DOVE CAMERON VS DANIELLE ROSE RUSSELL

Dove: 28 YO, 5’2 (1.59 m), 30-23-0, 30 KO since 2016, Hawkeye International Sports Consortium

Danielle: 24 YO, 5’3 (1.60 m),10-14-0, 10 KO since 2019, Foxfire Boxing

Before: “I will admit I have been struggling lately,” says Danielle Rose Russell, “but I am determined to achieve the kind of success I believe I can accomplish. Dove is is going to be a challenge, but that’s how you get better—overcoming challenging opponents.”

“I am flattered that Dani realizes what challenge I am” says Dove Cameron. “ I believe she will soon find out I am more of a challenge than she can handle. Meanwhile, I want to work my way to another Flyweight title. Regaining that belt is all the motivation I need.”

Both fightwrs showing lots of determination as they face off in the ring. DRR is in a black sports bra with short matching trunks, black boots and gloves. Dani’s hair in a battle braid. Dove is wearing red halter topped sports bra and matching trunks. Red boots and gloves with black laces. Dove’s hair is down her back in a long French braid. The referee proceeds through the instructions. That done, Dove and Dani touch gloves and go to their corners. The bell rings…

R1: DRR on the attack early, circling around Dove and firing in quick bursts of jabs. Dove sizing Dani up, then launches her counterattack with a barrage of her own jabs. Dani now closing in and strikes at Dove to the ribs and belly. Dove answering with swabbing punches to Dani’s chest. Dani now adds a sudden shift to the jaw with a solid right hand that swivels Dove’s head Then she clips Dove Hard to the jaw. Dove lurching back, throws up jabs to try to slow DRR’s pursuit. Dani working her way through the jabs to fire in overhand right to the side of Dove;s head that sends a tremor down her legs. Dove now covering up and leaving Dani little to follow-up on. Then round ends. Judges find this round was close, but DRR is awarded the stanza.

R2: Dove showing more aggression from the start this round. She is fast to the middle of the ring and gets her leather hard against Danielle’s jaw. DRR recoils, but then comes in going at Dove to the ribs and belly once again. Dove takes up the challenge and the to go at it point-blank with short rights and left striking with power. Dove slowly begins to push DRR back and bend her forward with repeated midsection hooks. DRR keeps hitting back, but finally has to scoot out of range just before the bell. Again roun is close, but this time it is Dove Camerin who wins it on the judges’ cards.

R3: Out they come for the new round. DRR moving just a bit faster. She looks like she is going back to Dove’s torso, but this proves a feint. Dani brings sweeping rights and lefts crashing into Dove’s jaw and the side of her head. Dove stumbling back from the follow-up which sees Dani now hooking Dove to the belly, Dove hunched up trying to use her jab to slow Dani down, but Dani moving from side to side is able to dodge most counters and keep the pressure on Dove. Dove covers her head to guard against knockdown, but her body taking a real scrubbing to the bell. DRR wins this round wide.

R4: Danielle eagerly rushing forward from her corner at the bell, but Dove is waiting for her. Dove blocks DRR’s big right to the head and strikes back with a right of her own that crashes into Dani’s chin. Dani knocked back on her heels, is slow to get her mitts up to cover her head and this allows Dove to whack away with rights and lefts that have Dani’s head spinning. Dani finally able to get her high guard in place, but now Dove works Dani to the body. Dani trying to get some counters going, but then gets doubled up by deep hooks into her abs. Dove banging punches off the sides of DRR’s head at the bell. Dove wins this round wide and leaves DRR rubbery legged as she makes her way back to her corner.

R5: Foxfire corner team working hard to get Danielle out for the new round. She comes out but she is moving sluggishly. Dove swoops in on DRR and unloads a firestorm of hooks to Dani’s midsection. Dani jackknifed at the waist and her high guard falls apart. Dove instantly goes for the chin with right and left uppercuts that snap Dani’s head back like a bobble-head. One more right uppercut AND DANI RUSSELL SAGS TO HER KNEE THEN TO ALL FOURS! Referee moves in to count as Dove goes to the neutral corner. Dani pulls herself together and makes it to her feet at “EIGHT!” Referee makes a quick check and then waves Dove back in. Very quickly, Dani is in trouble again, Dove is firing to head and body and then to her flanks. Dani looks confused and is driven back into the ropes. Dani desperately trying to slide to safety along the ropes, but Dove not letting her escape. She breaks Dani’s high guard and smashes rights and lefts to the head in a horrifying fashion! AND THE REFEREE JUMPS IN! DRR mumbles a protest, but the referee has clearly done the right thing. Dove Cameron holds up her right arm in victory.

THE WINNER: DOVE CAMERON DEFEATS DANIELLE ROSE RUSSELL TKO5!

After: “I said I would be too much for her and I was,” says a smiling Dove Cameron after the fight. “Oh , she did get me a few problems, especially in the 3rd, but I figured her out. I should add that fight should not have been allowed to continue after that knockdown. I’m here to win fights, not actually hurt someone,”

Dani Russell not up to speaking with the press until the next day, she is wearing dark glasses, but her face is puffy with bruises. “What can I say? I lost and she won. I just have to move on to the next fight and ut this one behind me.”

Lively contest while it lasted. Started out back and forth with DRR seeming to move ahead in R3. Unfortunately for Ms. Russell, Dove Cameron rallied in R4 and left Danielle a shambles. Dani was then finished off in the 5th round. So Danielle’s apparent troubles continue, while Dove’s Flyweight Title prospects seem helped by this win.
