A MUSICAL NIGHT AT THE ASYLUM VI: JASON LIVES!

BEFORE:

"No pressure on ME tonight," says Shakira with a smile. "Everyone knows I'm just here as an opponent. But, maybe it's not going to work out that way..."

"She's good and she's experienced," Olivia admits. "But, that's not going to be enough tonight. Not nearly enough."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Hips Don't Lie' and here comes the singer of that tune, the lovely Shakira!"

McCarthy: "How old IS this fossil! It's ridiculous Weirdo trotting out these over-the-hill tomato cans to puff up the records of his Dancing Hookers..."

Tess: "She's five years younger than YOU..."

McCarthy: "SHE...YOU...I...age ain't NOTHIN' BUT A NUMBER!"

O'Dell: "Shakira into the ring and helped off with the robe, and she certainly doesn't LOOK like she's over the hill if the crowd's reaction to the blonde beauty in that leopard print bikini is any indication...and, that's 'Good 4 U' you hear behind us, and that can only mean that 'The Murrieta Mauler', Olivia Rodrigo is heading to the ring..."

Cassie: "Rodrigo's done well in her transition to flyweight, but, considering the strength of the division at Front Street, she needs to keep getting results if she wants to climb that pecking order."

O'Dell: "Olivia into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, and the crowd loving Olivia in that marigold number she likes. Ladies about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Rodrigo. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Nothin' but a number! Shakira!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "Split panel. Let's see who's right. Brunette setting up at range here and working the jab on the older blonde. No surprise here, as Rodrigo has good reach for a flyweight and likes to use it. She's snapping that jab in Shakira's face consistently..."

Tess: "Olivia's done well since the move to fly. Then again, she did well at bantam, too."

O'Dell: "Shakira can't get the geometry right at the moment. She's trying to find ways to angle past her rival's defenses, but can't get that done. Instead, it's the brunette in control here, working the left, dropping rights off it..."

McCarthy: "Patience. Shakira will get her."

O'Dell: "Down to the final half minute of the first. NICE combination Olivia and that stopped Shakira in her tracks. Blonde trying to work in, but having zero success doing it. Final seconds tick away and there's the bell. Olivia. Wide."

Cassie: "And, Rodrigo takes the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Shakira with an adjustment now. She's in a half-crouch, working forward with the gloves high. She's blocking that jab, stepping inside, getting to work at middle distances. Rodrigo responding in kind, and we're seeing some nice exchanges in there..."

McCarthy: "This kid isn't going to like fighting on Shakira's terms."

O'Dell: "Doing OK with it so far, though Olivia's not in control as she was in the first. Instead, we've got a good, two-way round going on, with both fighters able to score and some good defense being played by both blonde and brunette..."

Cassie: "Olivia still trying to get distance..."

O'Dell: "She is, but she's not having success doing so. Shakira's found some things now, and she's taking advantage of them. Ten seconds to go in what's been a very competitive second. Good right hand by Shakira, and there's the bell. Close, but the blonde gets it."

Tess: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins with more aggression from the blonde. Shakira's found a way to get the terms she wants, and now she's sitting down on punches, looking to bring her power to bear against the younger woman. GOOD right hand for the Colombian..."

Tess: "Backed Olivia up with it."

O'Dell: "Sure did. Rodrigo giving some ground now, trying to manage. Older woman very aggressive now. She's not getting sloppy, but she's sitting down on punches, working some body, staying right in Olivia's grill at the moment."

McCarthy: "This is how she can win the fight."

O'Dell: "Olivia giving more ground. She's trying to create space with that left, but she can't do it. Instead, it's Shakira getting work done. She's been in charge the whole round. Final seconds ticking away and there's the bell. The blonde takes it wide."

Cassie: "And pulls into a 29-28 lead."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Rodrigo making a bit of an adjustment now. More lateral movement from the brunette, who's also using a drop step to create some space. Shakira still working forward in that half-crouch, finding ways through the brunette's defenses..."

Cassie: "Both fighters getting some work done..."

O'Dell: "Indeed, they are. Olivia scoring well when she can keep Shakira at bay, putting punches together, piling up points. But, when the blonde is able to close, she's able to offset the work the brunette is doing at range."

McCarthy: "One punch. That's all Shakira needs..."

O'Dell: "Twenty seconds left in the fourth. It's been nip-and-tuck the entire way. Rodrigo with a nice flurry and then another. Shakira steps to, works a little body and there's the bell. Close, but Olivia's back on the board."

Tess: "And, we're even at 38."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Fifth begins like the fourth ended, with the ladies working to negotiate terms. Olivia moving laterally, drop stepping at times, all in service of getting space to get her box on. Blonde working forward in that half crouch..."

Tess: "Shakira in very good shape. Hasn't slowed a bit as we head for the half way point..."

O'Dell: "Olivia lands a nice combination. Stopped Shakira coming in with that left jab. Does it AGAIN and the blonde is HURT! Shakira WOBBLY BUTT and SHAKIRA DOWN after an overhand right from Olivia! Oh, what a shot that was!"

Cassie: "A BOOMING right hand!"

O'Dell: "Olivia to a neutral corner. Shakira flat on her back. Count at three. Four. Five. Blonde rolling to her belly at six. Seven. Eight. Pushing to hands and knees. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Shakira still on all fours as the count passes her by and it's OVER and your winner by KO5 is 'The Murrieta Mauler', Olivia Rodrigo!"

McCarthy: "Lucky punch!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Olivia Rodrigo, and O-Rod, she gave you a fight there for a while..."

Olivia (nodding): "Not surprised at all. She's still in great shape and knows what she's doing. But, I'm getting more and more comfortable at flyweight. Just a matter of making the right adjustments and I knew I'd get her."

Tess: "So, flyweight is it, or will you do some work at bantam, too?"

Olivia (smiling): "We've got a pretty full division at bantam. If management wants me to fight there, I will. But, like I said, I'm getting more and more comfortable here at fly."
