Before: “I’ve been following Poki and the rest of the girls through their training since the beginning basically. I started to train with them a little after they all started, but I wasn’t as interested in competing like they were, mostly just doing it for fitness,” Fuslie recalls while speaking to the press. “Slowly, I began sparring more, and thinking I might actually like competing. Then I watched their matches on the beach the other weekend, and it sold me, and now here I am!” Audra jumps in after she finishes, “Yeah, I had a similar story to Leslie, and I think we’ve become pretty good friends while training together. I don’t know how this fight will go. Obviously I hope I win, but I think we are a pretty even match, it’s going to be a coin flip I think.” Both women square up for some promotional photos, before they share a hug and pose together for some fun ones after. It’s easy to see these two are friendly with one another.

Fight night comes around and Fuslie is the first to emerge. She walks out to an upbeat pop tune in a red robe with white trim, matching red gloves, her long brown hair tied in up a ponytail. She slips into the ring, removing her robe and revealing her fight attire; a red sports bra and trunks to complete the outfit. Audra approaches the ring next, walking out to one of her band’s grungy pop-punk songs in a black robe and black gloves, her shoulder length dark hair down and flowing free. She gets into the ring and disrobes, showing a black sports bra and matching trunks. Both ladies listen to the ref and touch gloves before heading back to their corners, ready for the fight to start.

Round 1: Bell rings for round one and both girls meet in the center of the ring, gloves up ready to rumble. First minute consists of many small trades, neither girl gaining an edge as jabs and straights land on gloves and arms, with the occasional one slipping through to hit face or stomach. Fuslie begins to pick up the pace, pushing a bit harder and pressuring Audra to cover up more, taking a few steps back as Fuslie commands the center of the ring. Audra gets backed into the ropes while Fuslie is still going at full throttle, and she lands a right hook on the younger girl’s jaw before Audra jumps in for a clinch to get some space. Girls get separated, but Fuslie continues pressuring, backing Audra up once more to get a few uppercuts into her belly before going upstairs for a right hook. Audra weaves out of the blow, countering with a beautiful double uppercut to Fuslie’s stomach that doubles her over. She backs off as the bell rings, and both ladies return to their corners. Fuslie is narrowly granted that round as she sits in her corner, skin glistening with sweat as she breathes heavily.

Round 2: Girls come out of their corners for round two, but it’s already clear that Fuslie gassed herself out a bit last round, and she looks like she intends to take this round off for recovery. Audra senses this, and having not expended herself a ton last round, intends to take full advantage of her opponent’s state. The younger lady advances to meet Fuslie in her territory, jabbing at her head repeatedly, a few sneaking through and snapping her head back. A few good punches and Fuslie is on the retreat, ending up near a neutral corner as Audra moves in to go to work. Trapping her in the corner, Audra pummels Fuslie with uppercuts to the stomach, working her over and further sapping her stamina as she begins to breathe even heavier. Fuslie moves her gloves to defend low, and Audra goes high, slamming one, two consecutive hooks into her opponent’s chin before Fuslie weaves out of a third to counter with a wild hook, landing on Audra’s chest as a moan is drawn from her lips. Audra goes back to fighting smart, keeping Fuslie confined to a small space but backing off a bit, trying to pick her shots. She waits patiently for Fuslie to throw a committing strike and slips it, countering with a straight right that lands on Fuslie’s face. She falls back into the corner, taking an uppercut to the chin before the bell rings to save her from what could have surely been a knockout. Audra takes the round wide as both ladies return to their stools. Swelling is starting to develop on Fuslie’s left eye from the punishment this round.

Round 3: It’s evident that both girls are a bit tired now at round three in the fight, coming together slower than previous rounds. As they meet, they circle for a few moments, neither girl wanting to make the first move. Ref tells them to fight and Audra takes initiative, feinting a left jab low but really throwing out a right hook high. Fuslie fails to read the moves, going to block low and taking another big hit to her already swelling eye. She backs up a few steps, head in her gloves as Audra begins to walk her down. Fuslie gets her bearings back as she hits the ropes, just in time to react to some more blows from Audra. Fuslie blocks two blows to her midsection using her elbows, ducks the hook upstairs and retaliates, landing a devastating hook on Audra’s chin! She’s hurt, backpedaling and blinking trying to figure out what just happened to her as Fuslie walks her down, picking her apart, focusing on the midsection in what seems to be an attempt to break down her opponent’s stamina. Audra’s beaten to the other side of the ring as she turtles up, trying to protect herself but taking devastating blows. Uppercuts land to the stomach and the chest, making her nearly kiss her toes before Fuslie swaps, throwing a huge uppercut while Audra’s bent over. It lands straight on her nose, and there’s some blood trickling out as she is locked up on the ropes. Another hook lands on the face before she gets a chance to engage in a clinch with her opponent, saving herself from further abuse but for a moment. Ladies are separated by the ref, and Audra’s looking shaky. Last few seconds of the round sees Fuslie unloading on Audra’s stomach, and she nearly loses her mouthguard as the bell rings. Miller left hanging from the ropes at the end of the round, huffing and puffing air. Bruises are becoming visible on her stomach from all the targeting from Fuslie, who takes the round wide.

