(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout!)
Intro: Bridget "Goddess" Satterlee and Lorella Boccia are certainly in different parts of their careers. Bridget came into the FCBA with a bang, having a tournament to find her debut opponent, where she would end up losing to Kate Upton. While Lorella is a veteran in comparison and is a former JMDD champion. These two clash in the opening round of the Diamond Boxing Tournament, who leaves with a win next to their name and who starts with a loss to have to overcome?
Alicia Atout was able to get a word with both. Bridget was the first one to speak to Alicia in the media area. Bridget wore a white leather jacket with a black T-Shirt, black jeans and black heels. She stood hands on her hips smiling as she says to Alicia "nearly time to party, I am going to knock some bytches out and have fun during this tournament." Showing she isn't shy of confidence.
Laughing before she adds "ok it won't be easy but I don't think anyone can beat me in this field. Take my first opponent, Lorella has more experience and all, yet she is a boob fighter to me. While I have the best set of abs around and I will knock all out in front of me to show you why I am the goddess of the FCBA."
Lorella meanwhile doesn't look too interested in talking to Alicia as she wears a blue dress and heels. Lorella tells Alicia "I am simply in this tournament to win it all. Not interested in making friends or enemies. Bridget doesn't scare me one bit, in fact I think you call her a hype job right?" Alicia nervously nods hoping that won't earn her a telling off by Natalie Dormer.
The Italian beauty continues "just get me in that ring so I can show people like Raffaela Modugno how it is done. I am the best in Italy, soon the world." She struts off happy she has made her point. Alicia looks around to see if Natalie is going to rush to her to say something and breaths a sigh of relief.
Fighting time here in the Qudos Bank Arena! Bridget is first to walk to the ring with her coach Jess Bush by her right side. Bridget stands hands on hips grinning at the bottom of the aisle to let people take photos of her. She soon enough gets into the ring wearing a black sports bra with grey trim, matching trunks and shoes, grey gloves and her hair in a ponytail finishes her look off. She looks relaxed as she bounces on her toes awaiting her opponent.
Who doesn't make her wait too long as Lorella walks to the ring. The Italian has her coach Miyada Issiki to her left. Lorella soon steps into the ring wearing baby blue coloured sports bra, trunks, shoes and gloves, hair is also in a ponytail. Lorella scowls over at Bridget as she clearly doesn't care one bit for her foe.
The referee waves both to the center of the ring. Both women lock eyes and have hands on their hips. Bridget looking down at Lorella. The fighters touch gloves with a crack of leather showing it wasn't a soft touch. They walk back to their corners with the bell ringing not long after to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1: Off they go with Bridget starting off pretty well as she moves and lands several clean jabs to the forehead of her opponent. Lorella stalking after her with a few straight shots of her own. Bridget is the one dictating the early action with that reach advantage on show right away.
But Bridget looks to have lost where she is in the ring as Lorella catches her with an overhand right to her cheek after cutting the ring off. Back to the ropes goes Bridget as she finds herself being roughed up by the Italian stunner. Who is whacking away around her torso mainly. making the American beauty groan.
Pushing Lorella off gives Satterlee some breathing room. Both are trading in more closer range as Boccia is now the now pushing tempo up a notch. Late in the round an uppercut catches Bridget out and she finds herself driven to the ropes, shelling up as Lorella looks to hurt her right now with hooks. The round ends with Bridget getting a bit of a wake up call after starting quickly, Lorella setting her stall out that she is going to get right into her opponents face.
Round 2: Tapping her gloves before she comes back out. Bridget looks fired up after that first round. Planting her feet more to exchange with her opponent. Lorella happy to do so as she slips a few punches to ram her own into the face of Bridget to make her back off. Lorella certainly getting the attention of the crowd as they cheer her on when she is on top.
A left hook catches the over aggressive Lorella on her jaw to knock her a step to the side. Bridget's eyes light up as she whacks in a follow up jab/right cross combo flush to her opponents face. Lorella now finding herself being herded around the perimeter of the ring as Bridget shows maturity not to rush in and get caught out.
