Intro:
Now it's main event time and as us becoming a tradition; the last two winners of the Diamond Boxing Tournament meet to see who will leave with the special trophy. Robyn Lawley and Hailey Clauson have never fought. "Godzilla" Robyn Lawley will have home field advantage as we are in the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. Can Robyn win this time after losing to Camille Kostek last year.

The night before the contest they were the headline of the press conference. On the left side of the stage comes Robyn wearing a red dress and heels. Hailey on the right wearing a silver dress with heels. Both shake hands when they meet before raising their fists with intense expressions as the face off is captured by the cameras of the press.

After that they separate to separate sides as a podium is placed where they were. Robyn is the one waved to speak first. She is beaming as she heads to the podium. Telling the press "it's always great to be back home, amongst family and friends, along with all my amazing fans."

She then continues by saying "but I have to talk about this bout and it's funny, I had assumed I fought Hailey before but turns out I haven't. I know she is physical, I hope she realises my godzilla nickname is well earned." Turning to Hailey to wink to her with hands on her hips.

Robyn gives up the podium and up steps Hailey. Who is looking relaxed as she jokes "trust me I can see why you are Godzilla of the division" waving her right hand above her height to act out the height difference between them with a giggle. That gets a chuckle from the press and Lawley.

"Ok jokes aside first I want to give a message as the reigning diamond Boxing Tournament champion to the current participants. It is the best thing you can do, whoever wins I look forwards to fight them next year" says Hailey. Showing how much the tournament meant to her last year when she won it.

"Right back to the now and Robyn I respect you a lot. Camille though showed how a smaller blonde can beat you. I am glad to fight you and finally see if I can take you down" Hailey says as she finishes with a nod of respect to her future opponent. Robyn just grins at her in response.

Fight Night! Before the bout a few former champions are asked at ringside for their opinion. Legendary fighter and local hero Elle "the body" MacPherson tells Alicia Atout "I have to go with my girl Robyn. We sparred a few times when she was starting in the business and I am gobsmacked by how far she has come, Hailey is great but Robyn is the best fighter to me in this division." Maybe a little bias of course.

A different opinion comes from former FCBA welterweight champion and member of the Vixens, Hannah Ferguson says "I am not friends with either. Me and Robyn aren't enemies per say, while Hailey bugs me. I have to be totally honest, I think Hailey right now is at the top of her game and Robyn has had mixed results. Hailey cracks her on the chin and it's over, Godzilla will tumble over like those old B movies they were in." Winking at the last part.

Time for the fighters and first to come out to the aisle is Robyn to a loud roar from the crowd. She has Gena Lee Nolin with her of course. The dynamic duo smiling as Robyn blows a few kisses to the fans. Soon enough Robyn gets into the ring. She taps her black gloves together, she is wearing a black sports bra with green trim, matching trunks and shoes, hair is in a ponytail as she looks excited.

Hailey begins her walk with boos ringing out. The American takes it in her stride as she walks to the ring with her coach Henry Cavill behind her. Hailey is wearing a white sports bra with gold trim, matching trunks and shoes, gold coloured gloves as her hair is also in a ponytail. Hailey gets into the ring and nods to Henry to show she has got this.

The fighters walk to the middle of the ring with both looking tensely at each other. The referee finishes their instructions and orders both to touch gloves. Respectfully they do so before walking to their corners. The chants of "Godzilla!" Nearly drown out the bell as it rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.

Round 1:
"Ding!" Out they come with both dancing around the center of the ring. Hailey stabbing in straight punches around the body of Robyn. Who fires back with her shots aimed at the forehead of Hailey to knock it back. Both trying to grab control early with Hailey stepping inside to land a left/right hook combo to the ribs of Robyn to make her take two steps back.

Hailey looks to keep the heat on Robyn. Problem is she gets caught with a left hook around her ear. She backs off and eats a straight into her face. Robyn has the crowd cheering every clean shot she lands as she takes hold of the middle of the ring. Hailey moved around near the ropes as she slings back less punches as she tightens her guard.

The last minute seeing Hailey struggling to get out her guard. Robyn keeping her back with her jab thrusting out, landing around Clauson's guard with her right. Last seconds sees Hailey catch Robyn with a straight onto her chin before landing an overhand left to her jaw as she shows off her fighting spirit. The round ends with Robyn having her name chanted as she returns to her corner with a smile.

Round 2:
Back out they come with Hailey stepping in more behind her punches, landing around the chest of Robyn. Who lands short hooks around her face to try to back her off. Both women digging their toes in more to add some extra power behind their punches.

After the opening minute is hard fought. Hailey catches out Robyn with a jab on her chin before a right hook crashes onto the chin of the Aussie to turn her head. Robyn finding herself backed to the ropes as a flurry of punches comes her way. Robyn swinging back but Hailey is landing the cleaner punches.

