Before: “As I am sure you all know, I am one of the busiest flyweights around, but, somehow I have missed a chance to fight Dani Russell. I just couldn’t let that go on. So here we are,” an impish Cree Cicchino says in the prefight. “I am all set to add her name to that long list of once promising flyweights whose careers I have flattened. Though since you’re 3 fights under .500 I wasn’t the one who started the flattening for you.”

“Very funny,” DRR says sarcastically. “but I think I should warn you that it is possible burn yourself out early. Too many fights in too short a time.”

“Obviously, that is not been your problem,” Cree retorts, “so what’s your excuse for the losing record?”

“I don’t make excuses. I just try to do better and beating you will certainly help that!” snapped Danielle.

“That’s not going to happen!” Cree said flatly.

“Don’t be surprised when it does!” Dani fired back.

The two petite young women glared at each other as the camera snapped. Then they stalked off to stage, but the anger between them was still clearly still there was they faced off of Fight Night.

In the ring, Cree was in a faux lace lingerie style black one piece with black gloves and boots. Her bobbed hair loose, but wetted down. Danielle in greenish yellow one piece with green gloves and boots (yellow laces). Hair pulled back battle.

The two exchange hostile looks during ring instructions. The slam their gloves together with unnecessary force. Exchange a final glare and then march to their corners. The bell rings…

R1: Cree and DRR charge out of their corners. Cree looks to be trying overwhelm Dani with a torrent of punching to head and body. Dani finds her efforts to counter are being thwarted as she is knocked off balance by the sheer volume of punching. Dani finally just trying to get out of the way, but Cree seeking to stay with her and keep the pressure going. Dani able to land a few good shots to Cree’s jaw, but these only momentarily bother her. She quickly resumes her attack. Cree looks to be trying to crowd Dani into ropes, but Dani does manage to avoid this to the bell. However Cree has won the round wide.

R2: Danielle seems to come out of her corner this round with determination to answer Cree Cicchino’s onslaught in the first round. DRR moves fast and leaps forward to smash a solid right to a startled Cree’s jaw. Cree goes spinning away, though she does manage to stay on her feet and get her guard up as Dani closes back in on her. Cree tries to get something going with hooks into Dani’s body, but DRR scoring with multiple blows to Cree’s head. Cree falls back guard up high and DRR now digging her leather into Cree’s body. Deep digging hooks doubles Cree up and this allows for Danielle to bring uppercuts against Cree’s overhanging face. Cree tries to block these with her mitts, but Dani able to blast several punches through and put a wobble in Cree’s legs. Cree hunched up and battered is able to make it to the bell. DRR comes back strong to win this round wide.

R3: Both Cree and Dani are fast out of their corners and plunge into each other with zeal. Leather flying rapidly, heads swiveled, chins snapped back and bodies pounded as gurgling groans begin to be heard. Crowd loves the all-out effort from the pair and eagerly watch to see if one of them can get control. Then, gradually, it can be seen that blows to the jaw are driving Danielle Russell back, though she resisting every backward. It is enough for Cree to pull out a close win on the round once the bell rings and the points are totaled.

R4: Again, both fighters are out of their corners at speed and the punching starts as soon as they get into a range at mid-ring. They are again working each other to the head and body in alternating bursts of punching power. DRR bobbing up and down seems to getting in the more effective punching especially against Cree’s chin. Cree responding with blows to the side of Dani’s head, but it is Cree who is pulling back in the final minute. She forced to protect her head and Dani goes after her ribs and abs as the round ends. Again, it is a close round, but this time it is Danielle Rose Russell who wins it.

R5: Danielle attacking again as rapidly as she can get her mitts into Cree, but Cree seems to doing a better job of dodging these blows. She doesn’t counter very much as she seems to be studying DRR’s approach. Then, suddenly, Cree erupts, as she ducks down, her right hand near her ankles and then goes shooting upward. KA-BOOM! She connects with Dani’s chin AND DANI CRASHES ONTO HER BACK! Dani is on the canvas, blank look on her face as though trying to understand what has just happened. Cree trots to the neutral corner and looks back. DRR is trying to rise as the referee count. With a great effort, Dani makes it to her feet at “NINE!” The referee looks doubtful, but Dani loudly insists “I’m not done! Start it up again!”

Referee waves Cree back in and very quickly it is clear that a mistake was made. Dani tries to fight back, but Cree is in her blitz attack mode. Dani is hounded to the ropes and then tries to escape by sliding along them. Cree now smashing Dani’s head from side to side, trying to get her to go down, but she won’t go down! Ringsiders call out to the referee to stop the massacre! AND (FINALLY!) THE REF JUMPS IN! He cradles DRR to safety as an arm weary Cree Cicchino holds up both arm in victory.

THE WINNER: CREE CICCHINO DEFEATS DANIELLE ROSE RUSSELL TKO5!

After: “That was not easy,” Cree Cicchino admits in the post-fight, “she’s tough and she’s got punch, but not as much as I do. I call it a nice win over someone I should have been able to beat and did, On to my next fight.”

Danielle Rose Russell not commenting until the next day says: “I still don’t think she was all that better than me. She is smart enough to see an opening and lower the boom like she did to me in the 5th. Sure I am disappointed. Very disappointed, but I got to put it behind me and move on to my next fight.”

Given the two fighters records, this was hardly a surprise result, but Danielle Rose Russell did keep up with Cree Cicchino, almost finishing but then fell victim to a surprise chin shot. Highlight reel worthy almost-finishing punch should have ended the fight, but referee allowed it go back on before his mistake was apparent. Foxfire sources report no serious damage done to Danielle which is good news for her fans. Meanwhile, Cree Cicchino’s fans can debate who she fights next.
