Sabrina Carpenter vs Shenae Grimes

BEFORE: The Lioness Invitational kicks off with another guest appearance from Sabrina Carpenter which raises some questions behind the scenes but even BLONDE! Magazine can't get a clear statement from the Bradenton executives for the time being. The pint-sized actress took care of business in her last two fights but Jessica Lowndes' regular sparring partner Shenae Grimes is an upgrade over Ariana Grande and Dakota Fanning so let's find out if Sabrina keeps trending upwards or maybe is set to become another prospect feeding off fellow free agents?
Sabrina Carpenter wears a blue bikini set & white gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a half-up ponytail with bangs. Shenae Grimes wears a red crop top, jeans shorts & red gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a braid. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1:
Shenae is almost too passive in the early stages for whatever reason and this gives the youngster immediate chance to pounce on her in true slugging fashion. The days of Sabrina being overlooked by her peers could be over and she strikes a confident image thumping the more experienced opponent from both flanks to open the Invitational card. Shenae realizes she made a mistake and this alleged creampuff blonde can indeed throw a mean punch but she learns it the hard way while hugging the ropes down the stretch. Sabrina is all over the Canadian veteran and rails her from the inside until a couple of nasty gut shots force Grimes to apply the clinching stalemate in the closing stages of a one-sided round.
Round 2:
More of the same in the second as Sabrina takes off early and gashes the older actress from each side to turn more heads inside the Hard Rock Stadium. Shenae stops most of the blonde's punches with her face and appears to be surprised by the whole ordeal like she missed the tape session or something. More quick digs from Carpenter allow her to stay on top and she keeps the brunette neutralized by the sheer volume of her punches. Shenae is no stranger to getting bumped around but it's one thing when former champion Jessica Lowndes does the bumping. Getting outboxed by an undersized newcomer like Sabrina Carpenter is something else. Grimes is unable to impose her presence in the ring thus far and falls 20-18 on the cards after two.
Round 3:
Shenae finally lands the better series to open the round and clobbers more punches on target as the otherwise confident blonde has to soak up a meaningful punishment for a change. She doesn't back away from the slugging test but maybe lets her pride get in the way of common sense as Grimes scrubs her off in the opening minute. Nothing changes in the second either with Shenae on her way to show the free agent how it's done. A couple of wicked hooks leave visible swelling on Sabrina's face and she has to seek respite in mid-distance after all. Shenae tries to chase her down into the corner but the blonde's supreme footwork enables her to escape more damage in this round.
Round 4:
Shenae's recovery continues to the point she taunts the younger actress yet still thumps her with a lot of venom during another slugging exchange in the center of the ring. Sabrina still thinks she can find the early magic and engages in a high-risk, high-reward tussle where she holds her own until a belting cross nails her on the navel and slumps her into sudden spasms. Ugh! Grimes jumps on the head-hunting pursuit taking advantage of Carpenter opening up too much and she clobbers her onto the ropes where she finds more success slicing the shaky guard in the process. Sabrina doesn't look so menacing anymore and suffers a nasty cut below the right eye while soaking up more hits right until the bell. Woof. Grimes is back on the money and taunts the stunned blonde before the ref tells her to cut the antics.
Round 5:
Shenae thinks she can take the blonde to the cleaners now... and she walks into a sudden right hook on the nose as Sabrina jumps on the speed dial to find the early mojo again. She mauls the brunette from point-blank range and forces her to accept the all or nothing drill. You asked for it so there you have it... but maybe you don't since Grimes is rocked by a right hook on the ear and loses her footing for a moment before Carpenter drills her in the stomach and keeps going until she breaks the Canadian's resilience. Another brutal shot finds the solar plexus and DROPS GRIMES ON HER KNEES amid a wild cheer from the Hard Rock patrons!! The upset(?) is back on and Shenae cuts an aching figure even when she gets up at seven. The creampuff blonde can punch here or what? The fight resumes but only for twenty odd seconds as Carpenter mauls the ailing veteran back to the ropes and cranks up the gut-checking value rendering Shenae numb before too long. Ref has seen enough and she STEPS IN just as Eva Mendes was looking for the towel herself. TKO5 Sabrina Carpenter!!!
AFTER: That's three wins in a row for the pint-sized blonde and that's not a bad number for any free agent on the market. However it turns out Sabrina won't be a free agent for much longer. Eva Mendes confirms the Lioness Club has offered the LA native a "development & futures" contract to come into effect as of today: "It's time to shake up the order and we need young talent behind Chloe G. and let's face it, Jessica Lowndes will remain the Lioness Alpha until she retires but she lives by her own rules. It's not a full-time LCA contract but we have the BBU original affiliate where Sabrina will be based if only by design. She's got her shot to prove if she's the real deal. She might not be ready for Florence Pugh or Lily Collins just yet but we're set up to bring Leighton Meester next month. That could be a fun one!" (winks).
