Intro:
Kendall Jenner is hoping to get her year going in the right direction. Joy meanwhile hoping to keep her momentum towards a title going. The models step into the ring in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to duke it out.
In the build up both women were asked for their opinions about this fight to the FCBA Networks Alicia Atout in the media area. Kendall chats to Alicia wearing a black tank top, black jeans and white baseball style trainers.
She tells Alicia "I hope people haven't forgotten that I am the bar of this division. You have to beat me to show you deserve to be elite. I've seen Joy grow but she isn't at my level." Smirking as she clearly showing how little she respects Joy.
Alicia points out that Joy is on the rise in the rankings. Kendall quickly answers "when you start at a low point you can only go up right." Strutting off laughing to herself as Alicia looks down as she doesn't want to stop Kendall and try to correct her.
Joy is wearing a violet dress to go with her heels. She stands with hands on her hips as she tells Alicia "Kendall has been belittling me for a while. Yet only now when she is on the downturn does she want me now I am up in the rankings. Funny that isn't it?" Alicia nods along with her reasoning.
"Kendall you've used your family name to get where you are. All the opportunities, all the title shots. When I knock you out cold the champions better take notice of me" says Joy sternly. Fired up for this one as she knows how big a statement a win here can be.
Fighting time! Kendall steps out onto the aisle first with her eyes on the ring with a smile. She has her coach Alessandra Ambrosio with her as she walks down to the ring. Kendall is wearing a silver sports bra with matching trunks, shoes and gloves, hair tied into a ponytail. She steps into the ring with her arms in the air as she takes in the loud cheers of her supporters.
Joy walks down the aisle now with her coach Melanie Brown. Joy smiling to her fans as they chant her name as she has her arms out at her sides. She climbs into the ring wearing a red sports bra with gold trim, matching trunks and shoes, red gloves with her hair tied into a ponytail. Joy bounces on her toes in her corner looking relaxed as Melanie tells Joy to show Kendall where she really stands.
The referee waves them to the middle of the ring. They both smirk as they stare each other down. Two confident women not backing down from each other. They bump gloves with their opponent before walking back to their corners. The bell rings to start 10 rounds of lightweight action.
Round 1:
Joy is out her corner looking to take the fight to Kendall, crouching down to land a few two punch combos around the body of her foe. Kendall firing back with single jabs as they are both up on their toes. Joy moving in and out of range in the opening minute. Kendall keeping her eyes on Joy as she tries to get a read on her.
Doubling up her jab more around the top of Joy's head. Kendall is looking to force back Joy. Problem for her is Not lands a few solid overhand shots to make Kendall back off. Joy presses in to work her body as the crowd is cheering the action around them. Kendall needing to hold onto Joy when her back touches the turnbuckles of her own corner.
After being split up Kendall is getting her punches off quicker now she knows that Joy is going to be a pain if she doesn't step up a gear. Joy still gets in closer to work at times before being nudged back. Kendall finishes the round strong with a left hook around the ear of her rival before landing a right cross into her forehead to snap her head back. The round ends with Joy walking back to her corner with a purpose, Kendall taps her own cheeks as if to wake herself up to the task at hand.
Round 2:
Kendall doubles up her jab again and alms more of them around the chest of Joy. That looks to have thrown Joy somewhat off her rhthym. Joy lands a few solid hooks over the top to make Kendall back off as they are fighting to grab control of the action.
A right cross catches Joy flush in her face as she steps forwards. Kendall drives back her foe with piston like punches into her face. Joy trying to fire back with equal intensity but she is being beaten to the punch. Making Corrigan grab hold of Kendall around her arms to slow her down. They are split apart with Joy gritting her gumshield to try not to curse at herself.
Both resume with Joy moving her upper body more to dodge and strike back. Kendall landing cuffing punches around the head of Joy. The round ends with both jogging back to their corners. Kendall looking happy enough as she talks to Alessandra. Joy is shaking her arms to keep herself loose and relaxed.
Round 3:
Now it looks like Joy is adapting to what she is facing by using feints and moving her upper body movement to throw off Kendall. Who is landing a few shots around the head of Joy. But Joy is the one landing more clean shots with counters smacking back Kendall to her heels.
Joy lands a few more hooks to the body of Kendall to make the taller woman hiss out. Kendall landing a few short hooks to the top of Joy's head to make her back off as they head into the second part of the round. Kendall trying to keep control of the fight after the last round success.
But she walks into a straight onto her lips to knock her head back. Joy muscles back Kendall into a neutral corner. Working the body of the Girls Friday fighter, Joy is testing those abs of her opponent. The round comes to an end with Kendall shaking her head annoyed by her opponent. Joy sits on her stool smiling seeing that she is bugging Kendall.
