BEFORE:

"Here's the thing," says Christina with a shake of the head. "Katy's big enough to fight welter and big enough to fight JMDD...but, she's nowhere NEAR big enough to fight ME."

"Christina is definitely one of the most physical girls I've ever fought," Katy admits. "But, the bigger they come, the harder they fall. And, She's GOING to fall."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Step On' by Happy Mondays you hear behind us, one of the favorite songs of the redhead coming to the ring right now, Christina Hendricks!"

Tess: "So, tell us, Mac, could SHE be in 'Playboy'?"

McCarthy: "Probably a little too porky..."

O'Dell (sighing): "Christina into the ring and helped off with the robe, and she's getting quite the reaction from the crowd in that black number she's wearing. And, that's 'California Gurls' you hear pounding through the arena, and here comes 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry!"

Cassie: "As we've discussed previously, Front Street is planning to work Katy at both welterweight and JMDD, and, here's a chance to do both at once."

O'Dell: "Perry into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that red number she likes. And, we're about ready for some picks. Tess likes Katy. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Hendricks is too big and too strong. Christina!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "Here we go. Hendricks boring forward here, wants to get in close and bang. Perry giving a little ground, working that left hand, sticking it in Christina's face to stop the forward motion, then punishing the redhead with right hands to the head or right hooks to the rack..."

Cassie: "This is the advantage Katy will have here. She's very athletic and can move much better than Christina."

O'Dell: "And, that's exactly what the brunette is doing. But, it's the jab that's the key. Over and over again in the face to slow down Hendricks' advance, followed by the right hands. Christina not hurt, but she's getting thumped and she's not getting much done offensively."

McCarthy: "If Perry stands in there and fights, Hendricks will make quick work of her!"

O'Dell: "Katy with a nice combination. Hendricks driving forward, tying Perry up, shoving her back. Katy gets the right hand free and hooks rack with it. Christina drives her into the ropes and the ref breaks them at the bell. Excellent first round for Perry who takes it wide."

Tess: "And leads 10-9."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second verse, same as the first. Redhead driving forward, trying to close and bang with the brunette, but Perry having none of it. She's moving laterally, giving some ground here and there, keeping her rival at bay with the jab, following on with right hands to the head, body, and jugs."

McCarthy: "Hendricks not getting frustrated. She's staying after Perry."

O'Dell: "She is. Fight plan is clearly to get physical with a lighter girl, but Katy's making that impossible, moving well, jabbing well, putting punches together well. Add it all up, and, for the second round in a row, the brunette is taking the fight to the redhead, who can't do much about it."

Tess: "Question is, can Hendricks find a way to get her terms."

O'Dell: "That's ABSOLUTELY the question, because, if not, there's probably not much of a chance of her coming away with the 'W' tonight. We're down under ten seconds in what's been another excellent round for the brunette. Katy with a combination and there's the bell. Perry wide again."

Cassie: "And, Katy now leads 20-18."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Hendricks with an adjustment. She's keeping the gloves high now as she works forward, looking to pick off that jab, get inside and bang, and it's working some. When Katy splits those gloves, she can still keep Christina at bay, but Hendricks is able to crowd the brunette and bang some now..."

McCarthy: "This is what Christina needs."

O'Dell: "Definitely seems to be and DOWN GOES PERRY! Oh, what a right hook from Hendricks and Perry dropped to her right side! This place is going nuts as the redhead goes to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Katy sits up at six. Seven. Eight. To her feet at nine. Ref gonna give the brunette the mandatory and wave on Hendricks..."

Cassie: "This is NOT where Katy wants to be..."

O'Dell: "Definitely is not. Hendricks charging forward, backing Perry up with hard shot. She's calling in artillery strikes now, PUNISHING the brunette with both hands. Perry hanging on along the ropes, guard high, jabbing back here and there as the ref watches closely. Ten seconds to go. Katy going to ride it out. Hendricks hooking jug right to the bell. Huge 10-8 round for Christina!"

Tess: "And, that evens things up at 28!"

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Hendricks in command as we start the fourth. Katy's legs still plenty iffy and that means the redhead can simply walk the brunette down behind that left jab. Perry engaged in somewhat of a fighting retreat, but it's a retreat nonetheless. It's Christina who's fighting lead now."

McCarthy: "And, she's looking to put this Dancing Hooker away!"

O'Dell: "That's definitely the plan. Perry able to keep the 'Off' switch hidden at the moment, but there's no question the redhead is looking for it. Meanwhile, she's landing hard shot to head and body, hooking rack when she can, generally punishing the brunette..."

Tess: "And this kind of punishment can add up quickly."

O'Dell: "Definitely can, and that's exactly what Hendricks is counting on. She's got Perry on the ropes now and she's going to work on the rack. Katy tying up, slipping away to the right and circling. Legs coming back around, but it's going to be far too late for this stanza. There's the bell. Hendricks. Wide."

Cassie: "And, Christina's got the 38-37 lead."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Hendricks forward behind that jab. Perry back to movement now, making things harder on the redhead, landing that jab and following on with right hands to the head or right hooks to the rack. Christina, though, blocking and slipping at times, stepping to, and getting off lusty."

McCarthy: "And, Perry beating feet out of there, because she's gun shy!"

O'Dell: "Not sure if she's gun shy, but the brunette has shown her plan isn't to simply stand and trade with a bigger, heavier woman, which, I suspect, is a pretty good strategy. Hendricks a NICE combination, hooks some rack. Perry bangs back with a hup-hup of her own, then circles away."

Cassie: "Close round so far."

O'Dell: "Definitely is. Neither fighter able to take control and this is the first two-way round we've seen in the contest. SHARP exchange there and Hendricks backs up Perry. Christina another quick flurry and there's the bell. As Cassie said, close. But, Hendricks gets the points."

Tess: "And, Christina's now up 48-46 at the half."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Second half begins with the same pattern. Hendricks forward, Perry moving laterally, giving ground. Katy lands the jab, hooks some rack off it. Christina TACKLES her into the ropes now and they're trading in there and HENDRICKS IS HURT! Redhead takes a short right hook to the chin and stumbles backward!"

Cassie: "NO idea how she took that! About five fighters in the FCBA could have taken that and stayed on their feet!"

O'Dell: "And, Katy determined to remedy that right now. She explodes off the ropes, letting the hands go, backing up the redhead, pinning her to the cables and PUMMELING THAT RACK! Hendricks trying to tie up, trying to cover up, but she's getting absolutely PASTED now!"

Tess: "Perry's down a couple. She needs to finish this..."

O'Dell: "And she's just TENDERIZING JUG right now. The starch is coming out of Christina. She's hanging on to the brunette and there's an uppercut and DOWN SHE GOES! Hendricks goes down like a felled tree, landing face first at Perry's feet! Katy to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. No movement at all from the redhead. Six. Seven. Eight. Not going to happen. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry!"

McCarthy: "This stable has a barn FULL of horseshoes..."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Cassie Scerbo!"

Cassie: "I have our winner, Katy Perry, and, Katy, you had to get up off the deck to win this one..."

Katy (nodding): "Yeah. She hits as hard as anyone I've been in with. And, she caught me a really good one. But, I knew if I could get out of the round, I'd win the fight. And, that's exactly what happened."

Cassie: "So, lots of options for you right now. Light. Welter. JMDD. The beach. Any preferences?"

Katy (shrugging): "I just want to stay active. I'd love to get a chance at a title, so, whatever gets me there, let's do it!"
