MILLIE BOBBY BROWN VS BREC BASSINGER
Results: Lookout Writing: Archer
Millie: 20 YO, 5’4 (1.63 m), 26-5-0, 26 KO since 2022 Lookout! Boxing
Brec: 24 YO, 5’2 (1.57 m), 21-12-0, 20 KO since 2019 Pretty Little Punchers Inc.
Before: Millie Brown is frank when explaining this bout to the press ahead of the actual fight: “I want the Flyweight Title back. To get it means I have to prove I can beat the other contenders in the division. In this case, it means beating Hayden. I am willing to wager she is thinking the same thing about me.”
Brec smiles agreeably: “That’s a wager you’d win all right. I liked being Flyweight Champion and I want that belt back around my waist/. Millie’s strategy is sound, but she’s not the only one who can use it. Only, in my case, I’m the one who successfully uses it. Plus, this will be my ‘first time in against Millie. She’s beaten a lot of good fighters, but she’ not invincible. Those 5 losses tell me that. I would like nothing better than to add my name to the smallk distinguished list of those of have found ways to beat Millie Bobby Brown.”
Milly wrinkled her nose: “I would not count on that happening’ in this fight.”
“Oh, but I do,” Brec purred, “and you will learn it unwise to count your title shots before you;’ve won them.”
“That goes double for you,” Millie snapped and then looked around: “When does this fight get started?”
“See you in the ring,” Brec said with amusement
‘I’ll be there, I assure you,” Millie growled tartly as she departed the stage.
In the ring, Millie Bobby Brown and Brec Bassinger remove their robes. Millie is in a electric blue one with white boots and gloves. Her hair is loose but wetted down. Brec is in a black one piece with yellow gloves and boots (black laces). Hair is pulled back in a messy ponytail. The referee proceeds with the instructions. This goes smoothly. Then thee is the tap of the gloves. Brec and Millie go to their corners. The bell rings.
R1: Aggressive action early from both fighters as Brec goes for Millie’s chin with a flurry of straight rights and lefts. Millie responds with solid rights and lefts to Brec’s jaw. Then Brec goes for Millie’s midsection with digging hooks, but Millie answers with body hooks of her own. Two circling each other, punching shifting back and forth from head to body and then to the head. Steady action, but then Millie steps up her pace late. She scores with jolting uppercuts to Brec’s chin that knocks the blonde on her heels. Brec covers up as Millie finishes up with a swabbing series of gut punches. Round is still close, but Millie has won it.
R2: Brec and Millie again move rapidly out of their corners and get to punching. However Brec is moving more quickly and gets the edge on Millie with crackling shots to the head. Millie trying to get away to regroup with Brec in pursuit. Millie suddenly turns back and startles Brec with a fast series of strikes to Brec’s face. Brec quickly back with face shots of her own and hers are drawing blood as a trickle of crimson comes out of one of Millie’s nostrils. Millie covering up as Brec now works over Millie’s ribcage and belly to the bell. Another close round, but it is Brec Bassinger who wins it on the judges’ cards.
R3: Millie not happy sitting on her stool during the break. She looks impatient to get back out there as soon as the bell rings. However, she has barely reached the center of the ring before Brec comes barreling forward. Brec seems to be headed for a left to the belly and it draws Millie’s gloves down, but KA-BOOM! Brec lands a big right hand between Millie’s eyes. The blow sends Millie reeling drunkenly. Brec not waiting to see if Millie’s going down, she rushes in with a barrage of body punches that drives Millie back into the ropes. Millie is rapped on the ropes, but she’s also taken a seat on the strands and braced herself up. She takes a heavy thrashing as Brec works her like a punching bag, but she is still standing at the bell. Result is an imprsssive shutout for Brec Bassinger.
R4: The Lookout corner has their hands full getting Millie out for the new round, but she is up and moving reasonably well. Brec again moving rapidly towards Millie, but this time Millie able to strike first clipping Brec hard off the chin. Brec thrown back in disorder as Millie follows up with steady punching to the jaw and side of Brec’s head. Brec trying to circle away from this, but Millie hanging in close. Brec finally gets her jab going and uses it to discourage Millie with a bruising attack to the face. Millie quickly comes back with hooks to the belly that sends Brec stutter-stepping backwards all doubled up. Brec then gets clouted to the sides of the head. Brec able to stay clear of ropes but Millie Bobby Brown looks strong as she wins this round wide.
R5: Brec looking a little more cautious as the new round commences. She’s got her dukes high and jabbing to keep Millie back. Mille seems to looking for openings as she circles around Brec. Then Brec suddenly moves forward and lands head-whipping right/left combo to Millie’s jaws and follows with a double uppercut to the chin. Millie now falling back, trying to get her gloves up in order to protect her head and face. Brec gets that chin a couple of more times before she’s blocked out. Millie then tries to fight back with head shots of her own, but Brec answers with heavy body punching that puts Millie on her heels and losing ground. Millie has to settle for avoiding another trip to the ropes as the round ends in a wide win for Brec B.
R6: Both fighters are out quickly for the new round and the leather starts flying as soon as they can get to punching range. Brec striking first with shots to Millie’s head, but Millie going after Brec to the chin with fast, punishing uppercuts. These send Brec stumbling back looking a bit glassy-eyed. Millie swarms in on her and bashes her to the head with successive rights and lefts that make Brec’s swivel from one side to the next. Brec struggling to get her gloves up to cover her battered head. Millie no pounds away at Brec to the belly and Brec is doubled up as she is driven steadily back. Millie has Brec boxed in as Brec’s back hits the ropes. Millie works Brec to the body with payback ferocity and she’s got Brec’s knees buckling. Then Millie spots an opening and RAMS home ne last uppercut to Brec’s chin. Brec’s head snaps back and her knees fold. All MIllie has to do is step to one side as Brec crashes face-first into the canvas.
Millie goes to the neutral corner. The referee is counting. Brec amazes many in the crowd by actually trying to push herself up, but then her body shudders and she collapses back into a heap.
“EIGHT!...NINE!....TEN!...YER OUT!”
THE WINNER: MILLIE BOBBY BROWN DEFEATS BREC BASSINGER KO6.
After: “I will acknowledge this was a close fight,” Millie Brown tells the press after the fight. “She gave me a real scare in the 3rd, but I hung in and eventually I was able to bring her down. I do think it proves I am a very good candidate for a title shot soon.”
Brec Bassinger isn’t up to making a statement until the next day when she say: “She is a tough one. I gave her a real beatdown in that 3rd, but I couldn’t seem to keep up the pressure. She’s one of those fighters who’ll hang in there until she can find just the right opening to finish you off. I still don’t think she’s invincible, but she is very hard to beat. I mean to try harder some day. I still think I can do it.” Exciting battle of young flyweight contenders. Millie Bobby Brown again came through to win a hard-fought battle. She definitely should be kept in mind for a title fight one of these cards. Of course, the loss was a disappointment for Brec Bassinger, a win would have been a big boost for her title shot chance. Now she’s got to regroup, but she clearly has a lot of heart and talent. We’re sure she’ll be back in the title hunt soon |