Pushed off by Robyn. Hailey has to settle back to midrange as both women slam in more punches through their opponents guard. Robyn moving around the ring working off the back foot but happy to use her reach. The round ends with Hailey banging her gloves together as she looks fired up for this test.

Round 3:
Resuming with both again planting their feet to go toe to toe, both showing their pride here to try to win these exchanges, any back step Hailey has makes the pro Lawley crowd roar. Boos rain on the ring when Robyn is forced to take steps back.

A straight catches Hailey on her nose to open her up to a left hook to her chin. Hailey finding herself backed into a neutral corner. Henry banging on the ring apron wanting his girl to fight back. Robyn though is pinning her down well with straight punches to her face and chest. Hailey needing to grab hold of Robyn to stop her.

Under forty five seconds to go. Hailey gets inside to work the body of Robyn. It gets scruffy when Robyn grabs hold of her. Both women wrestling till they can be split up. Robyn landing a crisp double jab to the face of Hailey when they resume. Not long later the bell rings with both staring hard at their opponent before turn to their corners. Sweat being cleaned off them as if they had any doubts about how tough this fight would be, well those doubts are being pushed back.

Round 4:
Pushing off their stools to resume; Hailey dips under a few punches to get inside to work. Landing an overhand left onto the chin of Robyn to twist her head. Hailey drives her taller foe into a neutral corner and bangs away at her body, sneaking several punches to the jugs of Lawley to make her grit her mouthpiece.

Pushing off Hailey to try to get away from the ropes. Problem for Robyn is Hailey is like a dog with a chew toy. She isn't willing to let her advantageous position go easily. Punches flying from both women as they try to make the other back off. Hailey looks to win the exchange with a left hook on the jaw before a straight to the lips of Lawley to knock her back to the ropes. There's a thin trickle of blood coming from the bottom lip of Robyn as she grabs onto her opponent to slow her down.

Broken up and they resume with Robyn slamming in double jabs to try to hold off Hailey. Both circling around the middle of the ring with Hailey not having as much success going into the final moments of the round. The ding of the bell rings out with Robyn nodding to her corner, knowing that round got out from under her quickly. Hailey meanwhile taps her toes with some redness forming on her cheeks.

Round 5:
Hailey again comes out strong as she is warmed up to the task it seems of closing that distance on Robyn. Punches raining from both women with a straight on the chin of Robyn makes her back off. A left hook is followed by an uppercut to send Lawley back onto the ropes.

Covering up as Clauson is whacking away at her. Robyn pulls her into a tight clinch. Both women digging some punches into their opponents kidneys to show how much this means to them. Broken up with both scowling at each other. They resume with both landing combos as the crowd is on its feet cheering.

The boos come back in as another uppercut pushes Robyn to her heels. She covers up with Hailey trying to land a big shot to end this. Robyn has to push her to her face to get away from the ropes but Lawley is finding herself having to fight off the back foot. The round comes to a close with Robyn cursing herself under her breath. Hailey is the one in the ascendancy as she sits on her stool with Henry telling her she is doing great, still they know this is far from over.

Round 6:
Robyn starts to double up her jab more to kick off the round, not wanting Hailey to get at her so easily. The American star is ramming in more punches around the jugs of Robyn to try to bring down that guard. Both women nearly clash body to body when Hailey tries to swing in with an overhand left that lands on the glove of Robyn. Who pushes her back to get the space back where she wants it.

Hailey gets hit by a right cross to knock her head back. A left hook soon follows as Robyn starts to land more power punches. Hailey forced to cover up more tightly as she backs off to the perimeter of the ring. Hailey throwing single punches back, she is being outworked by Lawley as the former welterweight champion shows why her nickname is Godzilla.

A right opens a cut under the left eye of Hailey. Who starts swinging back as she feels the blood. Both end up clinched up trying to muscle their opponent back. The referee pushed them apart, going toe to toe in the final seconds of the round. The bell rings with both women's chests starting to rise faster. They sit on their stools being patched up as both are feeling this fight.

Round 7:
The early going seeing both stinging each others faces with jabs. Hailey dipping down and coming up over the top with punches. Robyn nudging back Hailey before rifling in double jabs to her face. Sweat soaked, blood on their jugs, both women are fighting their hearts out as they clash body to body when they both swing in hooks.

Into the second minute; Hailey slips a jab to ram her own into the face of Robyn. She follows with a right hook over the top into the ear of Lawley as the crowd starts their boos again. THEY GET LOUDER AS ROBYN STEPS BACK AND TAKES A SWEEPING LEFT HOOK ON HER CHIN TO SEND HER TO HER BACK!

