INVASION OF THE "M" GIRLS AT THE ASYLUM

BEFORE:

"This girl has failed everywhere she's been," says Livvy with a smile. "So, Front Street is propping her up now, and everybody thinks she's turned some kind of corner. Well. I'm here to disabuse you all of that notion."

"I've had my ups and downs," says a hard-eyed Peyton. "But. Thing HAVE changed for me, and something's going to change for Munn, too. Her face. When I rearrange it."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Ain't No Rest For The Wicked' by Cage The Elephant and here comes the lovely Olivia Munn of Sceej Boxing!"

McCarthy: "A REAL fighter, FINALLY! And Livvy's going to WIPE THE FLOOR with this Dancing Hooker!"

Cassie: "Don't hold back, Mac! Tell us how you REALLY feel!"

McCarthy: "List is a typical Dancing Hooker. No talent. Overrated. And, Munn is going to PROVE it!"

O'Dell: "Olivia into the ring and helped off with the robe, and the crowd is popping for the lovely Livvy in that white number we've seen before..."

All I wanna eat is cherry licorice

I don't care if it sounds ridiculous

Even the birds and the bees

Eat how they damn well please...

O'Dell: "And, that's 'Cherry Licorice" by the Felice Brothers, and here comes 'The Cobra', Peyton List!"

Tess: "And, it's, indeed, been a big year for Peyton. She was 2-8 when she came to Front Street last year, and she's gone 11-1 since, including some solid wins against Benoist and Rickards this fall."

O'Dell: "Peyton into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, and the crowd clearly appreciating the lovely blonde in that baby blue number she likes. Ladies about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Peyton. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Munn will OBLITERATE this Dancing Hooker!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "Here we go. List right to work with that long left jab. She wants to box here, does not want to get into a brawl with Livvy, who's definitely shown that she can fight and fight well on those terms. Munn being kept at bay for the moment. Brunette moving the feet, looking to get forward..."

McCarthy: "If this Dancing Hooker thinks she's going to get away with this against Munn, she's dumber than Weirdo!"

O'Dell: "She's getting away with it right now. It's a good, accurate left combined with good foot movement that's got Munn flummoxed. Livvy can't get to spots, and, when she does, she can't get off in combination. Brunette's offense is all one-punch stuff at the moment..."

Tess: "List has REALLY grown as a fighter in the time she's been at Front Street. She's not only winning fights now, she's beating good fighters."

O'Dell: "She certainly is, and she's putting one on a pretty good fighter right now. Munn getting her face powdered repeatedly right now, as she doggedly tries to get something going. But, it's not going to happen in this frame. There's the bell. List takes it wide in the first."

Cassie: "And grabs the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Munn with a tactical change now. More lateral motion. Looking to angle forward, slip that jab, get inside and bang, and she's having some success doing it. List tying her up in there, holding on, waiting for the ref to break the pair, then getting back to range..."

McCarthy: "DIRTY! Warn her, ref! Warn her!"

O'Dell: "Munn works back inside, bangs some body. Again, List ties up, hangs on, gets a break. Peyton back to the jab, scoring at range. Munn back inside, works more body and lands a good right to the head. Again, Peyton ties her up and gets her break and the distance she wants."

Cassie: "This is one of those differences in List, right BFF..."

Tess: "Sure is. She's not getting spooked. She's sticking with what she wants to do."

O'Dell: "And, it's limiting the damage when Munn gets in her grill, where Olivia is right now. Solid right from the brunette before Peyton ties up again. Final seconds ticking way. Ref breaks the pair, but there's the bell. Close this time, but the points go to Munn, who evens things at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Pattern set now. It's List on the outside, working the left jab, dropping in right hands behind it. Blonde wants to box at range. Brunette does not. Instead, Munn angling, moving forward, closing, hooking body, then going back upstairs, scoring until List ties up or slips away."

McCarthy: "And, this HOMETOWN ref will NOT warn her for clinching!"

