Before:
It’s a fight between two actresses at different points in their careers. McMann still a relative newcomer in the FCBA but she has made her mark with 20 wins and is undefeated this year. Lively is nearly ten years her senior and has bounced around from stable to stable before joining Fates this year. The All American Dream Girl has had a career with Fates with her first year with over 10 fights and the blonde is sitting at a 9-4 record.
The two women enter the press conference and keep it respectful.
“When Fates offered us a spot on the card, we knew we had to take it.” Kennedy tells the press. “Blake has come back to be one of the top fighters and I want to show the FCBA that I belong in the conversation.”
“McMann has not lost in 18 months and has fought a lot.” Blake says. “She is an up and coming fighter, but we will see if she is good enough to beat me.”
Fight night and Kennedy enters first, the redhead shedding her robe to reveal a white sports bra with matching trunks and green gloves, her hair in a bun for the fight. Lively enters moments later, the blonde not even wearing a robe as she shows off her figure in a black sports bra and spandex bottoms with matching gloves, the blonde slowly making her way to the ring as she waves to the crowd. The two women thump gloves and the bell rings for ten rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
Blake and Kennedy start out at a quick pace and circle each other and trading jabs. Blake with the longer reach but Kennedy is faster. McMann dipping and dodging with ease as she lands a left into Lively’s face. Blonde girl annoyed and the Fates girl buries leather into the redhead’s midriff and the younger girl clinches. After the break, McMann takes control, putting her speed to her advantage as she dances around the bigger girl, tagging Lively’s body with lefts and rights and frustrating the veteran. Blake not landing many punches and Kennedy taking advantage, drawing the blonde out to lunge and hitting her face. Lively retreats and McMann pursues her, and now the blonde finds a left that connects. McMann now drops back but Lively can’t find a clean blow before the bell, and the redhead takes the first round on points.
Round 2:
Both women again start at a quick pace for the second round and McMann starts out with a dip to her left to tag Lively’s ribs. Blake drops back and Kennedy steps up only to take a short right into her liver. Lively with the left follow up and McMann backpedaling as she keeps her gloves up. Blake keeping up the pressure and forces the smaller girl into the ropes with a slight nudge and Blake connects with a left to Kennedy’s ribs. McMann holding her ground and strikes the blonde with a right. Kennedy follows up with a left that barely misses Blake’s head and the Fates girl slugs the younger actress with a right and Kennedy clinches. The two girls are pulled apart and Blake lands a straight out of the break, and Kennedy backpedals and she avoids the older girl for the rest of the round.
Round 3:
McMann hears a lot from the Front Street trainers between the rounds and whatever they said worked as McMann buries leather into Lively’s face to start the round. Blake may not have the longest legs on Fates but she has legs that are long enough to get some distance between herself and her foe and the two women start circling each other. Lively jabs at McMann’s head before swiping at her body, tagging the smaller girl’s ribs and now it is the redhead’s turn to give up ground. Blake with a left feint before connecting with a right to Kennedy’s body but the blonde’s head snaps back as Kennedy connects with a right of her own. McMann with a follow up into Lively’s jaw and the former champ is stunned! Kennedy working Blake into the ropes and working her body over to the bell and Blake is nearly doubled over going to her corner.
Round 4:
Kennedy on the verge of the biggest win of her career and she starts out the fourth round sticking and shifting, moving away from Blake’s counter punches. Lively slow to move and hurting, her midriff red from the beating she took the prior round. McMann shifts right and fakes a left and Lively shifts only to take a right straight to her jaw! Kennedy with a lightning fast one-two-three punches into the blonde’s face and down goes Blake! McMann scoring the first knockdown and Lively is crawling to the ropes. The blonde actress latches on to the bottom rope at the count of five and drags herself to her feet by seven. The ref gives the mandatory and waves McMann back in. Kennedy and Front Street excited to put the fight away and the redhead girl’s head snaps back as Blake connects with all of her punch! McMann staggered and Lively snaps the younger girl’s head back again with another right. Kennedy in the ropes and Blake plunges leather into her solar plexus. McMann gasps and doubles over before Lively snaps her back up. The bell rings to save the younger girl, and Kennedy still gasps on her way back to her corner.
Round 5:
Anyone who missed the fourth round would think Blake was the one who scored the knockdown as she leaves her corner and shows off her power, knocking Kennedy around the ring as the thuds of her gloves into Kennedy’s body echo around the arena. Lively working in close as she pounds McMann’s torso and the redhead nudges her back for relief. Kennedy is able to get a right into Blake’s midriff but Blake does not care as she sticks a short uppercut into Kennedy’s jaw! McMann stunned and she wobbles back and forth despite still standing up. Lively with all day to line up her follow up and snaps McMann’s head to her left as she connects with a right cross and the redhead hits the canvas. Lively to the corner as the ref starts the count, but it’s a formality as McMann can barely lift her head up and move her arms. The ref reaches ten and your winner by KO5, Blake Lively!
After:
Blake raises her fists in triumph as she quickly mounts the ring post. The Front Street corner heartbroken as Kennedy had her chance in the fourth but could not handle Blake’s surge after she got knocked down. Lively exits the ring to pose with her fans while ignoring the girl she defeated.
“I said she could not handle me and frankly neither can the rest of the FCBA.” Blake declares. “Now some advice to the next girl who says she is the next big thing who is going to push me out of the way - don’t do it because you are not good enough.”
McMann speaks to the press later, the redhead clearly frustrated by the result. “I should have had her in the fourth,” the Front Street girl says. “I’m still climbing the ladder and one day I will get a rematch.”
