Harumi Nemoto vs Sophia Peschisolido
R1: Sophia Peschilsolido had more than fifteen years on Harumi Nemoto and was on an undefeated win streak, but Harumi was worth her salt. Her win rate wasn’t golden, but that was because she repeatedly butted against champions or future champions far younger than her - if she wasn’t tier zero, then she was at least tier one, and there was hope that she’d become the Asian Katic, for she had the worth and strength to do so, as Sophia learns in this round. There's movement and some defense is being played, with both brunettes confident in their respective abilities to grind the other down and take her out of there. When the bell rings, it's very, very close, but it's the British youngster who's taken the lead.
R2: More of the same, but Sophia is increasingly finding it hard to keep Harumi at bay. There was a reason why Naomi Scott acknowledged Harumi’s power. There was a reason why she was given the chance against Thomalla in the BBU. There was a reason why rumors held that Sophie Mudd privately confided that she was actually quite worried that Harumi would be the one to take her down. The round goes to the Brit, but only time will tell whether she can keep this up as Harumi figures more and more of her out.
R3: Harumi is now giving as good as she gets. There's a LOT of investment in the body going on here, with hooks and uppercuts digging to the belly and ribs. It's a grind with leather thumping to flesh from the opening bell, but neither Harumi nor Sophia will take a step back. Instead, they both keep coming at one another, the tension heavy. Who will give first?
Sophia gives first. Harumi’s I-cups have far more presence in a slug than her own Cs, and are more “airbag-like”, and that allows the Japanese woman to push the Brit back. When the bell rings, it's Harumi who grabs the points.
R4: Sophia’s book has been completely read, it seems, for Harumi is in complete control. Sophia is fighting back, but cannot keep her opponent from continuing to hound her with punches to the face and gut. Round four sees Harumi take a 10-8 lead and Peschisolido’s head ring.
R5: Sophia looking to mount a comeback, but Harumi’s too methodical, too precise, too powerful for her to find a gap, and all her offense amounts to is more punishment that leaves her half-folded against the ropes. By the second minute, she’s a mess of blood and spit and sweat, and Nemoto, perhaps tiring of this farce, puts her down almost lazily with a hook to the head that collapses her to the canvas.
Sophia fights the ringing and gets up unsteadily, reaching all fours by six and on her feet at nine, but bravery was bravery, not victory. Harumi switches from hitting the head to hitting the chest. Just as her arms go to swaddle her breasts, a sweeping hook almost leaves the brunette flat on her ass again. Seeing this, the referee dives in to protect the girl from a dominant Nemoto.
Winner: Harumi Nemoto via TKO5!
Post-fight: Harumi is asked about her victory tonight and her future plans. “I’ll finish my spat with Pinder, then maybe I’ll make a bid for a belt. Yes, it’s true that I’ve lost all my championship bids, but that doesn’t mean I’ll lose next time. I’ll fight as long as I can, and I have full confidence that I will claim a belt.”
