Ana de Armas vs Sydney Sweeney
(Writing: LMW / Results: Lookout!)

Ana de Armas
(35, 5’6, 19-7 FCBA, League of Mighty Women)

Sydney Sweeney
(26, 5’3 ½, 17-11 FCBA, GBS & Lookout! Boxing)

Pre-Fight: Next up, League of Mighty Women’s Ana de Armas will be facing Sydney Sweeney, who is now co-managed by Global Boxing Syndicate and Lookout! Boxing. Ana will be looking to bounce back from a bitter loss against her rival Lily (Collins) in her previous fight. That fight also snapped her five-fight winning streak, so she will be hoping to start a new one with a win here. As for Sydney, after an amazing start to her career, she plateaued for a while and now she is on a three-fight losing streak. She has changed her training routines and sparring partners now that she is co-managed though, so she will be looking to gain positive momentum with a win here to get her career back on track.

Ana takes the lead in the pre-fight press conference and starts addressing the audience with a confident look on her face. “That bytch Lily got lucky last time, which is unlucky for sweet Sydney here, because I will take my frustration out on her! I apologize in advance for that, but I won’t be showing you any mercy in the ring, chica! Plus, I was sparring with Anya (Taylor-Joy) and she told me that you work great as a tune-up fight opponent, so this will be easy!” Ana clearly enjoys mocking her opponent as she smiles at her.

Sydney is not happy with her opponent’s words though as she frowns and then directly addresses Ana. “You will eat those words, Ana! If a flyweight like Lily can make you quit with body punches, then I will destroy your fragile body! You can’t handle my physicality, neither your bytch of a stablemate, nor the rest of the bantams. It is time that I prove that again to the rest of the FCBA!” Looks like Sydney is pumped up as she gets up and flexes her arms for the cameras. Ana gets up as well and comes over to bump Sydney with her chest and she bumps her back as things get physical. Both camps intervene and separate their fighters before things can get out of hand though.

It is fight night and Ana enters the arena first with her coach Gillian Anderson accompanying her. She pumps her fists and blows kisses to the fans cheering for her. Once inside the ring, she shadow boxes and listens to Gillian as she goes over their tactics.

Ana is wearing a red sports bra with matching trunks, white gloves and boots, while her hair is tied in double Dutch braids.

Sydney makes her entrance next and she is accompanied by her coach for this fight, Julie Benz. She waves and blows kisses to the fans as they cheer loudly for her. Her big smile disappears as she enters the ring though and then she bangs her gloves together as she stares at her opponent.

Sydney is wearing a black sports bra, matching trunks, gloves and boots, while her hair is tied in a ponytail.

Both fighters come to the center of the ring to receive final instructions from the referee and then they go for a stiff touch of gloves as they glare at each other. Then they step back to their respective corners and we are ready for 10 rounds of bantamweight action!

Fight: Round 1: Both fighters are ready to go at it and they rush to meet at the center of the ring as soon as the bell rings. Ana lands a one-two combination on the approach to kick things off and then once inside Sydney lands a couple of hooks to the ribs. They continue to stand and exchange as Ana lands a lead uppercut to the body and then a hook up top. Sydney answers with a couple of shovel hooks to the abs. Ana lands a jab and then goes for a hook to the chin, but Sydney ducks right in time and lands a hook of her own to her opponent’s stretched ribs. Ana winces and steps back as she decides it is time to withdraw from this exchange after that body shot hurts her. Sydney follows her opponent and tries to apply pressure, but Ana keeps her at bay with one-two combinations. Towards the end of the round, Sydney tries to get inside again, but walks right into a stiff straight that lands to the top of her head and stuns her for a moment. Ana quickly lands a hook to the ribs and another hook to the chin. Sydney switches to defense to close out the round and keeps her guard high.

It was a close round, but Ana edges her opponent with that late offense and wins the round narrowly. During the break, Gillian tells Ana to keep her distance and utilize her reach advantage. At the opposite corner, Julie tells Sydney to be more aggressive to step inside and force exchanges from close range.

Round 2: At the start of the second round, Ana keeps her feet moving and uses defensive jabs to keep Sydney away, but the younger fighter is set on getting inside and she forces her way in, not minding eating a couple of jabs on her way in. Sydney quickly gets to work and scores with a couple of hooks to the ribs. Ana shoves her away with her forearm to create some space and then back away. Sydney is coming forward relentlessly though, so she gets inside again to land a lead uppercut to the abs and then a hook that targets Ana’s ribs again. The Cuban fighter isn’t happy with the situation, so she decides to slow things down by clinching with her opponent. Even in the clinch, Sydney tries to push forward and establish her physical dominance. They end up tangling and falling down to the canvas together. The referee quickly intervenes, stops the action to separate them and lets them get back to their feet before restarting the fight.

It doesn’t take long before Sydney gets inside and starts to overwhelm Ana with body shots again, the Cuban just can’t keep her opponent away. Ana keeps backing away, but Sydney closes the distance to get inside again and keep punishing the Cuban fighter’s body. Just as Ana gets doubled over by a nasty shovel hook to the midsection, the bell rings and saves her from more punishment. It was all Sydney in this round. During the break, the corner team applies ice packs to Ana’s reddened body, while Gillian discusses ways to counter her opponent with Ana.

