SIX DEBUTS IN SEARCH OF AN ASYLUM: A NEW BEGINNING

BEFORE:
"Here's the thing," says Rachel with a smile, "Front Street made a mistake. The girl they SHOULD have signed is the one that's going to knock THEIR girl out tonight."
"The one making a mistake," says a hard-eyed Marie, "Is Rachel. You want to talk s**t? Better be ready to back that up."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Gorgeous' by Girl Next Door and here comes a young lady who definitely fits that description, Rachel Stuhlmann!"
McCarthy: "Where does Weirdo find these big Jabronis?"
Cassie: "Well, Rachel is a former college tennis player and has the nickname 'The Tennis Paige Spiranac' because of her success as an influencer..."
Tess: "She's also an even six feet tall and plenty athletic."
O'Dell: "Rachel into the ring and helped off with the robe, and the crowd impressed by the lovely Ms. Stuhlmann in that black number she's wearing..."
Sun down on the sorry day
By nightlights the children pray
I know you're probably gettin' ready for bed
Beautiful woman, get out of my head
I'm so tired of the same old crud
Sweet baby, I need fresh blood
WHOOOOOOOOOOO!
O'Dell: "And, that's 'Fresh Blood' by Eels you hear hammering through the arena, and that can only mean that 'The Sexy Sequoia' Marie Temara is on her way to the ring!"
Tess: "And, we've all heard about and seen the physicals this girl has. Ton of raw talent..."
Cassie: "And, tonight is the next step in developing all of that."
O'Dell: "Marie into the ring, helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that lavender number we saw last month, and the crowd doing some popping..."
McCarthy (mumbling): "Neither of these two could get a centerfold. Big Jabronis..."
O'Dell: "And the ladies are about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Marie. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Temara's a big tomato can. Stuhlmann doesn't have any FCBA wins, but she'll get one tonight!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "First split panel of the night. Let's see who's right. Ladies to range right away, and no surprise there. Both of these girls are very tall and have a TON of reach, so they'll want to extend on punches. Stuhlmann getting off in combination early, showing plenty of quickness here..."
Cassie: "You can see 'college athlete' in everything she does. Great feet, quick hands. Moves VERY well."
O'Dell: "And, she's playing the geometry perfectly right now. Even Rachel, at 6'0", is giving up a bit of reach to the 6'2" Marie, but she's able to angle and get to spots where she can get off, and it's making a difference now. Marie trying to do some range-finding, settle in, but Rachel not having any."
McCarthy: "Not a bad plan. I like fast-starting fighters."
O'Dell: "Stuhlmann is that, at least in her first FCBA bout. She's getting punches put together nicely, building a lead here. Marie working the jab, trying to get something going, but it's mostly one-punch stuff in this stanza. Final seconds tick away and there's the bell. Rachel. Wide."
Tess: "And, Stuhlmann takes the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Temara settling in now as we start the second. She's finding range and the result is some good, two-way boxing between these willowy brunettes. Stuhlmann moving a bit more, slipping and dipping, while Marie looks to extend on those punches, use that power..."
McCarthy: "If we didn't have Godzilla, I might sign this Stuhlmann kid. She's got talent."
Cassie: "I know how GOOD you are at judging talent...considering that you GAVE us Taylor Hill, who's not only Top Twenty at TWO weights, but is a former Unified Lightweight Champion just entering her prime..."
McCarthy: "She's a TALENTLESS TOOTHPICK and SHUT UP, SCABBO!"
O'Dell (sighing): "No doubt both of these brunettes have plenty of talent. Marie able to follow on with some right hands here, and that's forcing Rachel onto the defensive at times. Stuhlmann's got almost as much height as Marie, but she's definitely giving up some weight here..."
Tess: "My guess is, everybody in the FCBA will be giving up some weight to Temara."
O'Dell: "Down the stretch in the second. It's been a good, two-way round with both fighters able to put together punches and flurries and score well. SHARP exchange there and it was Stuhlmann who got the better of it. There's the bell. Closer this time, but Rachel again, building her lead to 20-18."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "More of the same in the third. Ladies are comfortable on these terms and nobody looking to make any changes. More movement from Temara this stanza. She's showing some of her own athleticism, which is considerable. Result is another good, two-way round, ladies."
Tess: "Interesting thing is, a lot of hard shot as been exchanged here, but both fighters are taking it well."
O'Dell: "No doubt about that. I expect several fighters in this division might have seen the canvas by now, but Stuhlmann and Temara showing themselves to be PLENTY sturdy. NICE trade right there and Marie gets the best of it. Rachel circles, gets back to work."
Cassie: "Very impressed with Stuhlmann. Very."
