Intro:
Second bout of tonight sees two women who haven't won a fight yet in this year's Diamond Boxing Tournament look to change that around. Lorena Rae (0-3) and Alexandria Morgan (0-3) have both arguably been unlucky not to have won yet but in the Allianz Cloud Arena we will have one woman on the winning side of a bout.
Heading into the bout both gave their opinions on camera. First up Lorena spoke at her hotel room as she wore a black dress and stood in front of her bed. Lorena said "look Alexandria I don't care if you nearly come close to beating the likes of Antje (Utgaard) or any of those who haven't lost so far. You simply weren't good enough to beat them is all that matters." Looking annoyed that Alexandria seems to be getting praise from pundits for her performances, if not for the results.
Lorena places her hands on her hips as she adds "I am going to add another black mark to your record, I've fought at the championship level before, yet people seem to have forgotten how good I am. I can't wait to knock you out cold Morgan."
Alexandria on the other hand wore a white blouse with white shorts in her own hotel room as she sat on her bed with a smile. She says "ok things haven't went smoothly but I am getting some people talking. The main thing will be once I score my first win in the tournament. That will make all the false dawns so far worth it."
She then crosses her right leg over her left before adding "oh and to Lorena. I am sending you on a one way trip back to Germany with two black eyes and another loss you overrated bytch." Giving the middle finger salute on her right hand to the camera and specifically her future opponent, showing no love lost between them.
Fight Night! First to come out is Lorena with her coach Gina Wild. Who keeps quiet but her body language says a thousand words as she is looking at the floor. Lorena on the other hand strides down the aisle and soon enough steps into the ring. She is wearing a white sports bra with black stripes down the side, matching trunks and shoes, black gloves and her hair is braided. Lorena taps the top turnbuckle in her corner to psyche herself up.
Alexandria is led out by her coach as she raises her arms into the air. She is wearing a red sports bra and shoes, blue gloves, while she has stars and stripes pattern trunks, hair tied into a ponytail. Alexandria climbs into the ring to a mixed response. She bounces on her toes with a relaxed look.
Both fighters walk to the middle of the ring, the tension is clear as neither wants to add another defeat to their records. There's a quick swipe of their gloves with their opponent before walking to the corners. Once everything is ready the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
The fight starts with both women a little tentative as neither wants to make a mistake. Alexandria firing a few short combos around the face of Lorena. She is met with punches back around her jugs to make her back off. Both women glaring at each other as they know that this person is trying to stop them from getting off the mark in the tournament and they'll show no mercy to them for that.
After the opening minute they start to unleash more punches in volume. Alexandria catches Lorena on her ear with a right hook that backs the German fighter off her. A double jab follows to push back Rae towards the outside part of the ring. Alexandria now looking comfortable as she forces Lorena to fight on the outside.
While Lorena gets some success moving in closer, she is getting caught flush with some stiff straight punches to put her more under wraps. At the bell Lorena curses herself in German for not getting off to the start she wanted. Alexandria meanwhile sits on her stool looking ready for more.
Round 2:
Alexandria gets off the blocks quickly with her punches smacking Lorena through to her face. Lorena finding herself backed near the ropes. She dips under a straight to whack in a short right to the body of Alexandria before landing an overhand left onto her jaw to make the American back off.
Lorena now driving back Alexandria with straight punches under her chin to have her on her heels. Alexandria needs to clinch when her back touches the ropes. They are split apart with Lorena quick to resume as they trade shots. Alexandria getting swarmed by the German fighter.
Late in the round Alexandria managed to push off Lorena. They go toe to toe as they show how much they are willing to risk to win. Several clean shots twists heads around as the crowd roars them on. At the bell they both walk to their corners looking deeply serious.
Round 3:
Both fighters are starting to look annoyed by their opponent. A double jab catches Lorena on her forehead to make her retreat. As Alexandria looks to push the pace she is met with a counter straight flush into her face. The crowd are cheering and whistling both stunning women on.
Alexandria lands a left cross to the face of her opponent before landing an uppercut to push Lorena to her heels. Lorena finding herself under fire as Alexandria steps after her, pinning Rae into a neutral corner. She is swinging in hooks till she gets pulled into a clinch. Referee splits them apart with a few choice words exchanged between the fighters.
As they resume again Lorena is fighting hard off her back foot. Alexandria is looking to keep the pressure on her but is getting caught flush at times with punches coming her way. At the end of the round Alexandria looks fired up as she storms back to her corner. Gina is getting to keep Lorena from losing her head.
Round 4:
There's a red hue forming on the cheeks of Lorena from the straight shots she is taking. Lorena getting smacked around her cheeks but she is finding ways of counter attacking when Alexandria gets overly keen. Leading to Alexandria backing off at times to reset herself.
A left hook catches Morgan flush on her chin to turn her head. Rae now pushing the pace as she lands an uppercut to knock Alexandria onto her heels. The American finding herself forced into her own corner, where she is being told to hold as she is being worked around her torso.
After holding Lorena to force a break. Alexandria looks happy to be able to breath. Both women landing stiff shots to faces as they circle and box at midrange. Neither wanting to give an inch to their opponent, even as sweat comes from their brows. The bell rings to end proceedings with both women locking eyes from their stools.
Round 5:
Both women again come out looking to get on top quickly. A left hook catches Alexandria around her temple and there is a clear shake to her legs. AN UPPERCUT LANDS FLUSH ON THE CHIN OF MORGAN TO SEND HER DOWN ONTO HER BACKSIDE!
Lorena walks to the neutral corner with a quick breath. 1....2....3.... Alexandria meanwhile is shaking her head to try to clear it. 4.....5.....6.... Alexandria pushes up to her knees with a scowl on her face. 7....8... Getting to her feet, she raises her gloves to show she wants more.
They are told to fight on. It is obvious to see that Alexandria is struggling to hold off a rampaging Lorena. A straight on the nose of the blonde opens her up to a left hook again around the temple. Alexandria stumbles into the ropes. LORENA PINNING HER TO THEM BATTERING HER FOE! THE REFEREES STEPS IN TO SAVE ALEXANDRIA FROM MORE PUNISHMENT!
Winner Lorena Rae TKO Round 5
After:
Lorena jumps for joy as finally she is back to winning ways after a rough start to this year. Gina is all smiles as she climbs into the ring, the coach telling the nearest camera to her "see that's what the quality of my teaching produces." Almost trying to steal the spotlight from her fighter.
The winner returns to her corner to a heroes welcome from her corner crew as they pat her on the back and tell her how proud they are of her. Lorena fighting back tears as she knows this is just the first step back on the right path.
All the while Alexandria has to be helped to he corner and onto her stool. She half heartedly protests to the referee for stopping the bout. She has to feel even worse now that she is the only fighter not to have a win so far in the tournament. Her gloves are taken off and once she is able to, she steps out the ring with help. Just wanting to be in the back as she looks like she wants the ground to swallow her whole.
As Alexandria leaves the ring. Lorena heads to the middle of the ring as the result is announced, her left arm raised as she looks like a ton of bricks has been taken off her back. She blows kisses to the fans cheering her at ringside.
Soon enough though Lorena is leaving the ring with now at least a light in her future. Gina telling her to keep listening to what she has to say. Lorena rolls her eyes with a grin. What can Lorena do in her remaining tournament bouts now? |