Lorella gets some punches going to the body of Bridget but she keeps getting shoved back. Bridget ramming in more double jabs square to the face of her opponent to snap her head back. The round comes to a close with Bridget nodding to her corner as she knows that was a much better round as a whole for her.
Round 3: Resuming with straight punches around their opponents lips and chins. Both are opening up as they know a win is all that matters here. Bridget landing the cleaner shots when she can hold off Lorella. The Italian is crouching more to move in and land through the gaps the younger woman is leaving her.
Again it's an overhand right that catches Bridget cleaner then her coach would have hoped for. Bridget finding herself driven back into a neutral corner as her body is worked over. A little grimace to the face of Satterlee till she can grab hold of the veteran.
Broken apart so they can resume. Bridget is landing more again as she moves around but Lorella this time catches her with a straight on her chin. Bridget finding herself muscled back to the ropes as she is being worked over. Lorella getting caught with a few shots to her cheeks as Bridget is showing her fighting spirit to the delight of the crowd. The bell dings with a little staredown between the fighters before they walk to their corners.
Round 4: Lorella looking to push the pace early as she gets back at the body of Bridget. Who steps back and rams in several straight shots to Lorella's face. A left hook crashes on the ear of Lorella as she looked comfortable on the inside. Now she back tracks as Bridget rams in a jab/straight to her face to knock her back two steps.
Bridget starting to get her rhthym going as she rams home several clean punches square into the face of Boccia. There is still punches coming back her way though with them landing around her chest to start reddening that up. Overhand right just misses for Lorella as Bridget looks to have learned her lesson.
Late in the round; Bridget catches Lorella near her left eye to make the Revolution fighter retreat back. Bridget pinning her to the ropes as the American switches up her punches nicely. The round comes to an end with Lorella having a mouse under her left eye. Bridget wipes some sweat from her brow as both women lock eyes across the ring.
Round 5: Back at it they go with Lorella again looking to be the early aggressor. Bridget though is looking to nudge her back with her left to her forehead to create space. A left hook catches Lorella on her jaw to twist her head before Bridget slams in a follow up jab/right cross combo to her face. Lorella is being bullied now around the outside part of the ring as her guard opens up.
Into the second minute of the round. Lorella gives Bridget a warning with an uppercut that doesn't land flush but does make her step back. Both letting their hands go as they look to grab control of the action. A straight snaps back the head of Boccia before another left hook smacks on her chin to turn her head.
Under forty seconds to go. Lorella finds herself on the ropes with an uppercut rocking her head back. Bridget smelling blood in the water as she hammers home hooks. Lorella trying to fight back but is being pounded. A RIGHT HOOK ON THE EYE OF LORELLA TO MAKE HER CRY OUT, LEFT HOOK TO THE CHIN SENDS LORELLA DOWN TO HER KNEES WITH HER LEFT ARM ON THE MIDDLE ROPE!
Bridget marches to the neutral corner. 1....2....3... While Lorella is shaking her head to clear it. Some swelling around her left eye. 4....5....6... Lorella leans against the ropes with her back now as she looks to be badly dazed! 7....8....9....10 that's it for this bout!
Winner Bridget Satterlee KO Round 5
After: Bridget getting an impressive win to start off this tournament. She smiles as she walks back to her corner to fist bump her coaches. Jess telling her "we have a few things to work on but damn you looked good there" as she is looking proud of her stablemate.
While Lorella needs help to stand as her legs look like jelly. Helped over to her stool as she spits out her gumshield on the canvas. Miyada picks it up and is telling her fighter "you have to shake this off. One defeat doesn't end this tournament for you. It's still there to win." As Lorella looks back to reality and nods in response.
Still the Revolution crew must want Lorella checked over as they help her out the ring. Not the start they wanted but you don't have to be undefeated to win this tournament, it does help of course. Lorella will be disappointed she couldn't keep the pressure on her opponent as she'd hope.
In the ring Bridget gets her left arm raised by the referee. A dream start for the Absolution fighter as she blows kisses to the crowd. Soon leaving the ring with Jess to head to the backstage and their locker room. As Jess said Bridget has a few things to work on but she did look impressive at times and most importantly got the victory. |
