INVASION OF THE "M" GIRLS AT THE ASYLUM
Posted by Guest on 31 December 2022 at 8:19 pm
BEFORE:
"Look," says Taylor with a smile, "I'm a better singer than her, a better songwriter than her, and, tonight, I'll prove I'm a better FIGHTER than her!"
"She's a pretty good songwriter," Tate admits, "And a great singer. But, when we get in the ring tonight, it's going to be all about my FIST and her JAW."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's 'Going To Hell' by the Pretty Reckless, and here comes the lead singer of that tune, the lovely Taylor Momsen..."
McCarthy: "ONE FCBA win. ONE! I demand an investigation!"
Cassie: "HERE we go..."
McCarthy: "HOW does Weirdo get away with this? HOW?"
O'Dell (sighing): "Taylor into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal that black number we've seen before, and the crowd clearly liking it."
Tess: "Mac are you going to threaten to jump up there, or, now that you're a Cougar, are you going to keep your granny panties covered?"
McCarthy: "Granny...YOU...SHUT UP, WALMART!"
O'Dell: "Drink up boys, while you listed to 'Vicious' booming through the arena behind us, and here comes the singer of that tune, 'The Calgary Crusader', Tate McRae!"
Cassie: "Tate's had a VERY busy first year for Front Street. This is her eighth fight...and she definitely wants to keep the freshman winning streak going."
O'Dell: "McRae into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. Crowd popping for Tate in that admiral blue number she likes. And, the ladies are about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Tate. Mac?"
McCarthy: "ONE FCBA win! McRae!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Unanimous in the first and the ladies get right to range to do some boxing. Both fighters have plenty of length and like to extend on their punches. Tate using a little more movement, Taylor a little more active with the left jab, working the right hand off it."
Cassie: "Some really nice boxing going on here..."
O'Dell: "Especially from two fighters who've combined for fewer than a dozen FCBA fights. Movement of head, feet, hands. All about angles and timing right now. McRae a nice combination and Momsen fires right back with one of her own. Really good two-way stuff right now..."
McCarthy: "Two tomato cans..."
O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch in a very closely fought first. Ladies staying busy, working hard, exchanging sharp leather. Ten seconds remaining. Good combination from Taylor that forces Tate to cover up and there's the bell. Very close, but Momsen gets the points..."
Tess: "And takes the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "More ranged boxing as we start the second. Ladies showing good movement, working the jab, looking for openings for those solid right hands. Momsen, as we've seen in her two previous appearances here, very methodical, very slick. Definitely knows what she's doing in there."
McCarthy: "Tomato. Can."
O'Dell: "McRae using all those physicals. So quick and athletic, slipping punches, landing lightning leather. It's good, two-way stuff for the second round in a row. Canadian and American working hard, scoring points, but not managing to gain any sort of advantage at the moment."
Tess: "NICE right hand by McRae!"
O'Dell: "And Momsen responds with a nice flurry of her own. Tate banging back and they're going AT it in the final seconds, looking to steal points here. Sharp exchange. Another. And ANOTHER at the bell! Wow! What a round! Going to be very close again, this time to Tate."
Cassie: "And we're even at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third underway and Momsen starts it with a bang. Taylor getting off in combination, backing up Tate. McRae giving ground and covering up, thrown over to the defensive here, as the blonde ups the aggression considerably. GOOD combination from Momsen!"
Tess: "Might have Tate spooked a little..."
O'Dell: "Definitely has her on the back foot. Brunette banging back in counter in spots, but that's about all she can manage, as the American has taken over. She's keeping up a steady forward pressure, forcing the brunette back over and over again, imposing will at the moment."
Cassie: "Tate's got to set her feet and bang back here..."
O'Dell: "I suspect she's going to hear that, in no uncertain terms, from Neve Campbell in the corner in about 25 seconds. Meanwhile, Momsen's rolling as the final seconds tick off the clock. Good combination from Taylor and another and there's the bell. The blonde takes it wide."
McCarthy: "And Tomato Can 1 leads Tomato Can 2 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Momsen again looking to force the issue, but McRae has, indeed, heard it from Neve Campbell, and she's holding ground and banging back and WE'VE GOT A FIREFIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING! Ladies thumping away at one another, trading BOMBS in there..."
Cassie: "Like I said, this is what Tate needs to do!"
O'Dell: "And she's doing it, but so is Taylor. Blonde and brunette determined to impose will here, and nobody willing to be imposed UPON. SHARP right from Taylor backed Tate up a step, but the Canadian steps right back to and lands a solid flurry that forces the American to cover up."
McCarthy: "YAWN. Palicki could have beaten BOTH of these girls in two rounds. One round each."
O'Dell: "Down the stretch we come and the pace is not slowing. Ladies still after one another in a big way, landing TONS of heavy leather here, but there's nothing sloppy about any of it. Both women staying sound, playing solid defense, but so much leather is flying that plenty is landing and there's the bell. Close. Tate."
Tess: "And, we're even at 38."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Into the fifth and the fighters are at one another aggressively again. Both are determined to force the pace here, and the result is action-packed stuff with lots of leather flying and lots of it landing. GOOD right from Momsen there and McRae fires back with a SOLID left hook..."
McCarthy: "One of these tomato cans is going to knock the other one out, mostly by mistake..."
O'Dell: "I think that's EXACTLY what both are planning, and there'll be no mistake about it if it happens. GOOD right from Tate! That wobbled Taylor. Momsen covering up and MCRAE DROPS HER WITH A RIGHT HOOK! A BRUTAL hook from the Canadian and the American is down on her right side..."
Tess: "That might do it..."
O'Dell: "McRae to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Taylor sitting up at six. Seven. Momsen to her feet at eight! Ref gives her the mandatory and waves on Tate. McRae a house afire, winging away with both hands, trapping Taylor on the cables, STAGGERING her with a right hook. Momsen clinching. Tate punches free and sends Taylor stumbling along the ropes with a right hand and IT'S OVER! The ref leaps in and it's OVER! And your winner by KO5 is 'The Calgary Crusader', Tate McRae!"
Cassie: "Good stuff from Tate. Really good stuff."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Tate McRae, and, Tate, we came to a boxing match and a fight broke out!"
Tate (laughing): "Yeah. We definitely came in wanting to box. I've got the tools to do that, obviously. But, she forced the issue, and, when a girl does that, you have to be able to respond. And, I did."
Tess: "You've already fought lightweight, welterweight, and on Asylum beach in your first year in the FCBA. I'm hearing JMDD might also be in your future..."
Tate (nodding): "That's right. We're up for whatever may come. We'll see what opportunities we get, then go take advantage of them."
