JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT VS RACHEL MCADAMS

JLH: 45 YO, 5’2 1.2 (1.59 m), 56-84-1, 42 KO since 1999, Femme Fight Club

Rachel: 45 YO, 5’4 (1.63 m),, 60-51-1, 38 KO since 2005, Foxfire Boxing

Before: It’s not labeled a Cougar Bout, but with both fighters now 40+ but still in fighting shape, this is clearly what it is. It’s also giving two long-time FCBA boxers the chance to square off for the first time in their careers.

“It is hard to believe I’ve been here since 1999, but I never fought Rachel,” comments Love Hewitt in the prefight.

“I was thinking the same thing, but I understand. By the time I got to the FCVA, Love was mainly fighting at bantam and I was at flyweight,” Rachel McAdams said.

“I am just happy to have this chance. I plan on making this a good fight to watch,” says Love.

“That is always one of my hopes when I get into the ring and I am sure we’ll give our fans plenty of action to enjoy,” Rachel says confidently and Love Hewitt nods in agreement.

Come Fight Night, Love and Rachel come to the ring amid cheers and applause of the fans. They remove their robes. Jen is in her a purple lace bra top and matching briefs. She is wearing purple gloves and boots. Love’s hair is loose but wetted down. Rachel is red and black one piece with red gloves and boots with black laces. Rachel’s hair loose, but wetted down. The referee gets through the formalities quickly. Fighters tap gloves and go to their corners. The bell ings. DING…!

R1: JLH opens with a sudden attack against Rachel to the flank ribs as they circle each other at center ring. Rachel twisting away from the swabbing punches, but now Love swings in front of her and clips the McAdams chin with quick right/left strikes. Rachel drops back a few steps, but then counterattacks as Love tries to pursue. Brisk exchange of head shots (to the jaw and sides of the head) causes both Rachel and Love to briefly fall back. Then they plunge in again with blows to the body and Love getting the better of this exchange as Rachel is forced to drop back while gasping for air from repeated belly hots. Rachel back at Love it for a final series of body shots as Love strikes back at Rachel’s abs to the bell. Close round, but the judges add up the numbers and Love Hewitt emerges a narrow victory.

R2: New round begins with Rachel striking at Love from a distance. Rachel banging JLH to the side of the head and then to the jaw. Love looking groggy as she backs away. Now Rachel closes in to work the Hewitt chin with uppercuts and clipping swipes. Love covering up with leaves Love’s torso exposed and Rachel sets to work pummeling the fabled JLH juggs. Love fighting back with hooks into Rachel’s abs. This draws Rachel’s fire into Love’s midsection and she forces Love to give ground. Rachel finishes with a sudden shift to right/left Love to the jaw and leave her rubbery legged at the bell. Round goes wide to Rachel McAdams.

R3: Rachel and Love come out of their corners with determination. Rachel looks to swinging at JLH;s head, but Love ducks under the first big right hand and catches Rachel to the chin with a big right of her own. Rachel staggered by this blow and Love is fast to pound in a fresh barrage of chin chuckers until RACHEL CRUMPLES TO THE CANVAS. Rachel on her back, knees bent upwards, hands at her battered face. JLH hastens to the neutral corner. Rachel trying to pull herself together as the referee stands over her counting. Rachel finally able to get to one knee and from there pushes herself up to break the count at “EIGHT!” Referee checks Rachel out and then waves Love back in. Rachel on the defensive, though she is not totally battened down. Rachel trading some shots, many jabs, with Love, but is able to block any finishing punches. Rachel makes it to the bell, but Love Hewitt has easily won the round.

R4: Jennifer Love Hewitt resuming her attack as the new round begins. Love going for Raxhel to the head, but Rachel now blocking or at least blunting most of these efforts. Hewitt now tries to shift her attention to Rachel’s body, but now Rachel responds with a body attack of her own. The two are toe to toe and pumping in the short right and left hands. Rachel going after the undersides of Love’s breasts for a sustained leather shelling. Love gritting her teeth and trying to roast Rachel to the rib cage. Crowd is Ioving the intensity of the battle of attrition and the cheers seem to inspire both fighters to punch faster and harder. Late in the round, Love seems to falter and Rachel is pushing her back at the bell. Still, the actual points are close, but it is Rachel who wins a close victory this stanza.

R5: The bell sounds and the fighters move forward out of their corners, Love going after Rachel to the ribs, battering both her rib cage and the flank ribs. Rachel hanging in there, striking at Love to the body, but bobbing and weaving, Love trying to punch Rachel back, but the Rachel fires in an overhand right that catches Love squarely in the right eye. Love recoils and her guard falters. Rachel then slams off one uppercut after the other into Love’s chin. Love’s head suddenly a bobble-head doll as it bounces up and down. Love is wobbling, trying to keep her gloves up, but then Rachel fires the ol’ one-two into her jaw . Love goes limp and topples ono her eft side and plays there groaning. Now Rachel hustles to the neutral corner and the referee counts. Love is trying to rise. Gets to her knees, but when she tries to stand, she falls over on to her side. She continues to try to rise, but the count is against her.

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”

THE WINNER RACHEL MCADAMS DEFEATS JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT KO5!

After: “That was quite a contest while it lasted,” Rachel McAdams sys to the press later. “I hope Love doesn’t hold a grudge over my punching her in the rack. I just couldn’t help myself. They were too good a target, but it was old fashioned boxing that brought her down in the end. I getting to enjoy cougar boxing more and more. I hope I get more opportunities for cougar bouts.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt says: “I am used to have my boobs punched. I was JMD Champion more than once. I have grown used to it. I don’t like it, but it isn’t what cost me the fight: it was not being able to finish Rachel off in the 3rd. You just can’t give a fighter of McAdams quality a second chance. I will just have to punch harder next time so my opponent can’t beat the count.”

Lively battle between two well-known FCBA veterans in their first-ever encounter. Rachel McAdams emerged the winner over Jennifer Love Hewitt. So hopefully she will continue to find more opportunities among the cougars. The same applies to JLH who, while she lost this fight, showed definite evidence she could better luck in the future.
