SIX DEBUTS IN SEARCH OF AN ASYLUM: A NEW BEGINNING

BEFORE:

"I was wondering when somebody up here would give me a chance," says Emily with a gorgeous smile. "Well, here it is, and I'm going to show everyone I belong!"

"It's not personal with Emily," says Peyton with a nod. "It's just that I've been fighting a long time to get where I am, and she's in my way. Not a good place to be."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Rebel Girl' by Bikini Kill and here comes IG model Emily Elizabeth!"

McCarthy: "Another wannabe with NO FCBA wins!"

Tess: "AGAIN...NEVERMIND!"

McCarthy: "What's YOUR problem, Walmart?"

O'Dell (sighing): "Emily into the ring and helped off with the robe, and she's looking VERY good in that bubblegum pink number she's wearing..."

Tess: "Nobody looks good in that color. It's awful..."

All I wanna eat is cherry licorice

I don't care if it sounds ridiculous

O'Dell: "And, that's 'Cherry Licorice' by the Felice Brothers, and that can only mean that 'The Cobra' Peyton List is on her way to the ring..."

Cassie: "Peyton put together a very good year last year, and she wants to keep that going in 2023."

O'Dell: "List into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, looking good as always in that baby blue number she likes. Ladies about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Peyton. Mac?"

McCarthy: "NO FCBA wins. List."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "And, we're underway. List getting right to work at range here. List loves ranged boxing. She's got good reach for this weight and likes using it. Emily willing to fight on these terms, but right now, she's coming out second best."

Tess: "List getting into rhythm in a hurry."

O'Dell: "Definitely is. She's got Emily on the defensive, not with power shots, but with volume. Peyton putting together flurry after flurry here, building off that long left jab. Emily countering in spots, but that's about all she's managing..."

Cassie: "Smart stuff from Peyton. Not going to let the tyro get the butterflies out..."

O'Dell: "She is not. Instead, List getting plenty of work done, as she's built a solid lead in this stanza. GOOD combination, Peyton, as she snaps back Emily's head with a right hand, and there's the bell. Not close at all. List takes the first."

McCarthy: "And grabs the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second underway and Emily wants new terms. She's working forward to middle distances now and getting off quickly, landing punches in bunches and throwing Peyton to the defensive. This is a very nice adjustment from a girl in her first FCBA fight..."

McCarthy: "I like this kid already. Might have to talk to Sceej about signing her..."

O'Dell: "Elizabeth moving the head and feet, slipping that jab, then stepping in, but not closing. Getting to her spots and getting off, forcing List to cover up, then slipping back outside before Peyton can fire back. It's good stuff from the less-experienced blonde..."

Tess: "Peyton was IN rhythm and Emily's got her OUT of rhythm."

O'Dell: "Definitely does. Down under 30 seconds remaining in this round, and it's been Emily's from the beginning. SHARP exchange there, and List lands her best punch of the round, but it's too little, too late. There's the bell. Emily. Wide."

Cassie: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "More of the same in the third. It's all about that left jab from Peyton and Emily's ability to slip it, dip past it, get to middle distances where she can get off in combination. List determined to WORK that jab, keep Elizabeth away, but she can't do it at the moment."

Cassie: "Emily very quick and moves extremely well."

O'Dell: "She's definitely showcasing some things right now, which is what you want to do in your first FCBA fight. Managers are watching this, and WILL be watching this. Elizabeth is a gorgeous girl with a rising profile. Definitely has potential."

McCarthy: "She MIGHT even make 'Playboy'. Not as a CENTERFOLD. But, she MIGHT sneak in..."

O'Dell: "We're down to ten seconds remaining in the third. Another nice flurry from Elizabeth forces List to cover up. Peyton gives a little ground, lands a nice left hand, and there's the bell. No doubt about it for the third round in a row. Emily."

Tess: "And, Elizabeth takes the 29-28 lead."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth begins with an adjustment from Peyton. She's giving a little ground now, giving herself a chance to get that jab on target and keep Emily at gunnery range. Elizabeth still working forward, looking to get inside her rival's defenses..."

Tess: "Both girls having some success, too."

O'Dell: "Definitely are. It's good, two-way stuff this stanza. Elizabeth scoring as she has been when she gets past her rival's glove, and Peyton able to put punches together in bunches when she can work from range, get her box on."

Cassie: "Peyton definitely getting more comfortable now."

O'Dell: "Sure is, but there's not much in it as we come down the stretch. Neither woman has been able to take any sort of control or build any kind of a lead. We're down under ten seconds. Sharp exchange and another and there's the bell. Nobody gets the points. Draw."

McCarthy: "And, Emily still has the lead 39-38."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Into the fifth now and the two-way stuff continuing. Peyton in charge when they're working at range, Emily getting the better of things at middle distances, and both fighters getting some, but not nearly enough, of the terms they want..."

Cassie: "I'm impressed with Emily. This hasn't been too big for her."

O'Dell: "Definitely has not. Peyton's taken a lot of strides this last year or so, and Emily hasn't just hung with her, she's given her all she can handle and THERE'S A RIGHT HAND BY PEYTON! Caught Elizabeth coming in. Emily's hurt and DOWN GOES ELIZABETH after a three punch flurry!"

McCarthy: "GET UP, YOU BUM! GET UP!"

O'Dell: "Elizabeth down on her right side. Peyton to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Emily rolls to her belly at six. Seven. Eight. Pushing up to hands and knees. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Elizabeth can't get off all fours and it's OVER! And your winner by KO5 is 'The Cobra' Peyton List!"

Tess: "Really finished well there. Didn't let Emily off the hook."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Peyton List, and Peyton, it wasn't easy in there..."

Peyton: "Didn't expect it to be. She's a girl with talent. She made a nice adjustment there, wasn't going to let me fight my fight. So, I had to make one of my own. I've learned to do that. And, it made the difference."

Tess: "2022 was your best year in the FCBA. Good start to 2023..."

Peyton (smiling): "There's no doubt THIS can be a huge year for me. But, it's up to ME. And, I'm going to make sure it happens."
