Model Mayhem '23: Sweet Sixteen
Jennifer Atilemile vs Lily Aldridge
(FCBA Debut vs 24-15, 24 KO)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: Santa Monica's very own Lily Aldridge kicks off her Model Mayhem campaign against rookie Jennifer Atilemile which brings two pre-fight news: The good news is Atilemile is a rookie, the bad news is she is basically a middleweight which gives her a huge weight advantage but such is the luck of the draw in tournament format. Lily still claims she's a runaway favorite to advance into the Elite Eight and the California crowd support couldn't be loud enough when both models enter the beach setting just off the Santa Monica pier.
Jennifer Atilemile wears a steel grey bikini set & blue gloves. Shoulder lenght black hair loose & straight. Lily Aldridge wears a yellow bikini set & red gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a custom ponytail. Both women are barefoot. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds.
Round 1:
Promising start from the newcomer who uses her power to land some hard shots up the middle and she clearly profits from the fact Lily hesitates to engage in a proper slugging contest despite most of the patrons urging her to do so. Jennifer starts working those looping hits on a regular basis and suddenly looks like she can also move around a little which forces Lily to adjust on the fly however the local favorite simply can't find her rhythm in time and soaks up more nasty licks as Atilemile outworks her with a stubborn delivery and almost traps her on the turnbuckle late in the run. A couple of wild shots tag the American's chest and leave her stunned at the bell as Jennifer wants the Santa Monica patrons to show her some support as well.
Rounds 2 & 3:
Lily showcases improved speed across the sand and spins away from another hectic Aussie charge but Jennifer feels confident enough she can taunt the American favorite and force some slugging action. Lily has seen it all herself so she doesn't bite on the cheesy tactics and prefers her gloves do the talking which allows her to land some meaningful shots down the stretch if only Atilemile displays impressive resistance in the process. She tries to find a counter-punching response but struggles to match the fellow brunette's speed and the fight descends into a back & forth affair which still gives the newcomer more reasons to be satisfied. Atilemile avoids Aldridge's speed bursts and she can always land that power combo to stun the US veteran on the spot. Lily is wary of this threat and follows coach Claudia Schiffer's plans to wear the Australian out but that's a questionable idea in tournament format.
Rounds 4 & 5:
Jennifer still chases that slam dunk move and slowly begins to show her frustration when many of her single punches & combos don't make any difference with Lily still covering the sand in lithe fashion during the next two rounds. The crowd support gets louder when Atilemile slices thin air more often and she eventually runs into a wall unable to close the fast moving opponent down. Lily duly pounces of her chance and begins to stack up the hits bouncing off the fellow brunette's face & body until she thumps her onto the ropes and just lays it down from there. Jennifer has to clinch Lily each time she takes a vicious double and she falls even further behind in the fifth when she suffers a cut across her nasal ridge that Aldridge works on for the next three minutes. Those attacks are kinda predictable but still give the rookie a lot of trouble as Jennifer is unable to stay out of Lily's striking zone and gets bashed into a proper standstill come the final minute. Lily has no fear of that welterweight power supply anymore and makes Atilemile look like a genuine newcomer after all.
Rounds 6 & 7:
Minimal action from Jennifer in the sixth, she appears to be both frustrated & hurting at the same time and only soaks up more damage from the inside. Lily thumps her rack and carries a couple of chin shots to stuff the Aussie tourist on the sand before a looping wild hook nails the younger woman on the temple. Jennifer tails off onto the ropes and survives a hectic push to close out the sixth but she finally succumbs to the American's sustained pressure early in the seventh when she gets tagged on the wounded nose moments before Lily's uppercut smashes her on the chin one time too many. DOWN GOES JENNIFER crashing onto her knees amid a wild roar from the Santa Monica fans. Lily waves back at them and tells the ref to stop the count since the "#### rook ain't getting up today". And she's right, Jennifer stays down on all fours making no effort to delay the ineviteable. KO7 Lily Aldridge!!!
AFTER: One might argue the Santa Monica model should have taken care of business much sooner but she's been drawn into a welterweight section of the Mayhem draw so it doesn't get any easier in the quarter-finals where she will face either Robyn Lawley or Ashley Graham: "I'm still ready for any of these hacks and who knows, maybe the winner spends more energy in victory than I did? Let's face it, the pressure is ALL on these welters to carry into the final." (winks).
Official Result: Lily Aldridge def. Jennifer Atilemile KO7.
