CANADIAN INVASION AT THE ASYLUM: THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL
Posted by HBO's Boxing At The Asylum on 31 March 2024 at 4:22 pm
BEFORE:
"It's nice to get a shot to come to Philly," says Elyse with a smile, "But, I'm NOT going to be a proper guest, because I'm going to spoil Taylor's party."
"She's looking like a top talent," Taylor admits. "But, I've been in there with top talents and come out on top."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Passenger', performed by the lovely young lady coming to the ring right now, Elyse Levesque!"
McCarthy: "NONE of these women can sing! None of them!"
Cassie: "Levesque can fight, though. She's a top ten welter..."
O'Dell: "Canadian brunette is into the ring and helped off with the robe by the Queens of Absolution corner crew to reveal a gold number that has the crowd popping. And, that's 'Natural' by Imagine Dragons you hear hammering through the arena, and here comes 'The Face', Taylor Hill!"
McCarthy: "Talentless TOOTHPICK!"
Tess: "For those just joining us, Mac runs down Hill every chance she gets because, when she briefly ran Sceej, she released Taylor and Front Street signed her for FREE and she became lightweight champion..."
McCarthy: "She has NO talent and SHUT UP, WALMART!"
O'Dell: "Drink up, boys, as Taylor climbs into the ring and is helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. Hill looking PLENTY good in that azure two-piece she likes..."
McCarthy: "Skinny and overrated!"
O'Dell: "Ladies about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Taylor. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Levesque!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "There's the bell. Ladies going to set up at range and get their respective boxes on, and no surprise there. Both rangy and effective on these terms. Levesque the more aggressive of the two early, landing some harder shot here..."
McCarthy: "That TOOTHPICK has no hope of trading with a girl who can actually HIT..."
O'Dell: "Canadian landing a hard right hand, but Hill responds with a nice combination. Two-way stuff early, with neither fighter doing a lot of recon. Instead, both are working offensively to get to spots and get off in combination..."
Cassie: "Two Top Twenty fighters and they're both looking like it."
O'Dell: "Down under twenty seconds in the first. SHARP exchange there and another. Nobody willing to take a step back. GOOD right by Elyse and Taylor lands a nice right hand of her own at the bell. Close. Levesque gets the points."
Tess: "And grabs the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Ladies back to work and it appears both like the terms. No adjustments here in the second. We're back to gunnery range and getting to work boxing with. Redhead and brunette both effective, getting punches on target..."
Tess: "Despite some solid defense."
O'Dell: "No doubt about that. Both ladies moving head, hands, and feet, blocking and slipping, but plenty of hard, accurate leather is flying and a lot of it is getting through. NICE exchange there with both fighters landing a good shot..."
Cassie: "Nobody hurt, but plenty of power shots landing right now."
O'Dell: "We;re coming down the stretch in another competitive round. Ladies have been working hard the entire way, and they're continuing to do that now. ANOTHER sharp exchange as heads snap back and there's the bell. Close again. Taylor."
McCarthy: "And, we're even at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: Third underway and THERE'S A HUGE RIGHT HAND FROM ELYSE! A BOOMING shot from Levesque and Taylor is RUMBLIN', STUMBLIN', FUMBLIN' around the ring! Redhead immediately all in, letting the hands go..."
McCarthy: "KNOCK HER OUT! KNOCK HER OUT!"
O'Dell: "Elyse backing Hill up with a blizzard of solid shot. Taylor looking ready to go right now. The redhead has the brunette against the ropes. Body is on sale, but the Canadian not buying. She's concentrating upstairs..."
Cassie: "Wants to get her out of there right now."
O'Dell: "Sure does. Referee's looking in closely. Hill clinching, holding on. Ref breaks them, Levesque right back to work. Taylor hanging on desperately as the clock ticks down...and there's the bell. Shutout round for Levesque."