Round 3: Sydney is on the attack at the start of the third round as she wants to pick up from where she left off, pounding Ana’s body. The Cuban on the defense, circling the ring and using defensive jabs to keep her opponent away, which wasn’t effective at all in the last round and it is not slowing down Sydney right now either. She ducks under the jab and gets inside to throw a hook, but Ana steps back just in time to barely avoid it. The same thing happens a few more times, which starts to frustrate the American fighter. As a result, Sydney decides to step in more aggressively, but Ana’s new tactic comes into play as she feints with a jab and then lands a right uppercut to the chin of ducking Sydney. It lands hard and hurts Sydney, who is now backing away. Ana pursues her and lands a double jab-straight combination that drives her opponent further back. Another one-two and Sydney is backed into the ropes. She tightens up her guard to weather the storm as it is Ana’s turn to punish her opponent. She blasts the American’s guard with some powerful shots and then goes to the body to land a couple of hooks to the ribs. It forces Sydney to readjust her guard and Ana uses this opportunity to split her guard and land a stiff straight that lands flush on Sydney’s left eye and snaps her head back. Looking hurt, it is Sydney's turn to clinch with her opponent as she wraps her arms around Ana to slow her down. The referee ends up separating them and Sydney goes back to defending as Ana comes forward with short combinations again. The Cuban lands a few more stiff straights that rock Sydney, but the American fighter stays upright and gets saved by the bell. Ana returns the favor with a shutout round of her own. We have already seen some wild momentum swings in this match, so it is hard to say what will happen next, but what we have seen so far is that both these fighters are intent on hurting each other when they get the chance. This time, it is Sydney’s corner team that is working hard to get their fighter ready for the next round and use the enswell under her left eye.

Round 4: It is still early in the fight, but both fighters already sustained significant damage and expended a lot of energy. They are more cautious at the start of the fourth round as Ana favors protecting her body, while Sydney keeps her guard close to her left eye. Ana tries to press on with her advantage early in the round, but Sydney seems to have recovered enough to defend and fight back better, so it leads to a slower and more balanced round. Ana tags her opponent from mid range with short combinations, while Sydney occasionally gets inside to land a couple of hard body shots. At the end of the round, Ana lands more shots in total, but Sydney lands more significant shots, so the American gets a narrow win and ties up the scorecards.

Round 5: They start to pick up the pace again in the fifth round with both fighters willing to engage early on. They both go for the head as they stand and trade in the center of the ring with Ana starting things off with a stiff one-two combination as Sydney approaches and then the American lands a hook to the chin to answer once she gets in range. After a few blocked and dodged shots on both sides, Ana slips a straight that lands on Sydney’s left eye again. The American tries to answer back with an uppercut, but Ana blocks it and then counters with a hook to the chin and another straight that targets the left eye. Sydney realizes that this is a losing battle for her, so she gives a forearm push and then steps back to disengage. Sydney lands a few body shots when Ana gets too close, but the American is forced to defend for the remainder of the round. Meanwhile, Ana keeps targeting that left eye with short combinations, trying to shut it down. She doesn’t succeed in doing so in this round, but she has done some significant damage and wins the round wide. Sydney’s corner team is put to work once again as they apply enswell to keep the swelling around that left eye under control.

Round 6: With the swelling getting worse around her left eye, Sydney is feeling the urgency and makes a more aggressive start to the sixth round. Ana is still targeting that left eye with one-two combinations, but Sydney bobs and weaves through them to get inside. Once she gets close, she goes after those battered ribs of Ana with a couple of hard hooks that make the Cuban wince. Ana gives a forearm push to create some space and then lands a lead uppercut to the chin, but there is not much power behind it and Sydney quickly answers back with another set of hooks to the ribs that double Ana over. The American fighter uses her left arm to prop Ana up and then lands three powerful shovel hooks to the abs in rapid succession that buckles Ana’s knees and the Cuban crumbles to the mat! Sydney walks over to the neutral corner as the referee begins the count. 1…2…3… Ana rolls on her back and holds and wraps her arms around her battered tummy 4…5…6… she slowly gets up to one knee, trying to muster her strength 7…8… she gets up and signals that she wants to continue. After a quick check the referee restarts the action.

Ana tries to keep her opponent away with a double jab, but there is no stopping Sydney now. She puts the pressure on a still hurting Ana and backs her into the ropes. The Cuban tries to turtle up and weather the storm, but there is still a minute left in the round and it doesn’t take long for Sydney to break the Cuban’s defenses with a relentless attack. Ana is getting pasted with Sydney’s barrage of body shots, but the ropes keep her up on her feet as she slumps against them, so the referee intervenes to save Ana from further harm and signals for the bell! It is all over!

Official Result: Winner via TKO in round 6, Sydney Sweeney!

Post-Fight: Sydney celebrates her victory by flexing her arms in front of a docile Ana. “How was that for an easy fight, huh!? I told you that you can’t deal with my physicality, bytch!” As Sydney takes a break from mocking her opponent to get her gloves removed by her team, the referee escorts Ana to the safety of her corner, where the medical staff checks her up. Just as Ana gets cleared, Sydney comes over and demands a walk of shame. Before Gillian can argue that her fighter is in no shape to do so, Ana gets up to her feet, realizing that she will get humiliated one way or another. Sydney wraps her right arm tightly around Ana’s bruised ribs, making her wince and then she parades her defeated foe around the ring. Once the walk of shame is complete, Sydney pushes Ana to the arms of Gillian, who helps her fighter to leave the ring and head backstage.

Inside the ring, Sydney gets her hand raised by the referee and then she takes the microphone to make a statement after her win. “I’m back with a win and now I’m on the right track to fulfill my potential. Ana thought that it would be an easy fight and I made sure that she paid for it. Maybe she should stop listening to her buddy Anya. She got lucky last time, but Anya can’t handle my physicality either. Anya… I just humiliated your stablemate, so if you think that I’m easy to deal with, why don’t we fight again!? I will either ride you or walk you, but either way we are going around that ring!” Sydney drops the mic and flexes her arms towards the camera before leaving the ring victorious with her coach.
