BEFORE
In Charlize’s dressing room she is getting ready. After the Nolin bout, she went straight to the massage table and actually fell asleep while Cassandra Lynn was giving her an excellent massage. She was aroused a half hour ago and given a energy drink. Neve asked “How do you feel. Charlize said “I feel fine, but I am a little sore where Nolin fouled me” Neve “You sure you want to go through this”
Chalize “I’m fighting Cat Bell. We have fought numerous times, She’s a great fighter and she doesn’t foul.
Their attention is drawn to the television as Cat Bell has been introduced.Cat “I’m looking forward to tonights fight, I haven’t been in a real fight in years but I am now a trainer and am in the ring everyday. I bet I am in better shape than Charlize’ Charlize and I have fought nineteen times with her winning ten. I won the last one and I really felt sorry for her stretched out on her back, out cold. I had been hired to plan a crusade where she would not know her opponent until the day before the fight. I would not only pick the fighters, I would schedule them. I would train her to fight because I knew who she was fighting. What she didn’t know was I was going to be one of her opponents. I scheduled two really good fighters for fights before mine, but for my fight I trained her for someone else. The day before the fight she learned I was her opponent. She was devastated. She felt betrayed. She was so upset I knew I had already won the fight. She didn’t sleep that night, but she still managed to last ten rounds before she went down. Tonight either I am going to even the score at ten apiece or she is going to get revenge
The two are in the ring for instructions that Theron has now heard 480 times. Cat Bell is in a black bikini with black boots and gloves, Her hair is hanging loosely just above her shoulders. Theron is in her usual red bikini with red gloves and boots. Her hair is in a ponytail. They touch gloves and head to their corners ready to do battle.
THE FIGHT
Round 1. The two meet in the center of the ring. Charlize pushes out her usual fight opening right jab. Bell lands a left to the side of Theron’s head. Charlize steps back and then moves back in with another jab to Bell’s mouth. Cat shakes It off, steps in with a left cross followed by a right. Theron manages to land a right hook to Cat’s jaw but pays for it with an overhand right to the forehead. Charlize is now on the ropes her hands up protecting her face. Bell accepts the invitation and starts working on the blondes body with lefts and rights to the midsection. Charlize is growing desperate. She has to get off the ropes. With Cat working on her body, Charlize manages a right to the brunettes jaw and then a left. Bell steps back and the blondes slides along the ropes and is able to get back towards the center of the ring with Bell in hot pursuit. Again they meet and start exchanging right and left crosses with Bell having the advantage as the round ends. In Theron’s corner Neve tells her she lost the round, She is too defensive. She needs to get aggressive
Round 2. Following Neve’s comments, Charlize is quickly out of her corner and is ready to do some punching as she meets Cat. She quickly lands a couple right jabs sending Bell back a couple steps and then catches Cat with a right cross, then a left and a fight hook to the chin. Bell moves away to regroup and then comes back at Theron with a left to the right side of Theron’s head and then a left hook into the blonde’s stomach that pumps some breath from her. The punch doesn’t stop Charlize. She is back with more crosses and a hard right hook to the chin that sends Bell back to the ropes. Charlize moves to take advantage of Bell being on the ropes, but is stopped by another of Bell’s over hand rights. They are back In the center of the ring circling looking for an opening when the round ends. In Charlize’s corner, Neve tells her that was much better and she took the round and they are now even. She tells Charlize to continue to be aggressive, but not to the point of slugging it out That will come later.
Round 3. Bell apparently got the same advise as Charlize as both are fast out of their corners. This time Bell beats the blonde to the punch with a right to the head. Charlize comes back with a roundhouse left that Bell avoids and criss crosses the blonde’s face. She has Charlize staggering back to the ropes. Theron’s guard rises to protect her face and Bell goes to the body going to work on Charlize’s midsection. Charlize sags into the ropes as her hands are up protecting her face. Bell is intent on killing the body and taking the blonde’s legs away, but Theron’s sagging in the is taking some of the steam out of Bell’s attack The referee is watching Theron concerned that she sagging in the ropes, but just then Theron straightens up with a left hook to Bell’s chin that send her back a couple steps, Bell is right back at Theron, but the blonde’s has moved away from the ropes. She is intent on staying away from Bell for the time being as the round comes to an end. Once again, Neve is telling Charlize that Bell has the lead because she is more aggressive.
Round 4. Theron is told she need to be more aggressive. So be it, She surprises Bell by meeting her just a couple feet from her corner. A couple crosses swivel Bell’s head and a hook to the chin pick up her head. Bell starts to punch back at blonde’s head while Charlize goes to the body ripping her gloves into Bell’s midsection. The body work is starting to tell, but Bell goes unconventional by putting both gloves on Theron’s shoulders and giving her a big shove, Charlize looses her balance and Bell is back to the center of the ring waiting for Theron.