Tess: "And Elyse leads it 29-28"
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Levesque looking to finish as we start the fourth. She's walking Hill down behind the left hand, dropping hard rights on her. Taylor giving ground, countering in spots, on the back foot and being kept there by some very effective aggression from the redhead..."
McCarthy: "She's GOT the toothpick!"
O'Dell: "Hill seems to be moving better now. Elyse is still fighting lead, but Taylor's no longer in full retreat. Brunette countering well, working her way back into this thing, but still getting the worst of it, as the Canadian scores with both hands..."
Tess: "Just riding that out is a victory for Hill. That was a NASTY punch..."
O'Dell: "Final half minute of the fourth is upon us. Taylor giving ground. Elyse scoring with a solid right hand. Hill jabbing back. Final seconds ticking away. Nice right hand from Levesque and there's the bell. Redhead takes it wide."
Cassie: "And stretches her lead to 39-37"
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Levesque no longer coming forward. She's back to working at range here, clearly aware that the brunette has shaken the worst of the damage. Result is that we're back where we were in the first couple of rounds..."
Cassie: "On pretty even terms."
O'Dell: "Indeed, we are. Both brunette and redhead again having success. They're working the left jab, using it to set up right hands, building combinations nicely. Again, good defense being played, but there's plenty of leather getting through."
McCarthy: "Levesque just needs to be patient. She'll get the toothpick out of here."
O'Dell: "Not at lot in it as we come down the stretch in the fifth. Ladies remaining busy. Both know the points are there for the taking and both want them. NICE flurry by Hill and there's another and there's the bell. Close. Taylor."
Tess: "And Hill cuts the deficit to 48-47 at the half.:
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Ladies boxing at range to start the sixth. Again, both redhead and brunette having success on these terms, and that's why there hasn't been an attempt to change them. GOOD right hand from Elyse backs Taylor up a step and HILL ROCKS LEVESQUE WITH A COUNTER!"
Tess: "What a SHOT!"
O'Dell: "A perfectly-placed right hand counter from Taylor and Elyse is in trouble! Hill now going all in trying to end this thing. Levesque giving ground, hands high, backed to the ropes. Leaning into them in a tight earmuff..."
McCarthy: "Body on sale and that dumb toothpick is BUYING..."
O'Dell: "In BULK at the moment. Hill working to bring the guard down, going upstairs, but then right back down, piling up points and punishment as we head for the bell. Ten seconds to go. GOOD right hand by Taylor, and there's the bell. Hill. Wide."
Cassie: "And we're even at 57."
ROUND SEVEN:
O'Dell: "Seventh underway and Hill pressing the issue now. She's got Levesque in retreat and she's keeping her there, all while looking to finish this thing, Elyse with the gloves high, giving ground, countering in spots..."
Cassie: "Riding this out pretty well..."
O'Dell: "Is, indeed. Redhead playing good defense, staying off the ropes and GOING DOWN! A three-punch combination from the brunette and the redhead crashes to her back in the middle of the ring. What a lightning strike that was!"
Tess: "And that may do it..."
O'Dell: "Hill to a neutral corner. Referee counting down on Elyse. Three. Four. Five. Levesque rolling to her belly. Six. Seven. Pushing to hands and knees. Eight, Trying to get to feet and nine and STUMBLING BACK TO THE CANVAS! It's OVER! The count passes Levesque by and it's OVER and your winner by KO7 is 'The Face', Taylor Hill!"
McCarthy: "LUCKY PUNCH! She got LUCKY!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Taylor Hill, and, Taylor, really tough in there..."
Taylor (nodding): "Knew it would be. She's top ten for a reason. She's talented, smart, and she can hit. But, I also knew I'd come out on top. And, I did."
Tess: "So, what's next for you? More welter? Lightweight?"
Taylor: "What I want to do, Tess, is win more gold. At light, I'd be the first Front Streeter ever to win two titles. At welter, I'd be the first to do that AND the first ever to win welter gold. Either way, I'm good. Just book me whatever fights I need to get there." |
