Perrie Edwards vs Mandy Capristo (Frankie's Foxes vs Lioness Club) (6-14, 6 KO vs 15-12, 15 KO) Results: BBU; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: The Geordie fan favorite Perrie Edwards returns to the ring hoping to upset Mandy Capristo who is in desperate need of some quality wins after being bounced by newcomer Tori Kelly several months ago. Some pundits have written Mandy off as a contender already but the Lioness entourage doesn't see the writing on the wall if only the German's hype doesn't quite match the actual production. There are no excuses tonight though, Perrie is one of these opponents Mandy has to demolish to silence the critics!
Perrie Edwards wears a black crop top, jeans shorts & red gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a high ponytail. Mandy Capristo wears a red crop top, jeans shorts & golden gloves. Long light brown hair tied in a braid. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1: Perrie makes a good start and powers ahead with some quick jabs but she can't quite land that big punch even though the German singer remains lethargic for majority of the opening round and doesn't seem interested to make an early statement. Lioness coach Mel B. keeps her composure even when Perrie lands a vicious left hook on the jaw and bundles the fellow singer onto the ropes where Mandy clinches her with a standing headlock and lands a cheap shot on the kidneys. Woof. A brief wrestling struggle follows which actually makes Edwards visibly upset so she rattles off a rapid fire series on the brunette's mouth and leaves her nursing a fat lip come the bell already.
Round 2: Another promising start from the Geordie singer but Mandy matches her early slugging drill so the Cardiff audience is treated with an above average punching display which continues into the second minute and that's something Mel B. didn't really expect. Perrie's punching resistance is an old weakness but she rises through the German's chaotic efforts and nails her on the mouth to assume dominant position in the center of the ring. One quick hook and Mandy gets busted on the brow ridge and suddenly she develops more swelling as Perrie piles on the pressure and thumps the shockingly ineffective opponent back to the ropes. Capristo tries to punch herself back into contention but her defense remains MIA and Perrie cleans her up with more vicious head shots to raise many eyebrows around the arena.
Round 3: Mandy flies out of the gate and tries to put Edwards back where she belongs alas the Geordie blonde dances her way around the early blitz and loops a fine response gashing the German's face instead. Ugh! Mel B. is ready to boil over now but she can only watch as Mandy soaks up more facial hits and stumbles back to the ropes looking extremely hittable in the process. She finds a clinching response in the second minute but only matches the former Little Mix singer's production thereafter as both women trade more blows in the vintage phone booth with Perrie looking as comfortable as she even was to the point she verbally taunts the frustrated German at the bell.
Round 4: Mandy finally sticks a couple of good series to dominate the early exchange and knocks Perrie's head around with a sustained drive up the middle. The Geordie singer tries to stay in the slugging lane and believes she can outbox the hitherto struggling German but she bounces off her forearms too often to make a clear difference and gets tackled to the body thereafter as Capristo slowly begins to stretch her elbows in the process. She keeps working Edwards to the body and closes her down in the corner where she adds more leather on target to make the blonde look vulnerable for the first time tonight.
Round 5: Perrie wants to regain her dominant position but a quick uppercut burst catches her square on the jaw early in the going and she loses her footing to open the floodgates for Mandy's slugging return. The German singer lands more heavy shots up the middle and connects with majority of them while gradually working the blonde towards the turnbuckle where they both end up just after the half-way mark of the round. Perrie tries to swing back from behind the guard but gets beaten by a split second repeatedly and doesn't carry enough power supply to throw Capristo off her mark. The back & forth exchange gives the audience something to enjoy alright but the outcome favors the older singer by the numbers while Edwards has to deal with swollen lips and suddenly demands Plan B from Foxes coach Nicola McLean.
Round 6: Mandy shuts down Perrie with another left/right combo on each temple and thumps her in the chest moments later to leave the crowd favorite breathless for a split second. That's more than enough for Mandy to drop the hammer when she lands another vicious hook on the temple and follows through with a right hook on the nose that slumps the Geordie singer into loud spasms.... Perrie is HURT and half-spins to the side but she can't escape another brutal double moments later that spills blood from her nose. Uh-oh!!! Mandy hits the jackpot and carries more punches on target while the stunned blonde can't find any sort of response and gets bashed around in the center of the ring until her legs simply give way and she COLLAPSES INTO A SOBBING MESS just before the two-minute mark. Ugh! The ref almost slips on some spilled blood and Perrie doesn't offer much hope with a hollow look in her face as she sits down on her heels and lets the merciless count to pass her by. Ugh! What a bitter end to such a promising performance! KO6 Mandy Capristo!!!
AFTER: The Foxes really let one get away here as Perrie led on the scorecards yet found a way to let Mandy off the hook. PR director Myleene Klass vows to make amends for this unfortunate result and threatens to unleash Tiffany Stanley on "any Lioness tramp brave enough to fight her" but Mandy ducks the verbal dart and decides to celebrate with her own entourage instead. BBU TV's Denise van Outen claims the German singer didn't exactly inspire confidence despite the result and her contender status should still be listed as "TBD" for better or worse!
Official Result: Mandy Capristo def. Perrie Edwards KO6. |