O'Dell: "Livvy may not be 25 anymore, but she can still move. Dipping under the glove there to get inside and bang that tummy. List tying up, holding on, getting her break, then getting back to work on the outside. Good stuff from both fighters in this stanza."

Tess: "And not a lot in it."

O'Dell: "Definitely is not. We're coming down the stretch with Livvy slipping past Peyton's defenses and working that body. Munn doing a LOT of investing right now, and it could pay off later. List ties up, holds on, gets a break and there's the bell. Close again. Munn again."

Cassie: "And, Olivia pulls into the 29-28 lead."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth verse, same as the third. And the second. It's all about terms right now. List getting work done when she's able to get the distance she wants, keeping Munn at punching range, dropping hard right hands on her. Livvy's making a living on the inside..."

Cassie: "Where she's working a TON of body."

O'Dell: "Yes, she is. No question Munn thinks this is the way to beat Peyton, to wear her out to the body. Hasn't worked yet, but we're only about eleven minutes in. Long way to go in this one. List tying up again, holding on, forcing a break. Gets the distance and gets back to work."

Tess: "Lots of fights, you think 'something's got to give', but not in this one. We could well go all the way to the final bell like this."

O'Dell: "Sure could. Both women getting some of what they want, if not nearly enough of it to suit either. And, speaking of bells, we're about fifteen seconds away from the one that will end this round. List a good flurry there. Livvy steps forward and Peyton ties her up. There's the bell. Close to List."

McCarthy: "And, we're even at 38. But the Munnster has this kid RIGHT where she wants her!"

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Ladies continuing to work their respective fight plans. List on the outside, Munn on the inside, and every round of the bout has been decided by who gets more of the terms she wants. Three very close rounds to this point and a dead even fight through four rounds."

McCarthy: "Just a matter of TIME before the Munnster gets her."

O'Dell: "Or, perhaps, until all that body work Olivia has invested in pays off, because she's working the ribs and belly once again as we speak. Again, Peyton ties up, hangs on, gets her break, gets back to boxing off that effective left jab, keeping it in Munn's face as much as possible."

Cassie: "Really good stuff from both fighters."

O'Dell: "Definitely has been. We're down to the last thirty seconds of the fifth. Munn again working the ribs on the inside, goes upstairs to land a SOLID right hook. Peyton ties her up, waits for the ref to break them, then gets back to the jab, and there's the bell. Close again. Munn."

Tess: "And Olivia leads 48-47 at the half."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Second half underway, in what's been an excellent boxing match so far. List snapping out that left, dropping right hands in behind it. Scoring well at range. Munn slick and athletic, moving past the glove to get inside and tenderize meat, as she hammers that midsection..."

Tess: "Definitely going to add up. Hasn't yet, but it will."

O'Dell: "List slipping away, getting back to range, making with the left hand again. Munn angling, working inside, hooking the ribs and EATS A RIGHT UPPERCUT! Munn dropping the head directly into the path of an uppie and DOWN SHE GOES AFTER A BLISTERING RIGHT HOOK!"

McCarthy: "GET UP, YOU BUM! GET UP RIGHT NOW!"

O'Dell: "List to a neutral corner. Munn down on her right side. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Livvy pushing to hands and knees at six. Seven. Munn getting to her feet and stumbling back to the canvas! Eight. Nine, TEN! It's over! Olivia face first on the mat as the count passes her by and it's OVER! And your winner is 'The Cobra', Peyton List!"

McCarthy: "FAST COUNT! FAST COUNT! DON'T YOU EYE ME, CAMPBELL! I'LL COME UP THERE..."

Cassie: "Might want to cue up 'Swan Lake', just in case..."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Peyton List, and, Peyton, a BIG win for you..."

Peyton (smiling): "No doubt about it. A former champion. A heck of a fighter. You've got to bring your 'A' game to beat her. And, I brought it."

Tess: "Crowded bantamweight division at Front Street, but you look like you're ready to take a step forward..."

Peyton: "No question about it. I didn't come here to be average. I came to win championships, and, next year, I'm going to break through to contender level. Count on it."
