ANNUAL ST. PADDY’S DAY MASSACRE

JENNY McCARTHY V SHARON HORGAN

(results by Lookout, words by Sceej)

Venerable Farrell’s Bar - Brooklyn, New York - and an invitation only crowd awaits the renewal of an FCBA tradition dating back to 2006 - the Bare Knuckles St. Paddy’s Day Brawl! “Ring” consists of an area in the back cleared of tables and chairs, the surrounding standing crowd providing the parameters.

Sharon Horgan first out, seconded by Hall of Famer Ali Landry, rocking kelly green sports bra over green yoga tights and trainers, making entrance to Dropkick Murphys (on hand live and in person) “Good as Gold” and drawing applause from the crowd.

And to raucous applause (and scattered boos) here comes Jenny … sashaying out to Mark Morrison’s “Return of the Mack” … not exactly an Irish tune but hell, even on St. Pat’s, it’s ALL about Jenny!

The resulting brawl turns out to be brutal, even by bar fight standards! Referee Bridie McMahon warning combatants “I want fair play here - no bitin’ or anything of that nature!”. Jenny Mac schools Horgan on such diverse subjects as the head butt in close and the foot stomp, but Sharon hangs tough and learns to give as good as she gets. Some of the neophytes who’ve not witnessed prior St Paddy’s bar brawls and plunked their hard earned dollars on Mac to win are horrified to see her eschewing water and swigging from a bottle of Jamesons between rounds. These fist on flesh and bone hits are painful and Jamesons definitely dulls the pain but not doing McCarthy coordination any good. Between the 4th and 5th rounds, after much jawing, Nolin and Landry decide to step out into the alley to renew their own long time rivalry - the fighters are left without seconds! In the 6th, Sharon Horgan manages to lock up McCarthy’s left arm in a clinch - her own right free to just pump and pump and pump right hand’s to tender Playmate midriff! Jenny sagging like a second hand couch and when she bends at waist, Horgan viciously drops an elbow to the kidney - draws a howl of agony and McCarthy splatters to the floor! Turning to referee, Sharon demands “Count!” and Bridie McMahon, not one to be ordered in her own place of business, responds tartly “I’ll start countin’ when I am good and ready!”. Its a slow count but makes no matter, Jenny Mac is groaning and writhing and is NOT getting up! Winner by knockout in the sixth - Sharon Horgan!

And St. Paddy’s Day tradition continues as an hour later … McCarthy and Horgan are on stage with the band, belting out “Kiss me … I’m sh*t faced!” with the crowd … that is until report comes from the alley that “Nolin and Landry are STILL at it … beatin’ the shite out of each other!” .. and pints in hand the bar empties into the street and the adjacent alley.
