Selena Gomez vs Elettra Lamborghini (Princess of the Ice Hotel Title)

BEFORE:

Pair of brunettes on really nice runs meet with the Ice Hotel as the prize. Champ Selena's held the title of Princess for over a year now, and, in that time, she's lost only twice, both in fights for the bantamweight gold. Meanwhile, hard-hitting Elettra is four for five this year, with her only loss coming in a JMD Title bout against Sophie Mudd. So, as you might imagine, both fighters are confident coming in. "There's a REASON I've been Princess over a year," says Selena with a smile. "I'm just that good."

"She's been princess long enough," says Elettra with a smile of her own. "Time to fit MY head for the crown!"

ROUND ONE:

Lamborghini aggressive in the first. No upset there, as Elettra has power and knows how to use it. But, Gomez knows all of this, too, and she's not about to stand and trade with Italian. Instead, Gomez gets her box on, moving the feet, snapping out that left, looking to create space. No one has a reach advantage here, so it's all about the geometry, who's getting to where they need to be to get off. And, both champion and challenger have their moments, scoring points, putting punches together. Add it all up and you get a good, two-way round with neither fighter able to gain much of an advantage. At the bell, however, it's Selena who's done a bit more and taken the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

More of the same, as both brunettes work to get favorable terms. Elettra's trying to step to, even walk Selena down behind the jab at times. But, Gomez showing mastery of staying off square. She's not dancing, but she's moving the feet, slipping and dipping, playing the angles, all to keep Lamborghini from lining her up and dropping right handed bombs on her. Meanwhile, Elettra's working hard, at times putting together solid combinations that toss the Princess to the defensive. But, she can't keep her there, and the work Lamborghini does when she's putting punches together is offset by Gomez when she's boxing. When the bell rings, once again, there's not much in it, but, once again, Selena has the points to extend her lead to 20-18.

ROUND THREE:

Ladies again working to negotiate favorable terms. Elettra wants to bring that power to bear, while Selena boxes slick, stays off squa...BOOM! Right hand, LAMBORGHINI and the Princess is HURT! Gomez's knees do a shimmy and the Italian is ALL IN, blazing away with both hands, forcing Selena BACK BACK BACK into the ropes, where she hammers away at the older woman's body, hooking ribs and tummy, looking to bring that guard down. Gomez taking a pounding, but keeping the gloves up. Elettra upstairs and right back down, punishing her rival again and again. Ref looking in closely, but the Princess does enough to keep him at bay to the bell. When it rings, it's Lamborghini wide, and Gomez's lead is cut to 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Lamborghini forward. Selena in retreat. Gomez plenty unsteady, and the Italian is taking full advantage, backing her up over and over again with hard shot to the head. Elettra ignoring the body for the first half of the round, but, about 90 seconds in, she traps the Princess on the cables and has at her, tenderizing tummy and ripping punches into ribs. Gomez crouching, trying to tie up, keeping that guard high, jabbing back in spots. Final thirty seconds sees Elettra slow. She's used a TON of energy these last two rounds. Gomez takes advantage, getting off the ropes and getting a bit of offense going. It's far to late to matter in the fourth, though, At the bell, it's Lamborghini wide and we're even at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Lamborghini pressing. Gomez has some leg back, though, so she's able to move, get off square, mostly avoid being walked down by the hard-hitting Italian. Elettra determined to stay on the offensive, though. She wants to take the fight to Selena, and Gomez, still a bit buzzed, isn't able to completely stop that. Instead, she works in counter, giving ground in spots, keeping the defense sound, finding opportunties to get off and doing it effectively. Late in the round, Selena begins holding canvas, firing back hard, and we get some of the sharpest exchanges of the fight. At the bell, Gomez has done enough to keep this one closer, but Lamborghini gets the points and takes the 48-47 lead at the half.

ROUND SIX:

Back to where we were in the first three rounds. Elettra working to square, bring that power to bear. Selena boxing, moving head, hands, and feet, slick, playing excellent defense, not allowing Lamborghini to throw her onto the defensive...BOOM! Right hand, GOMEZ and Lamborghini is GOBSMACKED! Elettra wobbled and Gomez going all in to try to get her out of there. Soon enough, the Italian is on the ropes and taking, just like the American did in the previous two rounds. Gomez not bothering with much body. She's THUMPING away upstairs looking to end this thing, but she can't do it. At the bell, Elettra is still standing. Gomez takes the round wide, though, and we're even at 57.

ROUND SEVEN:

Gomez looking to finish. Lamborghini still buzzed, giving ground as Selena comes forward behind the jab, landing solid right hands. Elettra countering in spots, clearly still dangerous, and Gomez knows it. BOOM! Selena with a three-punch combination and DOWN GOES THE CHALLENGER! A SCINTILLATING jab-right hand-left hook trio and Elettra crashes to her right side! Gomez quickly to a neutral corner. Lamborghini struggling immediately to get to her feet, pushes to elbow and haunch, then to hands and knees, looks up with a teary-eyed pleading expression to the ref, only to see the number is nine. It's OVER! Elettra still on all fours as the count passes her by and it's OVER and your winner by KO7 and STILL Princess of the Ice Hotel is Selena Gomez!

AFTER:

Selena clearly looking like a girl who's been in a fight, but the smile tells you who came out on top. "She can hit about as well as anyone in this division," the Princess admits. "But, that's not what it's all about. It's about being a great FIGHTER. She isn't. I AM. And, that's why she ended up on her knees before the Princess!"
