BEFORE: Nina Dobrev feels like she's got little to prove after passing the one hundred fights milestone and if there's anyone who can gain anything from this fight it's the social media sensation Addison Rae. The Louisiana native fell to Sasha Pieterse on her debut and most experts believe she's picked an impossible schedule given Dobrev's career numbers but it's all about making that one giant splash and stealing the headlines right away. Rae doesn't take no for an answer and claims she's ready to face the future(?) Hall of Famer who has a tricky fight versus Natalie Alyn Lind set up for the July PPV as well. It's truly game on for both of these women tonight!
Nina Dobrev wears a violet bikini set with black trim & silver gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a half-up ponytail. Addison Rae wears a black bikini set & red gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a custom ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Addison stuns the local crowd by simply gashing Nina up the middle and the action turns into a dominant blonde performance seconds from the bell as she tears Nina's guard down and lays it into her like there's no tomorrow. Nina didn't expect such a treatment and before she knows it, she's backed into the ropes with Rae raining punches like skittles and knocking her head back in repeated fashion. Oh, hello? Addison cranks up the heat and gets vocal as she buries the stunned brunette before a lenghty earmuff cover and there's nothing Dobrev can do about this epic charge but just hang on and hope Addison doesn't land that one mighty haymaker... and she doesn't but the Rogers Centre is shocked to see their favorite bullied in the ring wholesale to open the fight.
Rounds 2 & 3:
Nina is forced to claw back some respect and she does it the hard way since Addison shows no signs of slowing down here. She keeps plugging along and smacks several clean hits into the brunette's face but Nina withstands the challenge and pays back the favor which triggers a back & forth exchange that slowly neutralizes the blonde's gung ho approach. Not for long though as Rae lines a left/right combo on the chin and wobbles Dobrev to her heels before shutting her down along the ropes. Nina weaves around on her feet but remains trapped in less-than-ideal position while the TikTok star only racks up more clean shots on target to further silence the Rogers crowd.
Round 4:
Finally Nina stamps her authority on this contest and drops some heavy bombs into the blonde's face. However it only comes after Nina jumps into her sixth gear, something she shouldn't be doing versus someone in her second FCBA fight... unless Rae is the real deal. Too early to call this one and the blonde is knocked around the area but she still refuses to back off even risking some major injury according to Erin Andrews in the booth. She wants to stay in the slugging lane but Dobrev gives her no easy outs and pounds her back to the turnbuckle where she adds some extra midriff heat to sink the blonde into noticeable spasms come the bell.
Round 5:
Addison roars back into contention by landing a left/right combo on the brunette's chin but then comes the money shot that nails Dobrev on the nose and slumps her into spasms just as the blonde rips another left hook on the temple... and that punch FLOORS THE CANADIAN WOMAN amid a stunned silence inside the Rogers Centre. Nina hits the deck and blinks frantically as the referee begins the count and there are some long stares in the LCA corner where coach Eva Mendes shakes her head in disbelief. Nina avoids the ultimate drama and beats the count at seven but Addison is glued all over here afterwards and wants to end this fight ASAP! The rush of blood prevents a methodical finish alas Nina remains in seriou trouble hugging the ropes and having to rely on her footwork to escape an upset storyline... for the time being. Ref pulls Addison away at the half-distance bell but she's ready to dance her way into that maiden victory anyway!
Round 6:
Addison tries to clean up the seemingly hurting opponent but Nina rises above the reserve value and keeps it competitive through the sixth which makes the blonde lose her temper. The hits still come thick & fast but it takes another elite series to knock Dobrev out of the park and Rae is unable to find it again. She settles for the back & forth display before going all-in late on only to fall into the brunette's counter-punching efforts that allow the former champion to restore the Lioness hopes and inject more faith into the crowd as well. Addison still tries to sling it but takes a couple of nasty licks over the top and grinds into a halt just as Nina laces her in the liver area and leaves the TikTok youngster aching in pain at the bell instead.
Round 7:
Nina rolls out the slugging drive and finds Addison ready to match the effort... until the blonde gets busted with a left heater on the nose twenty seconds into the round and slumps to her heels which allows the Canadian to mount immediate pressure rally and blast the unstable foe back to the ropes. Rae tries to avoid the looming trap but keeps eating more shots up the middle as her guard suddenly goes away wholesale. She dekes to the right but trips over her own feet and gets SMOKED by a vintage liver shot that drops her into all kinds of pain!!! DOWN SHE GOES ONTO HER KNEES and that's a good take for a TikTok video right here. Nina struts back to her corner still going verbal on coach Mendes but she's done enough to keep Addison down on her knees throughout the count and she escapes with a KO7 come-from-behind victory after all.
AFTER: Addison had this fight won... and then she couldn't close it out! Typical rookie error but she still looked impressive going seven plus rounds against the mighty experienced Nina Dobrev who in turn rejects the narrative she underestimated the social media starlet. However if she wanted to scare Natalie Alyn Lind off before the upcoming PPV fight then she probably came a few style points short of the mark. No wonder coach Eva Mendes doesn't look that satisfied while escorting the fellow brunette back to the locker room. Sometimes an ugly win could be a sign of bad things to come and while technically Nina has nothing left to prove anymore then she can't quite sit on the laurels at age 34 either.
