Intro:
Next up in the first round of the Golden Ticket tournament sees Alanah Pearce hope to get her career back on track. She takes on BBU star Alexina Graham as the Nottingham native makes her FCBA debut. They step into the ring here in Levi's Stadium in San Francisco hoping to advance to the semi finals.
Alanah last fought a year ago in a rematch against Ashley Graham that didn't go her way. Her one victory in her pro boxing career was against Khloe Kardashian. She did win though in her Creator Clash charity boxing debut by split decision against Mika Midgett.
While Alexina meanwhile has stuck to boxing on British soil throughout her career, this being her first time in the FCBA. She has been on a little downward slope but has the tools in some pundits eyes to be a contender if she can find the confidence she had early on in her career.
Fight Night! Alanah comes out with a "Dragon Ball" inspired gear on as she wears an orange sports bra, orange trunks with a blue waistband, blue shoes and gloves, her hair is braided. She flexes for the crowd as she smiles, enjoying the reception she gets. Climbing into the ring, she mounts the bottom ropes in her corner to raise her arms in the air before hopping down.
Now Alexina comes out wearing a pink sports bra with red stripes down the sides, matching trunks and shoes, red gloves and her hair is braided too. She looks like she means business with a cold fury to her expression. Stepping into the ring, Alexina shadow boxes in her corner.
Walking to the middle of the ring, certainly no smiles now as hands on their hips they square up to each other. All business as they nod when told to touch gloves but don't actually bump fists. Clearly knowing this is all about winning, nobody will care about the loser in their minds. Once they are ready the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
There's a flurry of jabs from both to start off. Getting a feel for each other before the harder shots start to come in. Alanah catches Alexina on her forehead with a straight, she just misses with a left hook as Alexina moves back to land a counter jab into her face.
The opening minute passes and Alanah is the one to push the pace up a notch as she lands a jab/straight combo. Follows with a left hook around the guard of the redhead to knock her to the side a step. Alexina covering up more tightly as the Aussie switches her targets up.
Less then a minute to go; Alexina trying to fight out her guard with a few two punch combos. Alanah though is outworking her with body shots and a few punches through to her face when she opens up. The round comes to a close with Alexina nodding to her coach knowing she needs to do better.
Round 2:
Doubling up her jab and moving more towards the left of her opponent, Alexina looks to have her laser focus back. Alanah still feud in a few solid body shots but is getting clipped back around her cheeks when she opens up.
A straight catches Alanah on her lips. That seems to annoy her into swinging in two hooks that only find air. Alexina now starting to show her footwork to create space and land some nice counter punches into the face of her opponent.
Alanah seems to cool off late in the round to be able to get back behind her jab. Alexina landing more punches though between them as she keeps up on her toes. The round comes to a close with Alanah tapping her cheeks as she walks back to her corner. Alexina sitting on her stool getting a drink looking more relaxed now.
Round 3:
Back out they go with Alexina wanting to repeat her success from the last round. Alanah is looking to rough up Alexina as she uses little nudges with her left to try to stop the rhthym of the redheads footwork. Things getting scruffy as they swing at each other when in close.
Alanah lands a cuffing left hook on the ear of Alexina. That is followed up with a straight that causes a little trickle of blood from the nostrils. Alanah grabs hold of the middle of the ring as she works her foe around the ring. Alexina again going back into her shell somewhat as she wants to protect her nose.
Late in the round Alanah nudges Alexina to the ropes and now uses her muscle to work the torso of her opponent. Alexina needing to clinch up to slow her down. The referee breaks them up with Alexina happy to be back into space to work till the bell rings. Alanah fired up as she yells "come on!" As she walks to her corner.
Round 4:
Alanah looking to keep the pressure on her opponent as she steps after Alexina. Both are landing punches through the others guard when they throw in flurries. Alexina sidesteps to the left of her opponent to land a nice counter right across her face. Alanah eats another jab/straight combo into her face as Alexina is starting to get her momentum back.
But Alanah lands a crisp jab into her nose to slow her down. Stepping inside to work the body of Graham, Pearce muscles her opponent back to the ropes as she looks to pin her down. A few punches land around the others kidneys as they show how much this means to them. Alexina grabbing hold of her opponent to force the referee to step in to break them up.
Late in the round both are working around the middle of the ring. Alanah landing some nice body shots but getting whacked back across her face when Alexina opens up space between them. The round comes to a close with both probably happy with some of their successes but annoyed they couldn't grab a firm control of the round.
Round 5:
Resuming with both women landing more stiffer punches as they feel that urge to win grow. Alanah tries to step in with a left hook that finds thin air. ALEXINA OPENED THE SPACE WITH A SIDESTEP TO THE RIGHT BEFORE LANDING A COUNTER LEFT ONTO THE TEMPLE OF ALANAH! WHO GOES DOWN TO HER RIGHT KNEE!
Alanah is shaking her head trying to claim the cobwebs as Alexina jogs to the neutral corner. 1....2....3... Alanah looks over to her corner blinking hard. 4.....5.....6... She stands up with a little wobble to her feet. Raising her fists assuring the referee she can fight on.
They are told to fight on but it's clear early on Alanah isn't okay. A straight snaps her head back as she stumbles back two steps. ALEXINA POUNDS HER BACK AGAINST THE ROPES. IN COMES THE TOWEL FROM THE PEARCE CORNER AS SHE IS BEING HURT WAY TOO EASILY FOR THEIR LIKING!
Winner Alexina Graham TKO Round 5
After:
Alexina walks straight over to her corner to fist bump her coach. She takes a deep breath before allowing herself a big smile after spitting her gumshield out. She gets a pat on her left shoulder by her coach as she is told "one down, two more to go" with a wink.
Alanah meanwhile wants to complain to her coach about them stopping the fight. Problem for her is she stumbles over to her corner when she tries to walk there by herself. Needing her coach to help her the rest of the way there. Alanah looking at her feet wondering it seems how she lost this bout.
Out the ring steps Alanah with help from her coach. She shouldn't beat herself up too much for this result. One mistake cost her and maybe it won't be long before she can return to winning ways if she can find more work and not be out the ring for a while.
In the ring Alexina gets her right hand raised in victory. She smiles to the cameras as now she has a semi final to look forwards to. Stepping out the ring moments later as she will need to prepare for that bout against either Maroles Horst or Bianca Belair. Can the Nottingham girl win it all tonight? |