Round 4: Both ladies once more obey the call of the bell, dukes up and bounce forward to meet in the center of the ring at the start of the fourth round. First minute is very tame, both girls throwing out jabs, blocking and retaliating, but not much is gained or lost. It’s shaping up to be a bit of a slow round at this rate, before Audra sees a pattern in Fuslie’s moves. Audra throws out another jab as bait, predicting the exact move that Fuslie will make, ducking the blow and getting a clean blow to her exposed belly before going upstairs with a follow up hook to the jaw, once more targeting the swelling eye of her opponent. Fuslie recognizes the trouble she’s in and backs away, getting near the ropes as Audra attempts to unload. Fuslie expertly dodges and blocks, looking like an almost new fighter from just a few moments ago, before she finds an opening to clinch up, wasting some precious time before the ref separates them. Just a few more seconds to go and Fuslie weathers the storm, getting out of the rest of the round with little damage. Judges give this round narrowly to Audra.

Round 5: Both girls looking exhausted as they exit their corners for round five, a clear sign of two rookies burning out too early. They show heart, however, as they both get out to keep fighting, seemingly intent on going the distance, or dropping while trying. Not too much action in the first minute of the round, mostly light jabs, each girl trying to get some kind of advantage. Moving into minute two, Fuslie finds what she wants, an opening in the tired defense of Audra as well as some of her own strength. Audra throws a wide hook and Fuslie slips, clobbering Audra’s chin with a perfectly placed uppercut that rocks Audra! She’s stumbling back on wobbly legs, eyes blinking rapidly and her guard nowhere near where it needs to be to defend as Fuslie plows her with a left hook-right hook combo, sending her head snapping to the side before a powerful uppercut lifts Audra onto her tip-toes, setting her up for one final hook to the chin, where spit and a mouthguard fly out of her mouth as she crumples to the floor! Face on the canvas and clutching her stomach with her arms, the ref begins to count as they grab the ejected mouthguard and clean it off. Audra fumbles, clearly in a lot of pain and not sure where she is as she uses the nearby ropes to climb to her feet. The ref places the mouthguard back into her mouth and asks if she’s okay, to which Audra nods, putting her gloves up. Last few moments of the round and Audra turtles up, clinching when she gets a chance and survives to the bell, this round going wide to Fuslie.

Round 6: Round six consists of some more light action between the two ladies. Audra is still hurting from the fifth, and Fuslie is doing her best to keep some kind of pressure on her, but is stifled by her opponent’s jab as well as her own exhaustion. Both girls boxing flat footed at this point, movement at a minimum and just slugging each other with slow, well telegraphed blows, most of them landing on the opponent's guard. A few clinches happen, wasting time and trying to sap energy from one another, but other than that, the round is deemed a draw, and both girls go back to their corners no worse for wear.

Round 7: Round seven sees a small reinvigoration for both ladies after taking off the sixth, small hops in their step as they move out to the center, dancing around each other for much of the first minute. Audra goes low with a powerful left hook that lands on Fuslie’s ribs, and she bends to the side, yelping in pain as the blow lands. Audra follows up with a right hook

upstairs, landing right on the money and pummeling Fuslie’s swollen eye. Fuslie backpedaling quickly, trying to recover as she is clearly rocked. Audra chasing her down, landing a few blows in the chase as Fuslie bounces off the ropes and tries to run some more. Audra able to catch her on her exit, sending a flurry! Left hook connects with face, right hook connects with face and Fuslie’s legs turn to jello! She lands flat on her back, arms above her head, left eye nearly swollen shut at this point. Ref stands over her and begins counting as Fuslie’s hands and feet begin to spasm slightly. Ref notices and calls off the fight for a KO in the seventh round, Audra Miller!

After: Medical team rushing over to Fuslie to render aid as Audra does not even celebrate, she looks on with concern at her friend. She removes her gloves and goes to her side, “I’m sorry Leslie,” she kisses her own fingers and places them on Fuslie’s forehead before she lets the medics get to work on her. She bows and shows thanks to the crowd, appreciating her support on her first win in the FCBA.