Robyn groans as Gena yells at her to stand. Hailey moves to the neutral corner as she wipes her brow of sweat. 1....2....3....4... Robyn groans as she turns to her front. Shaking her head to clear it. 5....6... Grabbing the middle rope in front of her. 7....8... Robyn is up to her feet and has her fists raised. She looks to have her legs under her as she nods to the referee she can fight on.

They resume with Robyn giving up some ground early as Hailey is looking for the knockout. There's some holding and hitting around to kidneys by both. Earning them a warning by the referee. Both fighting hard as they circle around the ring.

The round ends with Robyn hissing "f**k" as she returns to her stool. Gena wipes her down and tells her "keep your head. You've been in this position and overcame this." Showing her experience and trying to reassure her fighter. In the opposite corner Hailey takes a breath to keep her own composure as she wants to win this now.

Round 8:
Hailey is up and trying to get to Robyn early to rough her up. Some meaty shots land with thuds around the torso of the Aussie. Robyn grits her mouthpiece and fires back up top. Slamming her own punches into the face of Hailey to keep her from charging through her.

Second minute sees Hailey get nudged back and take a right hook on the cut. The American stunner crying out as she now backs up. A left/right lands through her mitts square into her face as Robyn turns on the heat in her direction. Pinned onto the ropes by Lawley, Clauson is looking worried behind her gloves.

Grabbing hold of Robyn; Hailey is baring her gumshield as she looks furious by the momentum switching again. They are pushed apart and trade hard shots. Hailey not looking happy when punches land around her left eye, swelling starting to form around it. The bell dings with both breathing hard as they return to their stools. It's clear both are sore and fighting on pure will now.

Round 9:
They aren't as quick to engage but when they do, it's more hard fighting action as they exchange stiff straight punches. Hailey comes inside to work, causing Robyn to wince as her body is reddening up. A shove creates the space though for her to land a straight into that swollen eye to make Hailey retreat back with a tear looking to be running from that abused eye.

Robyn looks to be getting the better of the exchanges now she sticks to that left side. Hailey fighting with all her heart. She is getting hit with more punches them she can land. A solid straight smacks her on it again as back towards her own corner foes Clauson. HAILEY DOESN'T SEE THE RIGHT HOOK THAT LANDS ON HER EAR! DOWN SHE GOES TO HER RIGHT SIDE WITH A WET SLAP!

Over to the neutral corner walks Robyn looking pained herself. Henry is banging on the ring apron to try to get his fighter to wake up! 1....2....3... Hailey rolls to her back with a groan. 4....5....6... Laying spread eagle as she whines. 7....8.... Hailey has blood running from her cut to the canvas as she can only lay there and 9....10 be counted out!

Winner Robyn Lawley KO Round 9

After:
The crowd erupts as their second national hero wins tonight. Robyn raises her arms but looks sore judging how her left eye shuts. Still she smiles as she walks around the ring, walking around Hailey as the beaten fighter is checked on by Henry and the ringside doctor.

As Robyn returns to her corner, Gena nods with a smile. The coach knowing Robyn isn't in great shape to give a hug too without hurting her. Instead she wipes down the victor after taking her gloves off. Robyn admitting "I thought it was going to be deju vu again." Talking about how she lost to Camille Kostek in this champion of champions clash last year.

All the while Hailey has to be helped to sit up. She looks broken as she stares with her good eye at the canvas, tears running down her cheeks as she was so close to taken down the big Aussie in her backyard. Instead she is having to be slowed helped up and over to her stool mere feet behind her. Getting cleaned up as Henry tells her she was unlucky, something she doesn't seem keen to be told.

After a few minutes Robyn heads to the center of the ring. Unlike last year where it was for the FCBA Welterweight title, Robyn actually gets a tiara placed on her head to show she won this contest. Her left hand is raised into the air as she smiles as her name is chanted.

Hailey didn't come to the middle. Instead she is helped out the ring to the back. She looks like she needs to just stay in her hotel room this weekend and sleep. It doesn't help when some in the front row are chanting "na na na, hey! Hey! Goodbye!" To her. Not showing any respect to the hard fought battle she just had.

The winner on the other hand heads to each corner to blow kisses to the fans. Last year was an absolutely devastating way to begin the year with defeat and losing her title. Could this impressive victory be the catalyst for her to move back into the title picture and maybe even reclaim her title?

Of course that's for another day and celebrating like some of her fellow countrymen do. Robyn is handed a clear heel with champagne in. She laughs and gamely drinks out of it with a wink to the crowd. Showing her showwoman side she has in front of her supporters. This win meaning so much for her and Boxing in the country when it comes to the female celebrities.
