before walking over to check on her foe. The Vixen has got bigger fish to fry and her eyes set on other potential nemeses on her way to the top, but that doesn’t mean she should be unprofessional in victory.

Overall, it’s a good kick off to this tournament, with Hannah and Luisana cheering their boss on from the corner. Good win for Kate Beckinsale, who advances!
