Kylie Jenner versus Alexis Ren (Unified Lightweight Championship)

BEFORE:

Not often a champion walks into a title defense as an underdog, but, Jenner is arguably exactly that in this blonde/brunette tilt. Challenger Ren is not only the number one contender, she's won a scintillating sixteen of her last eighteen with the only two losses being to...Kylie's sister. Of course, the champ's been no slouch herself of late, having won six straight with wins over both sister Kendall and Taylor Swift. Memories of an up and down 2023, however, have some folks leaning toward the blonde. And Alexis is leaning INTO that kind of thinking. "Yeah, I'm better than her," Ren says with a gorgeous smile. "No disrespect, though. At this weight, I'm better than ANYONE."

"She's got a lot of confidence," says a hard-eyed Kylie. "And, I'm about to BEAT that out of her."

ROUND ONE:

The Ren fight plan is, as expected, a very good one. She's not going to stand in front of the hard-hitting brunette. Instead, the blonde uses her length and athleticism to keep the champion at bay, sticking the left jab in her face over and over again as Kylie tries to come forward and bring her power to bear. Her efforts are mostly fruitless. On occasion, the champ manages to close and get off some hard shots, but, only on occasion. Most of the round sees the challenger at range, working the left, dropping hard rights behind it, and controlling the proceedings. At the bell, there's no doubt about the points. It's Alexis wide to grab the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Kylie adjusts. She's angling more, keeping the hands high, moving the head, working in a quarter crouch. It all adds up to her being able to block or slip the jab and step to, where she can get off in combination. At times. At other times, Alexis is still controlling things with that left. Result is a good, two-way round in which both fighters get some but not enough of what they want. And, neither wastes any opportunities. When Ren is at range, she's firing flurries at Kylie. When Jenner gets to her spots, she's off in combination with hard shot. Back and forth we go, and, when the bell rings, there's absolutely nothing in it. Even round, which leaves Ren up a point, 20-19.

ROUND THREE:

Same again. Ren with the jab at range, scoring well when she can stay there, Jenner working forward in that quarter crouch, getting off in combina...BOOM! Right hand, KYLIE and ALEXIS IS HURT! Blonde STEPPIN' IN FENCE POST HOLES as the champion goes all in to finish this thing. Brunette charging forward behind flurries of heavy leather, bundling the challenger to the ropes and HAVING AT HER. She's working mainly upstairs looking for the finish, but she's hooking some rib and tummy, too, albeit just enough to keep the blonde honest. Ref looking in closely, but Alexis is doing enough to keep him at bay,. At the bell, it's Jenner wide, but Ren is still standing and the cards are even at 29.

ROUND FOUR:

Jenner coming forward. Ren giving ground. Alexis still plenty unsteady, and Kylie knows it. She's taking the fight to her rival, getting a little sloppy in spots as she sometimes does, but in service of getting as much heavy leather on the blonde as possible. And, it works very, very well. For two and a half minutes, it's ALL Kylie. Ren's not even able to get much going in counter, as the champion piles up points and punishment. Final thirty sees Alexis begin to counter punch more effectively, but it doesn't change the balance of power or have any effect on the scoring. At the bell, it's the brunette and it's wide and Kylie's gone ahead 39-38.

ROUND FIVE:

Jenner in control, walking forward, backing the challenger down. Ren again reduced to just the counter. She's moving somewhat better, but still not able to stabilize her front...BOOM! Right hand counter, Alexis and DOWN GOES THE CHAMPION! Ren WALKS Kylie into a BLISTERING right hand, and the brunette is down on her back in the middle of the ring! Ren quickly to a neutral corner to watch and wait. Jenner badly hurt but manages to get to her feet at nine. Ref thinks about it during the mandatory but waves on the challenger. Ren ALL IN, ripping punches at Kylie, trapping her on the cables and letting her have it to head and body. Ref on a hair trigger, but, somehow, Jenner manages to hang on to the bell. When it rings, though, Ren's not only taken the round 10-8 and the lead, 48-47, she's turned the fight.

ROUND SIX:

Ren pushing hard to finish now. Jenner's still buzzed, and the blonde is taking full advantage, punishing her rival to head and body and hooking some rack when she gets a chance. Kylie in retreat, countering here and there, but not very effectively. Alexis knows well the champ is best coming forward, and that's why she's keeping her going backward. About two minutes in, though, the brunette manages to stablize her front and get back on offense at times. Ren's still getting the better of it, still calling the tune, but Kylie's scoring in spots, getting back into the fight. At the bell, it's Alexis and it's wide, and Ren's extended her lead to 58-56, but Jenner's ridden out the storm.

ROUND SEVEN:

Back to fairly even terms. Ren knows the champion's got her legs back under her, so she's not going to continue to press forward. Instead, she's looking to create distance with that jab, work the combinations, box. Jenner working forward with the hands high, looking to slip or pick off the jab, step to, get off lusty...BOOM! Right hook, KYLIE and DOWN GOES REN! A perfectly placed hook send the blonde spilling to the canvas! Kylie strides to a neutral corner, arms over her head in triumph. Ref counting down on a stricken Alexis. Ren rolls to her belly at seven, pushes to hands and knees at eight, but can get no further! The blonde is still on all fours as the count passes her by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO7 and STILL Unified Lightweight Champion is Kylie Jenner!

AFTER:

Jenner puffy with a cut over the left eye, but all about that confidence. "She's the number one contender," says a hard-eyed Kylie, "the best this division has to offer me. Well, if that's the case, I'm going to hold these belts exactly as long as I want to hold them. Because, she's not good enough to take them, and neither are the rest of these girls. This is MY division now. Get used to it."
