Pre-Fight: We have another cougar bout between the League of Mighty Women and the Global Boxing Syndicate. This time top management from both sides will be facing each other as LMW’s Sharon Horgan takes up on GBS’ Elizabeth Hurley. Sharon recently defeated GBS’ Jennifer Lopez and Elizabeth didn’t take it well. These two also had a heated argument last year after Liz defeated Sharon’s frenemy Melanie Sykes. Therefore, it is safe to say that these two don’t like each other and want to leave this fight as the victor, while seeing their opponent defeated.

Sharon opens the pre-fight press conference as she addresses the audience. “Liz and I have our differences and we both wanted to have a go at each other since our post-fight interaction after her bout with Melanie. Therefore, I’m looking forward to finally getting my hands on her and giving her the humbling she so clearly needs! Of course she is more experienced, but I showed that I’m a tough fighter and that I can deal with experienced fighters in my last bout, which I am sure Liz is aware of!”

Elizabeth seems amused by her opponent’s remarks as she begins her own address with a smirk on her face. “Yes, I am aware that you got lucky against Jennifer (Lopez) after she gave you a good beating, but you won’t be so lucky this time. After our last interaction, I also gave you a chance to know your place and shut your mouth, but you continue to be a nuisance, so I’ll make sure you learn your place this time. You say you’ll humble me, but you’ll get humiliated when I’m done with you and give you a walk of shame!” Her last words lead to an argument between the two about who will be getting humiliated in the end as they stand up and get in each other’s faces. However, it is their coaches, Ali Landry and Jeri Ryan whose argument at the back of the podium gets out of hand as they start swinging at each other. The security and both camps rush to separate the two before they can do any damage and both sides are escorted back to their respective locker rooms to put an end to this tense press conference.

It is fight night and Sharon comes out first accompanied by her corner team with the noticeable absence of Ali as both she and Jeri have been barred from the ringside for this event. Sharon looks focused as she makes her way to the ring. She waves to the crowd as they cheer for her and once she enters the ring she points at Melanie, who sits on the front row, and raises her eyebrows as if to say she will deal with her later. Melanie gives her a cold stare as former frenemies seem to be moving closer to being just enemies after what happened at the lightweight title bout last month.

Sharon is wearing an orange sports bra, matching trunks and white gloves. She will be fighting barefoot and her hair is tied into a ponytail.

Next comes Elizabeth with her corner team, but as mentioned earlier she is also missing her coach. She gets a big cheer from the crowd as she waves and blows kisses to them on her way to the ring. Once she sees Melanie, she rolls her eyes and ignores her as Melanie gives her a cold stare as well. Melanie will probably be in a more pleasant mood as the action starts and two of her rivals start beating each other.

Liz is wearing a baby blue sports bra, matching trunks and black gloves. She will also be fighting barefoot and her hair is tied into a sleek ponytail.

Both fighters come to the center of the ring to receive final instructions from the referee, but neither of them goes for the touch of gloves afterwards as the tension is high between the two. They step back to their respective corners and we are ready for 10 rounds of welterweight cougar action!

Fight: Round 1: It is clear that they mean business as they quickly meet in the center of the ring and start trading leather right away. Elizabeth lands a one-two combo up top, while Sharon answers with a jab to the abs and a hook to the ribs. After a few blocked and missed shots, Liz finds the target again with a straight and then goes to the body with a shovel hook. They continue to stand and trade as Sharon finds the mark with a double jab-straight combo, while Liz keeps targeting the body with a few more shovel hooks. An uppercut to the abs by Liz finally forces Sharon to step back as this long opening exchange comes to an end. They keep trading for the rest of the round with shorter exchanges with varying success.

Action packed opening round comes to an end with both fighters landing some good shots, but Liz was a bit more effective with her punching and therefore takes the early lead on the scorecards. Without their coaches, both fighters are left with their own thoughts during the break as they are cleaned up by the rest of their corner teams.

Round 2: Both fighters are bouncing on their toes, keen to resume the action and they do so as soon as the bell rings. Liz greets her opponent with two stiff jabs, but Sharon pushes through and gets inside to land a couple of hard body shots. Liz creates some space with a shoulder bump and lands an uppercut to the chin. It stops Sharon momentarily, but then she comes back with more body shots forcing Liz to clinch. They keep hitting each other from the clinch, but as Liz targets the kidney area, the referee quickly separates them and warns Liz.

As the action resumes, Sharon starts controlling the pace and Liz gets a bit more defensive. The Irish fighter pushes back her Brit rival with short combinations that alternate between head and body to keep her opponent guessing. Liz lands some counterpunches in the meantime, but she keeps losing ground until the bell.

Sharon looked better in this round as there were times Liz failed to match her intensity. The score is tied and Liz doesn’t look happy with her performance this round as she bangs her gloves with a cold stare towards her opponent.

