Intro:
Two women who need a win as results haven't went their way lately is Sophia Bush and Rita Ora. Both were given title shots this year but neither could grab the gold in front of them and since then have struggled for wins. Which one of them can take home the victory to end this year on a high?

This is actually the second time these two have met in the ring. Back in 2018 on a card to celebrate Sophia's birthday, Sophia got a nice present of knocking out Rita in five rounds. Five years later, how much has changed between these two fighters?

Sophia gave her thoughts on this fight to the BBU reporter Georgia Thompson at her stables gym. Sophia had finished her workout as she sat on a bench in the locker room wearing tight black yoga pants, a black sports bra, had black hand wraps still on from sparring and was now bare foot.

"Rita is a solid boxer, she has a great jab and footwork. Her problem has always been her ego gets in her way. When we fought I took her down because she would open herself up thinking she was on top. I haven't seen where that has changed and the first chance I get, well she is going to be slumbering on boxing Day" says Sophia. Who unwraps her hands.

Sophia adds "on the title front I am going to work my way back up the rankings. Whether it is Jorgie Porter or Sophia Thomalla at the top of their divisions, I want one more shot at the top. This has to be the starting point." Throwing the hand wraps to the floor as she can't hide her frustration how this year has ended for her.

Rita meanwhile stick to social media, she posted "I have been waiting five years for this. I did you a favour then and boxed you on your birthday, this time I won't show you any mercy Bush. I am stronger, fitter and just all round better then I was then." Along with a photo to try to prove her point.

Fight Night! Sophia walks out first with Taryn Terrell in her corner. Sophia waves to the crowd as she looks relaxed. Soon enough she is climbing in the ring wearing a black sports bra with white stripes down the sides, matching trunks and shoes, white gloves and her hair in a ponytail. She fist bumps Taryn before shadow boxing.

Rita now comes out to a loud cheer from her supporters. She has her coach following behind as she high fives some people at ringside to show she isn't lacking confidence that she can get revenge tonight. Into the ring she goes wearing a white sports bra, white trunks with "Ora" on her waistband in black. White shoes and gloves, her hair is in a ponytail too. Rita taps her gloves together as she stares at Sophia.

The fighters then walk to the middle of the ring for a face off. Rita staring a hole right through her opponent as Sophia shakes her arms to keep them loose. They bump gloves hard with their opponent before jogging back to their corners. Once ready the bell rings to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.

Round 1:
Starting off trading single punches, it isn't long till Sophia dips under a jab to land a short left/right hook combo into the body of her opponent. Rita nudges back Sophia and lands a straight as both want to control where the fight is happening. Rita wanting it at range, Sophia clearly wanting to have the pressure on her foe.

An overhand right catches Rita on her ear after the opening minute. Sophia piling on the heat as she whacks away on the inside. Rita trying to match her but Sophia looks highly motivated to beat her down. Forcing Ora to grab hold of the American to slow her down. The referee pushing them apart with Rita staring angrily at Sophia.

More toe to toe exchanges as Rita opens up more. They end up clinched again after bumping into each other, grappling for space as the referee has to warn both to keep it clean. Sophia manages to catch Rita when they resume with a clean jab on her chin that is followed by a right cross. Rita finding herself moving around the perimeter of the ring trying not to get pinned down. The bell rings with Bush off to a solid start.

Round 2:
Resuming with Rita doubling up their jab more, wanting to make it harder for Sophia to get in closer. Rita showing her hand speed now as she lands two punch combos while moving around the ring. Sophia manages to push back her opponent with a right to her stomach before an overhand left to the cheek of the British fighter.

Nudging back Sophia to create space again. Rita landing more punches to the chest of Bush to make her grunt with a slight grimace. Sophia landing over the top with hooks as both try to control the action. Rita keeps needing to nudge back Sophia so she can get her rhythm going again.

Late in the round Sophia gets caught with a left hook on her jaw. A straight knocks back the head of the actress. Rita has her opponent covering up now until the bell rings. Rita gets a nod from her coach as they are happy with her work there.

Round 3:
Bouncing on her toes and keeping on the move around Sophia. Rita is pumping in solid blows into the face of her opponent to mark it up. Sophia tightening her guard up more. It is allowing Rita more time though to work away with hooks around the guard.

Sophia starts firing back at the half way point of the round. Slamming several punches square into the face of Rita. Who fires back as they go toe to toe again. Crowd roaring them both on as they stand their ground. Rita's coach yelling at her to get back on the move as she is getting bogged down.

Taking heed of her coaches words. Rita does get back on the move in the final twenty seconds, back to the gameplan as she digs her punches back into the face and chest of Bush to keep her on the outside. The round ends with Rita getting told off her coach to be careful not to lose her temper.

Round 4:
Sophia is closing the distance more quickly to not let Rita get her punches off as freely. Rita lands several crisp punches but is getting caught back in return. Sophia manages to cut the ring off and pressures her opponent back towards a neutral corner. Whacking away at the torso of Ora to wear her down.

After a clinch allows Rita to get out the corner after referee intervention. Rita is finding herself being herded near the ropes. Both landing punches but it's now Sophia looking the more confident, outworking her opponent around the ring. Rita trying to work her way back into control of the action.

A right hook catches Rita on her chin to turn her head. She is shelling up now as Sophia whacks in hooks, trying to land an uppercut to break the guard apart. The round comes to an end with Sophia looking fired up. While Rita takes a breath to try to calm any butterflies she is starting to feel.

Round 5:
Bashing away at the torso of Rita early on. Sophia gets nudged back and gets caught with a jab/straight into her face. They trade stiff shots at midrange till Sophia dips under a right cross and lands a harpoon like right into the stomach of Ora to make her gasp.

Rita backs up and gets caught with a left hook on her cheek before another right lands into her belly to make her bend over. AN UPPERCUT LANDS FLUSH ON THE FACE OF RITA TO MAKE HER GO DOWN TO ALL FOURS WITH BLOOD DRIPPING OUT HER NOSTRILS!

Walking to the neutral corner, Sophia has her gloves on her hips as she watches the count. 1....2....3.... Rita is groaning as she shakes her head. 4....5... She pushes to her haunches with a groan. 6....7....8... Shutting her eyes as she rubs her stomach. 9....10 Rita couldn't find the strength to stand, she is counted out!

Winner Sophia Bush KO Round 5

After:
Sophia bangs her gloves together as she releases her frustration from the past few months. Walking over to her corner to get a warm embrace from her coach. Sophia says "thank god, I thought she was going to box my head off there." Taryn shaking her head and telling her not to be so downbeat on herself.

Rita meanwhile needs to be helped up to her feet and takes her over to her corner to sit her on the stool. Rita gets her nose patched up as she has some blood dripping onto her tits. Rita spits her gumshield out to the canvas as she shows her anger at losing again.

Both women are cleaned up by their corner crews. Getting to their feet and heading to the middle of the ring for the final result to be announced. Rita looks at the canvas as Sophia gets her left hand raised by the referee. As soon as that is done Rita turns her back on them and heads out the ring.

This certainly wasn't how Rita envisioned things would turn out tonight. Instead of going home with a victory, she has to taste defeat once more. Her coach just lets her be as they look concerned for her as she charges in front of them.

While in the ring Sophia looks like a weight has been lifted off her back. She has things that still need to be worked on but at least now she can face next year with a victory to build off. Taryn rubs her shoulders as they leave the ring. Sophia grinning as waves to the crowd.
