Intro:
Round five is certainly heating up in the Diamond Boxing Tournament this year. Next up Lorena Rae (1-3) after her first victory of the tournament a month ago meets Alice Goodwin (2-2). Who scored a bit of an upset last month as she defeated Bridgette Satterlee to dent Satterlee's chances of winning this tournament. Which of these two will continue their upward momentum and whose will be shutdown?
The Alamodome in Texas is where the fight will take place but before the contest, both were on a set to discuss their thoughts going into this bout. Lorena for hers stepped onto the set wearing a black blouse with a black skirt and open toed heels.
Lorena sits down with a grin. Telling the camera "I guess I showed everyone I am not to be messed with last month. People felt I was simply going to be a punch bag through this tournament. The fact is I am someone who has had title shots before in my career. Has fought some of the greats and I look forwards to continue my march forwards."
She then continues with an expression that almost looks like she wants to vomiting by saying "to you Alice you cow! I am going to repay you for last time we fought. I had only two weeks to prepare for you and you got lucky! This time around I am going to stand over you as I make an example of your fat ass."
Alice comes on the set for her turn in a black dress with her legs on show proudly with black heels. She sits down grinning as she says "what can I say? I have beaten Bridgette down, I hear she hasn't forgiven me for that." Rolling her eyes before she laughs hard.
"Another hater of mine is Lorena. Two years ago I flattened you in the ring in just five rounds. I am aiming for four this time around because I am better then I was. Physically I feel in better shape. Mentally I am confident and not overthinking things. My stable has helped to rebuild me and I can't wait to show you first hand dear Lorena" says Alice. Pointing to the camera with a smirk as clearly she doesn't feel threatened by her opponent.
Fight night! Lorena comes out first with coach Gina Wild following her. Lorena is looking fired up as she walks down to the ring wearing a black sports bra, matching trunks and shoes, black gloves with yellow thumbs on and her hair is braided. Lorena climbs into the ring and gets told off Gina that she is expected to get revenge here.
Alice begins her walk to the ring with her coach Natascha McElhone to her right. Alice looks focused as she stares at the ring. Feels like plenty of animosity here as Alice gets into the ring. She is wearing a white sports bra with black stripes up the sides, matching trunks and shoes, black gloves with white thumbs and her hair is braided too. Alice taps her chest with her right glove before raising it above her head to acknowledge the cheers of her supporters.
The fighters come to the middle of the ring and need to be nudged apart as Lorena gets into Alice's face and both women bump tits trying to win the early power battle. Both are warned to keep this clean as there is no love lost here. No touch of gloves proving that point without a shadow of a doubt as they walk back to their corners. Once sorted out the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
Out they come with Lorena looking to fire off on Alice with short hooks. Alice steps back and lands a double jab into the face of the German fighter to try to hold her off. Lorena cracks Alice with an uppercut on her chin to push her on her heels. Pressing back the English star onto the ropes to work her with short hooks till she is pushed off.
Alice gets off the ropes and lands a few straight shots into the face of Lorena. Both women exchanging around the middle of the ring now Alice seems to have found her footing. They nearly clash heads at times as they grunt and groan as they work each others body.
Again Lorena manages to back up Alice after landing a left hook around her jaw. Alice covering up as Lorena is definitely looking to earn payback from them their first fight. The bell rings with Gina smiling as Lorena returns to her corner. Alice nods to her coach as she knows she was caught a little cold there.
Round 2:
Pushing off their stools to resume with both women now on a more even foot as they trade. Punches landing on cheeks as neither is focused on their defence. A deflected straight from Rae opens her up to a right hook on her cheek. Alice now is landing the cleaner shots as she slowly walks down her opponent.
Near the ropes now, Lorena not looking as pleased to say the least as she is trying to bash back Alice. Who takes a few solid shots to her face but she growls and swings back at Lorena. They clinch up when Lorena feels her back touching the ropes. Referee needing to step in as Lorena hits her behind her head with rabbit punches.
Resuming after Lorena gets a warning. They go more toe to toe again. A little holding on the inside as both try to overpower their opponent. Leading to the referee breaking them apart. The round comes to an end with both pushing apart with a scowl exchanged between them.
Round 3:
Neither is exactly playing with kid gloves as they smack each other with their feet planted. Lorena steps in to try to push back Alice. Digging away at the English fighters stomach to make her grit her mouthpiece. Alice nudges her back and landing a short right hook to the cheek of Lorena to make her back off.
A straight lands on the chin of Alice to knock her head back. Lorena lands a left hook to twist her head around. Alice covering up more as she is being outworked by Rae. With Goodwin being kept neat the ropes as they move around the ring.
Alice needing to nudge back Lorena to get back into her face. It's scruffy infighting now as they grind foreheads at times while working each others bodies over. The dislike is clear from both as they hiss and exchange hard shots. The bell rings with the referee needed to step in to nudge them apart. They are marked up around their faces with some redness around their bodies.
Round 4:
Alice catches Lorena early on with several clean jabs as she seems to have calmed herself down after getting fired up with her opponents aggression. Lorena swinging still but now being countered as she misses shots.
Into the second minute Lorena gets her nose bloodied by a right cross landing square on it. That looks to have brought a few tears to her eyes. Alice starting to muscle back Lorena to the ropes. Lorena trying to match her punch for punch but is being hurt with each clean punch that lands around her nose.
Under a minute to go. Alice lands an uppercut that clearly rocks Lorena as her knees buckle. A LEFT HOOK TO THE EAR OF LORENA SENDS DOWN ONTO HER LEFT KNEE!
Over to the neutral corner walks Alice with a tense look on her face. 1....2....3... Lorena tries to push to her feet. 4....5... But her legs are jelly and she falls back to sit against the bottom rope. 6....7....8... Lorena blinks hard as 9....10 it's all over!
Winner Alice Goodwin KO Round 4
After:
No revenge for Lorena as she can only look from her bum at Alice raising her arms in the air with a beaming smile after spitting her gumshield out into her right glove. Lorena punches her right fist into the canvas as she is upset at losing again.
The winner returns to her corner with a hug from Natascha. Both smiling as they discuss how well Alice did against an aggressive opponent. Alice getting wiped down by her corner crew as Natascha takes off her gloves.
While Lorena is helped up to her stool. She gets her nose patched up as tears run down her cheeks as she sobs. This was supposed to be her revenge match she would have had a keen eye on when she saw who she was facing in this tournament. Instead she suffers once again at the fists of Alice.
Out the ring steps Lorena and heads to the back with Gina not looking best pleased. While inside the ring Alice gets her right hand raised in the air. Alice nods to the nearest camera with a beaming smile. The rejuvenation of her career is continuing as now she has three wins out of five bouts in this tournament.
Getting out of the ring with Natascha. It always seems that the great fighters need a partnership with a great coach. Alice seems to have found that partnership with Natascha after years of trying to find a home in celebrity female boxing. What can she do in her final two tournament bouts? |
