After beating McCarthy in the opening round of this tourney, Chastain has to face a distinct possibility of eventually coming face-to-face with her fellow Cougar Doll, Katheryn Winnick. Of course, come what may, and the redhead is still in good spirits and grinning at the prospect of advancing another round. She definitely wasn’t expecting to win this tourney when it first kick-started, but a good win here in the Elite 8 will certainly lift her prospects further. As for Salma Hayek, she too picked up an important win on Kate Mara in the first round, and now looks to cement her spot if she can KO the Doll.

First two rounds are a slower affair, and what can you expect of these Cougars who are already pushing themselves to the very limits of their physical endurance? They spend most of the round jabbing at each other’s heads, Chastain once in a while landing a stiff underhook to the body to push Hayek backwards. Nothing major, nothing spectacular… so far, with Chastain and Hayek each taking a round a piece.

Middle minute and Hayek wants to employ some of that power in her wider hips, surprising the redhead with a sudden lunge towards her head and on more than one occasion sending her reeling towards the ropes when that hook landed stiff on the arms. Chastain’s ears must be ringing as she doesn’t get out of the pocket in time, thinking she can hang and bang with the fiery Latina. Hayek makes her pay for her overconfidence, banging another series of hooks off that toned midsection before almost taking her head off with a lunging uppercut.

Chastain, however, gets the last laugh, remaining patient as she walks at a distance, plowing more left-right combos straight to the face, snapping Hayek’s head back. Chastain has the speed and agility that comes with her height, and as Hayek herself slows down, she’s letting more and more of those punches get through her slower guard. Chastain, being methodical as always, rocking another right cross right between the eyes to send Hayek stumbling into the nearby ropes with a loud grunt.

All eyes on Salma and whether she can survive the sixth round and storm back into contention… But Chastain decides it’s time to strike, repeatedly targeting the head till Salma gets overwhelmed, another deft hook snapping her head to the side, the rest of her heaving body following suit, till the big brunette loses her balance and collapses to her knees! Hayek tries to get back up, but doesn’t manage to beat the count! It’s all OVER and Chastain makes it into the final 4 with another impressive performance!