Round 3: Sharon is on the attack at the beginning of the round as she wants to press on with her advantage. She lands a one-two combo before Liz can tighten her guard. Her next combo gets blocked and then Liz counters with a big hook to the ribs. Sharon tries to answer with a hook up top, but Liz ducks down and lands another hook to the ribs that makes her Irish opponent wince and step back.

When they engage again, both fighters get the same idea to go inside and attack the body, so they end up in a close quarters exchange. Their bodies grind at each other as both fighters struggle for position with shoulder bumps and forearm shoves, while landing blow after blow to each other’s abs and ribs. It is becoming a very physical fight as neither fighter is backing down and they continue to exchange body shots from close range.

It was a hard-fought round and both fighters have marks over their bodies to show for it. There wasn’t much to separate the two either, but Liz ended up doing a bit more damage with her body shots, so she leads the scorecards once again.

Round 4: Both fighters are being more careful at the start of the fourth round as they start to feel the effects of those body shots. They throw short combinations from distance early on, but without much success. So they slowly start to close the distance and test each other’s defense once again. Sharon’s jab gets blocked, but then a cross slips through Liz’s guard and lands on target. Sharon tries to follow up with a hook, but Liz ducks and lands a hook of her own to the Irish fighter’s ribs. Sharon goes for another jab and Liz ducks down again, but Sharon was faking so she lands a big uppercut to the Brit’s chin. Liz stumbles and then she is forced further back by a one-two combo. With her back against the ropes, she clinches with her opponent and pulls her towards the ropes too. They start wrestling for position as they hit each other from the clinch. Liz lands a couple more kidney shots as they start to tangle with the ropes and the referee separates them and warns Liz that this is her final warning before point deduction. As soon as the action restarts, they go at each other, brawling style, landing some wild punches and then clinch once again to start pushing each other around until the bell rings and the referee ends up having to separate them one more time.

Sharon wins the round with her performance in the middle of the round and ties the score again, but that ending was pure chaos and this fight can go anywhere from here. They intently stare at each other, while their corner crews wipe the sweat off their bodies.

Round 5: After the heated ending to the previous round, both fighters throw caution to the wind and go at each other again. They are slugging it out with body shots and wild swings up top. With the way they are going at it, this fight won’t last for long. Liz lands a couple of hooks to the ribs and then follows it with another hook to the jaw that rocks her opponent. She is starting to take control of the action as she lands an uppercut to the abs followed by a one-two combo to the face. Sharon is backing away, but she is unsteady on her feet. Liz scores with another jab and then steps in with a big hook to the jaw. That last blow drops Sharon on her back! Liz looks confident as she walks towards the neutral corner, while the referee begins the count! 1…2…3… Sharon groans in pain as she rolls over 4…5… she struggles for a bit, but she gets on all fours 6…7…8… she takes a moment to muster her strength and then gets up on her feet. The referee quickly checks Sharon, who raises her guard to show that she can continue, so the action restarts!

Elizabeth comes after her opponent with short combinations and Sharon is having a hard time dealing with them. The experienced Brit switches targets and starts pounding Sharon’s body. She is not putting too much pressure though as she lets Sharon do enough defending to avoid referee stoppage. She might regret this tactic later, but she is playing around with Sharon at the moment. Liz scores with a few hard shovel hooks, which drive Sharon back to the ropes. A one-two combination up top leaves Sharon defenseless, so Liz quickly clinches with her to prolong the fight. She traps her opponent’s arm in the clinch, opposite the referee, and starts pounding away with shovel hooks to Sharon’s battered body. This thing turns into a nasty beating and it is only after Sharon slumps over Liz’s shoulder that the referee finally stops the fight! It is a very late stoppage!

Official Result: Winner via TKO in round 5, Elizabeth Hurley!

Post-Fight: Liz looks absolutely delighted as she celebrates her victory in Sharon’s face, who is being docile after the beating she took. Liz quickly gets her gloves taken off and catches her opponent before she can be helped to her corner stool. “Where are you going? I’m not done with you, yet! It is time for your walk of shame!” With that Liz wrapped her arm around Sharon’s waist and put Sharon’s arm over her shoulder to start walking her around the ring to show off her trophy, while Sharon can only groan and follow orders.

Liz stops by the side Melanie is sitting at to have a quick word with her as she keeps the sagging Sharon in her grasp. “I don’t care if you call each other frenemies, friends or enemies. At the end of the day, you two deserve each other, because you’re both losers!” She continues to walk Sharon as Melanie fumes at the ringside. When she reaches Sharon’s corner, she dumps her unceremoniously and then returns to the center of the ring to get her hand raised by the referee. In the meantime, Sharon is helped off the ring so that she can receive medical treatment backstage.

Another big win by Elizabeth against one of her rival managers to strengthen her bragging rights. She proved once again that experience matters. As for Sharon, it will be a hard tough loss to recover from and it is bad timing too as she also has to deal with her souring relations with Melanie.