Round 4:
Both women exchanging around the middle of the ring. Joy getting inside to land several solid shots before being pushed back to range. Kendall coming back with straight punches landing into the chest and face of Joy. Several hard fought exchanges sees beads of sweat flying off both fighters.
Kendall catches Joy with a left hook around her temple. Joy covers up more tightly but that allows Kendall the chance to grab hold of the middle of the ring. Joy being forced to move around the perimeter as they trade. Kendall not having it all her own way as Joy is landing fencing blows into the chest of Kendall as she dips down.
Late in the round Joy gets back in closer after slipping a jab. Working in two short right hooks to the ribs of Kendall. Things getting a little scruffy after Kendall shoves off Joy. Both swinging away as they go hard for each other. The bell rings with both holding back but scowling at each other. Walking back to their corners to get cleaned up.
Round 5:
Exchanging with punches marking up each others faces. Joy dips down to drill away at the torso of Kendall to make her groan. Kendall fires back with piston like punches back into her opponents face. Both end up clinched up when Joy nearly headbutts Kendall moving in closer.
After being pried apart. They resume fighting with Joy landing a jab on the chin of Kendall to open her up to a follow up right hook over the top. Joy is now holding the middle as Kendall is being outworked by Corrigan. Kendall trying to match her intensity but she has to cover up more.
Under thirty seconds to go; Kendall does manage to catch Joy with a straight on her nose to slow her down. Kendall moving off the ropes to try coming back at Joy. They trade flurries of punches up until the bell rings. Kendall gets her shoulders massaged as she looks tense, Alessandra telling her to get her head into the game. Joy meanwhile takes a breath to keep herself cool as she is really pushing Kendall so far.
Round 6:
Out they come with Kendall boxing more on the back foot. Joy coming after her as she wants to keep the heat on her opponent. KENDALL CATCHES HER OUT WITH AN UPPERCUT BEFORE JOY CAN LAND A RIGHT HOOK! DOWN GOES JOY ONTO HER BACK!
Walking to the neutral corner with her arms in the air, Kendall certainly enjoyed that shot. 1....2....3....4... Joy turns with a groan to her front and moves towards the ropes. 5....6... Grabbing the middle rope. 7....8... Joy pulls herself to her feet. Shaking her head to try to clear it. She raises her fists after being asked twice if she can fight. The referee allows her to continue.
Joy trying to come back at Kendall as there is some desperation it looks like on her part. Kendall measuring her up with stiff jabs though. A right hook makes Joy stumble back as she is hurting. A JAB/RIGHT HOOK COMBO SENDS JOY BACK INTO HER OWN CORNER! KENDALL IS LANDING A BARRAGE OF PUNCHES AS JOY ISN'T THROWING ANYTHING BACK... IN COMES THE TOWEL FROM THE LIONESS CORNER! MELANIE HAS SEEN ENOUGH AS THE REFEREE STEPS IN TO STOP THE FIGHT!
Winner Kendall Jenner TKO Round 6
After:
Joy goes down to her right knee with swelling around her left cheek. Kendall raising her arms in front of her as she tells Joy "you'll never be in my level!" Causing Mel to get into the ring and push Kendall back. Telling Kendall to get back to her own corner as tempers look like they will explode.
Instead Alessandra rushes into the ring to herd Kendall back to her corner as her fighter is trash talking Mel. Sitting on her stool, Kendall tells Alessandra "I had to tell them that, you know it's true." Alessandra rolling her eyes as she doesn't want a war with the Lioness Club to break out over Kendall acting herself. It shows the frustration she has had over this year though.
While Joy is helped onto her stool. Melanie working to patch her up, the coach making sure to tell Joy she did a great job here. Joy thanks her but understandably she looks glum after losing such a big fight. Mel gives her a hug when she sees Joy looking down at the canvas with an embarrassed expression.
Once the referee is sorted and the announcer is in the ring. Both fighters come to the middle as Joy showing her grit to not hide from this result or Kendall. The winner getting her left hand raised as she is beaming.
"Next time I'll be the one getting my arm raised" says Joy to Kendall. Who turns looking furious and the referee has to get between them as words are exchanged. Kendall clearly hoped she'd beaten Joy into submission, instead Joy showing she won't back time from the former champion.
Melanie tells Joy better to leave now after making her point. Joy nods and follows her manager out the ring. The loss will sting for the Lioness camp but Joy just showed why she has become such a fearsome fighter. She isn't going to back down from anyone as she looks to move into title contention this year.
In the ring Alessandra has to cool off Kendall again, who is telling her she is sick of the disrespect she is getting. Maybe those three losses that started her year off still is on her mind. Kendall heads out the ring shaking her head as she walks to the back. You'd be hard pressed to tell she won this fight. |
