Sophie Mudd versus Harumi Nemoto (JMD Title)
(Results: Lookout. Words: Wiz)

BEFORE:

Battle of brunettes sees Harumi, fresh off a pay-per-view win over Jessica Nigri, looking to claim the JMD championship from the younger Sophie. And, while Nemoto is a clear underdog, let's just say she's not lacking confidence. "JMD is about power and effort and desire, and, when it comes to those," the Japanese beauty says, "There's no one in the FCBA better than me."

"She's coming in here thinking she has a puncher's chance," says Jessica. "But, she doesn't. She has NO chance."

ROUND ONE:

Ladies get after it early, in inimitable JMD fashion, setting up in the middle of the ring and letting one another have it. Nothing sloppy, mind, but both fighters are sitting down on punches early, banging away to head, body, and rack. There's movement and some defense is being played, but this is all about power and bringing it to bear, with both brunettes confident in their respective abilities to grind the other down and take her out of there. It's nip and tuck the entire way, with neither fighter gaining any kind of an advantage. When the bell rings, it's very, very close, but it's the Japanese challenger who's taken the points and the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Sophie gets going. It starts with a sharp combination just seconds into the round, one that backs up Harumi, and Mudd builds from there. The American pours fire at the older woman, keeping her on the back foot and taking. Nemoto having trouble setting her feet and getting off. Instead, she spends her time covering up, trying to find time and space to fire back. She's able to score some in counter, but it's not nearly enough to make up for the work Mudd is doing fighting lead. Final thirty seconds sees Nemoto solidify her front and begin giving as good as she gets again, but it's far to late to matter in this stanza. At the bell, it's Mudd wide and we're even at 19.

ROUND THREE:

A rerun of the second, with Harumi now back to giving as good as she gets. There's a LOT of investment in body going on here, with hooks and uppercuts digging to belly, ribs, and, especially, rack. Brunettes wasting ZERO opportunities to dig to jug, but, despite their respective attempts, all that work does nothing to discourage either from firing right back. It's grinding stuff, with leather thumping to flesh from the opening bell, but neither Harumi nor Sophie will take a step back. Instead, they both keep coming at one another right to the bell. When it rings, it's close, but it's Harumi who grabs the points, sending the challenger back into the lead 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

More of the same. Ladies getting it going in the middle of the ring, banging away at one another, trying to impose will. Neither, however, willing to be imposed upon...BOOM! Right hand, SOPHIE and Harumi is HURT! Nemoto wobbling backward, nearly going down and Mudd LETS THE HANDS GO! Sophie ROCKING the older woman with a blizzard of shot upstairs, driving her into the ropes and then it's HUP-HUP TO JUG! Nemoto getting PUNISHED to the rack, trying to clinch, keep the elbows tight, hanging on desperately...BOOM! Uppercut to the chin and DOWN GOES HARUMI! Nemoto crashes past Mudd's shoulder to the canvas! Sophie to a neutral corner to watch and wait, but it's academic. Nemoto both down and OUT and it's OVER! And your winner by KO4 and STILL JMD Champion is Sophie Mudd!

AFTER:

Mudd matter-of-fact in the post. "She can hit," Sophie admits. "Harder than I thought, really. I can see why she's had success at JMD...or, FEEL why. But, like I said, as hard as she hits, she had no chance tonight. Because, I'm that GOOD."