O'Dell: "No question about it. She's looked plenty good in this one. Has to be opening some eyes right now. GOOD right from Rachel and Marie responds with one of her own as the final seconds tick off in the third. There's the bell. Close once again, this time Temara."
McCarthy: "But, Stuhlmann still leads 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Fourth underway and Marie landing a couple of good right hands that back up Rachel. Stuhlmann on the back foot now and Temara aiming to keep her there, working the left, dropping in right hands, pushing forward some here. Stuhlmann firing back in counter, but being forced to give ground..."
Cassie: "As you pointed out, Jenny, Rachel giving up some size here, and Marie making that count right now."
O'Dell: "Is, indeed. She's backing up Stuhlmann with heavy shot. Rachel not being blown out of here and not hurt, but she's having trouble holding canvas as Temara continues backing her up. Stuhlmann countering, landing some dangerous blows, but Temara shipping the shell."
McCarthy: "Stuhlmann's going to walk her into something. You heard it here first!"
O'Dell: "We're down under 30 seconds in the third. Marie's been in control throughout and that's not changing. GOOD right from Temara and Rachel lands a solid counter as the final seconds tick away. There's the bell. Marie's taken this one, and she's taken it wide."
Tess: "And we're even at 38."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Fifth begins with more lateral movement from Rachel. She's working to stay off square now, angle, get off in combination. Stuhlmann using that athleticism and quickness. Marie not able to find right now, and that's making a huge difference in this stanza..."
McCarthy: "This is what I'm talking about. Temara's a big, slow lunk!"
Cassie: "Again, Marie is ALSO an athlete, a former basketball player..."
McCarthy: "Big. Slow. Lunk!"
O'Dell: "Stuhlmann taking command in this one. She's getting everything going now, tossing hard leather at Marie again and again. Temara not hurt, but she's getting suppressed to a point. Able to bang back in counter here and there, but there's no question who's fighting lead."
Tess: "I'm going to echo Cassie. I'm impressed with Stuhlmann."
O'Dell: "Can definitely see her as a girl who can be a factor in the welterweight division, which, of course, has never been as deep as the other three divisions in the FCBA for obvious reasons. Final seconds tick away now, and there's the bell. Another good round for Stuhlmann, who takes it wide to go back into the lead 48-47 at the half."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Adjustment from Temara now. Marie moving more, looking to match footwork, square up, then get off. And, it's working in the early going. Marie getting that looooonnngggg left jab on target, following with right hands, backing up the older brunette again."
Cassie: "We've been talking about how impressive Stuhlmann is in her first FCBA fight. Well. How about Marie in her second?"
O'Dell: "She's definitely able to adjust in there, do different things, and that's something newer fighters sometimes struggle with. Also doing a good job of being aggressive but sound. And, that's another thing tyros tend to have a problem with. GOOD right from Marie and that backs Rachel up a step..."
Tess: "Again, a shot that would have put down a LOT of girls in this division."
O'Dell: "But not Stuhlmann, who took the licking and kept on ticking. Marie walking forward now behind that left, backing her rival up with solid shot. Rachel firing back in counter, definitely looking to do what Mac suggested and walk Marie into something. Final seconds tick off and there's the bell. Temara. Wide."
McCarthy: "And we're even at 57."
ROUND SEVEN:
O'Dell: "Seventh begins the way the sixth ended, with Marie working forward behind that big left jab. And, there's no doubt that's a Front Street Jab, but the question is, with her size and power, did she already HAVE that thing when she was signed, or is it something she learned..."
Cassie: "A bit of both."
McCarthy: "IT. IS. A. JAB. EVERY. FIGHTER. HAS. ONE!"
O'Dell: "Temara's, however, is CLEARLY heavier than most jabs, just like the ones the other Front Street bigs have. GOOD right hand counter from Stuhlmann and DOWN SHE GOES after a BRUTAL straight right from Temara! What a shot that was and Rachel is dropped to her back!"
Tess: "I'm not sure anybody's getting up from that..."
O'Dell: "Marie to a neutral corner. Rachel, eyes wide, staring up at the referee. Count at three. Four. Five. Stuhlmann drapes the arm over her eyes! Six. Seven. Eight. Not gonna happen. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO7 in one-punch fashion is 'The Sexy Sequoia', Marie Temara!"
McCarthy: "Lucky punch!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Marie Temara, and, Marie, that was a great fight!"
Marie: "Sure was! Rachel has a lot of talent. She's a girl who ought to be in a stable somewhere. Give her opportunities, and she can contend at welter for sure."
Tess: "I noticed the two of you had a hug after the fight..."
Marie: "Yeah. No hard feelings for her. Just business tonight."
Tess: "What's next for you?"
Marie: "Whatever management has in mind, I'm up for. I just want to work. And, I'll get back to that tomorrow!"
