BEFORE:
"I have proven that I can beat top bantams in the FCBA," says a confident Elodie. "And, tonight, I will prove that I can beat Bennet."
"She's no pushover," Chloe admits. "But, tonight, she'll be in with the best bantamweight in the world. That will NOT go well for her."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's..."
McCarthy" "AWFUL! That's AWFUL!"
Cassie: "HERE we go..."
O'Dell: "That's 'Margarita', by the lovely young lady coming to ringside right now, Italy's own Elodie Di Patrizi!"
Tess: "And, look at THAT, Mac, not only does Elodie have FCBA wins, she has SEVENTEEN of them!"
McCarthy: "SHUT UP, WALMART!"
O'Dell: "Drink up, boys, as Elodie climbs into the ring and is helped off with the robe to reveal a banana yellow number that has the crowd showing appreciation. And, that's..."
McCarthy: "HORRIBLE! AWFUL! An assault on my OLFACTION!"
O'Dell (sighing): "'Uh Oh', and that can only mean the singer of THAT tune, 'The Next Big Thing', Chloe Bennet, is on her way to the ring..."
Cassie: "Much like Lili, Chloe looking for a shot to reclaim the bantam belts, and she's going to need a result tonight to stay in that mix."
O'Dell: "Bennet into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. Crowd giving it up for the brunette beauty in that blue number she likes. And, we're about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Chloe. Mac?"
McCarthy: "DiPatrizi can't sing, but she can beat Bennet."
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "First split panel of the night. Let's see who's right. Ladies at range to start this thing, working the jab, moving the feet, getting their respective boxes on. Tactical stuff right now, as the ladies are doing some serious recon, Mac..."
McCarthy: "Elodie's got some reach. She needs to use it."
O'Dell: "Chloe offsetting that by playing the angles. Bennet having no problem getting to her spots and getting off, but Di Patrizi giving as good as she gets here, boxing with the former champion on even terms in the early going..."
Cassie: "Elodie's beaten some good fighters and you're seeing why."
O'Dell: "Final seconds ticking away in the first. It's been a good, two-way round as each fighter gets work done while trying to get the lay of the land. There's the bell and it's going to be very close, but Bennet gets the points..."
Tess: "And takes the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Back to work in the second, and the ladies back to ranged boxing. These terms appear to be working for everyone, so nobody looking to fix anything. SHARP exchange there with both heads snapping back!"
Tess: "Brunettes sitting down on punches a bit more this round."
O'Dell: "Sure are. Plenty of action, just like in the first, as Chloe and Elodie probe defenses, look for openings, try to set up punches. NICE right from Di Patrizi backs Bennet up a step, but Chloe right back to work..."
McCarthy: "If Di Patrizi just keeps at it, she'll knock this Dancing Hooker out!"
O'Dell: "That certainly seems to be the plan. We're down under fifteen seconds remaining in the second. Elodie with a nice combination there and Chloe fires right back at the bell. Very close again, but this time the Italian gets the points."
Cassie: "And evens things at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third begins the way the second ended, with excellent boxing from both brunettes. Everybody working the jab, feinting, moving the feet, looking to slip and counter, create openings in any way possible. And, once again, nobody taking control..."
Cassie: "Both fighters clearly comfortable right now."
O'Dell: "And, both getting work done, just like in the second. Lots of crowd-pleasing action, even if no one is pressing it or sitting down on everything. Instead, it's a more tactical fight at the moment, and there's not a lot in it..."
McCarthy: "I'd have put BOTH of these tomato cans on the canvas by now..."
O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch in a competitive third. Di Patrizi a nice combination there and another. Bennet countering with a solid right hand that backs Elodie up a step and there's the bell. Very close again. Elodie again."
Tess: "And, Di Patrizi pulls into a 29-28 lead."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Back to work at range in the fourth. It's been an excellent fight so far, with neither fighter able to gain an advantage until RIGHT NOW! Right hand, ELODIE and CHLOE IS HURT! Bennet all WOBBLY BUTT as Di Patrizi goes all in!"
McCarthy: "I TOLD YOU! KNOCK HER OUT! KNOCK HER OUT!"
O'Dell: "Elodie looking to do just that. She's backing up Bennet, banging away to head and body, trapping her on the ropes now. Chloe in the tight earmuff, rolling with, jabbing back in spots to keep the ref at bay..."
Tess: "Di Patrizi determined to finish..."
O'Dell: "Definitely is. Twenty seconds to go in this stanza. GOOD right hand, Elodie, and that wobbled Bennet's knees. Chloe tying up, running clock. Italian shoves her off, works some body, and there's the bell. Big round for Elodie who takes it wide..."
Cassie: "And extends her lead to 39-37."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Fifth begins with the Italian pushing forward again, taking the fight to Bennet. Chloe giving ground, keeping the guard high, countering in spots. Di Patrizi looking to finish, and cleaning up well while she does so..."
McCarthy: "Just keep after her and you'll get her..."
O'Dell: "RIGHT HAND, BENNET AND ELODIE IS HURT! A perfectly-placed right hand counter from Chloe and now it's the Italian in trouble. Bennet still looking a bit buzzed here, but she's over to the offensive in a big way..."
Cassie: "Sending a BLIZZARD of punches at Di Patrizi..."
O'Dell: "Elodie giving ground, covering up, taking a TON of leather right now, but she's shipping that shell and staying afloat, staying off the ropes as well. NICE right from Chloe and that shook Elodie again. Ref watching closely, but there's the bell. Bennet takes the round wide, but Di Patrizi is still standing."
Tess: "And still leading 48-47 at the half."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Now it's Bennet looking to finish. Former champion stepping forward behind that left, walking down the Italian with hard right hands. Elodie willing to trade space for time right now. She's still clearly buzzed and her opponent knows it..."
Tess: "Bennet committing on everything..."
O'Dell: "Definitely is, but, once again, Di Patrizi shipping a TON of heavy shell and staying afloat. GOOD right by Bennet and that wobbled Elodie and DOWN GOES DI PATRIZI! A NASTY right hook sends Elodie CRASHING to her right side..."
Cassie: "And, that might do it..."
O'Dell: "Bennet to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Di Patrizi rolling to her belly. Six. Seven. Eight. Pushing to all fours. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Elodie still on hands and knees as the count passes her by and it's OVER and your winner by KO6 is 'The Next Big Thing', Chloe Bennet!"
McCarthy: "Lucky punch! Just lucky!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Chloe Bennet, and, Chloe, you expected this to be a challenge..."
Chloe (nodding): "Yeah. Knew it would be. She's the real deal. She was just in with the best bantam in the world tonight, that's all."
Tess: "I think I know the answer to this, but, what's next for you?"
Chloe (smiling): "You DO know the answer. Whatever gets me closer to a shot to get the gold back. That's what's next."