Theron lunges at Bell with her right ready, but Bell beats her to the punch and steps aside as Theron goes face first into the ropes but she spins around and luckily catches Bell with a right cross and once again Theron is off the ropes. They meet and start slugging away. They are in the phone booth, neither backing away. The crowd is on it’s feet for a only seconds as the round ends
Round 5. Both fighters appear to be in good shape and ready to go more rounds. Once again the two meet in the center of the ring, but they are more jabbing and building points rather than slugging and putting their opponent down for the count. It’s apparently a lull in the action as each look for an advantage, but not for long as the slugging starts. There’s no defense as the two both go for the knockout. Suddenly, a Bell uppercut buckles Therons legs. Bell goes into high gear criss crossing Theron’s head. She buries a right into Theron’s solar plexus. As the blonde starts to double over, an uppercut straightens her up and a right cross sends her into the ropes. Another uppercut picks up Theron’s head. Bell steps back expecting Theron to go down, which is what she does. Charlize drops to her knees and then pitches forward onto her face. Bell stands there looking at the beaten blonde until the referee points to the corner, Charlize is starting to move as the count begins. She’s on both knees at four. One knee is up at six and Charlize is up at eight, but she is unsteady and sprawls into the ropes. The referee is preparing to stop the fight, but Theron screams “no you don’t “ and gets her gloves up. The referee takes a look at her eyes and waives Bell back in. As her prepares to finish her opponent, the bell sounds. Did Bell’s delay in going to a corner after the knockdown cost her a KO? In Theron’s corner, her gang goes into high gear. They have one minute to rehab her.
Round 6. Bell has the fight won, just a couple more punches or so she thinks. She is surprised when Theron comes right at her. Charlize lands a right to the head and then a left. An uppercut picks up Bells chin and another right collides with her nose. A desperate right to the jaw stops Theron and sends her back a step or two. Bell moves parallel to the ropes and away from Theron seeking time to recover. Charlize is following looking for the kill. She knows Bell can take more punishment, but not what Theron is prepared to deliver. Charlize lands a right to the cheek and then a left followed by a right hook and then a left. Bell manages a right to Theron’s head that stops Theron’s punching for a few seconds. Bell is now in a crouch with her gloves covering her head.. Theron’s punches are mostly landing on Bell’s gloves. She comes out of her crouch with an uppercut that sends Theron a back a few steps. Theron wades back in only to be stopped by the bell. In Theron’s corner, Neve tells her she certainly took the round and they are even. She tells Theron to go for the KO, but not to go crazy. She doesn’t want to punch herself out as there are four more rounds to go
Round 7. Bell’s corner did an excellent job to get her ready for this round. As the bell rings she punches her gloves together and heads to do battle. Charlize lands the first punch, a right to the face. Bell then steps back and unleashed a right that lands on Theron’s right ear. Charlize is badly stunned. She staggers way with gloves down to her waist. A left sends the blonde to the ropes. She bounces off the ropes into another right that sends her back to the ropes. Bell moves in with a hook to the chin, a pair of crosses.and an overhand right to the head. Charlize’s gloves are dropping as Bell punches wildly away, She pounds the head, the midsection and then goes to Theron bra bringing a shout of pain from the golden goddess. The referee steps in to look at Theron’s eyes. They are clear but tears are starting stream down her cheeks. Bell thinks she is a couple punch’s from a win. but Charlize isn’t going to cooperate by going down and the bell saves the blonde.
Round 8. The two battered beauties trudge out. A lot of the speed is gone. The aggression is seemingly slow as the two meet in the center of the ring. They are toe to toe slugging away. Finesse is long gone. It’s now a matter of survival. They are both determined that they are going to end the fight this round. The fans are cheering their favorite. First, Bell looks like she is going down, then it’s Theron. Suddenly Charlize stops going for the chin and buries a left into Bell’s Solar Plexus. Bell’s breath floods out of her mouth as she doubles over. Charlize’s right drops to her hip and it comes twisting up with Theron weight behind it. She feels the punch land in her hamstrings. She watches as Bell sees to go down in slow motion. She’s on her face. Theron staggers to a corner. She wants Bell to stay down as Charlize is about shot, She can’t take much more. As she hears the count reach ten, she slides to a sitting position sobbing with relief. Neve and Tess help her to her feet and to her stool and finally to the dressing room. Bell manages to get to her feet before Charlize, She may have ended in better condition but she lost the fight
AFTER
Neve is at the press table. They are both too beat up to appear before the press. You know these two have a combined age of 103 but they put on a show better than most younger fighters. If you ask each of them if they want a rematch I bet they would both say no. Twenty fights between them. They have been brutal. Twenty fights is enough
Twenty fights may be enough, but twenty-five years is just beginning and here is to many, many more. Happy 25th Anniversary FCBA!!!
