Two lightweights trying to make the critical move from the top twenty into the top ten - and maybe title contention? Joy Corrigan of Lioness is definitely a fighter on the come - only recent losses of note have been to names like Swift and Jenner and there is no shame in that. Sparkling 22-11 record and at 29 years old entering her fighting prime. Contrast with Palicki - who’s what the scribes call “on the wrong side of 40” and has taken a LOT of punishment over the course of almost 100 fights. Record stands at a respectable 51-46 but the record is not the whole story Three time lightweight champion … two time welterweight champion … recently held the Jaguar belt.

Glaring contrast in age favoring Corrigan as discussed … and size favoring Palciki. Joy a shortish lightweight at 5’8” while Adrianne just a hair under six feet even.

Corrigan cheeky at the press conference. “Look I’ll give Adrianne her props, don't let anyone say otherwise. She’s held the belts a couple of times … but lets also face a few facts, people, she’s a hair over .500 for her career, she’s also well past her ‘sell by’ date, and a lot of her rep is built on the fact that they hung a cutesy nickname on her, ok? Plain and simple, the so called ‘chin checker’ is GETTING checked by a LOT of mediocre fighters. Seriously, does anyone see me getting KO’d by LIma? I’ll show some respect - maybe carry her a few rounds - but this fight is gonna end with Adrianne flat on her back! Bank on it!”

Round 1: Fighters out of corner and Palciki looking to dictate with length, using long jab to keep Corrigan at distance. Corrigan dukes high, bobbing side to side, looking to work inside. After taking a couple of jabs high on forehead, Joy able to work in, pounds left right to the body then looks to come up top with left hook. Lanky actress snakes neck back away from jab and spanks body with hard left to the rib, drawing a grunt form the model as she tastes the power she made light of. JC stays inside, Adrianne clinches and it's like wrestling an octopus with those long arms. Referee disengages and Palciki spanks Corrigan with a three punch combination - left jab, left hook, straight right. The right hand is not the diamond-cutter but it snaps Corrigan head back. Big first round for former champion.

Round 2: Lioness corner counseling Joy “more movement - no stationary target!” Joy again at Palicki , who is slowly backpedaling, sticking out the jab to dictate terms. Sudden dip right and rush by Joy and she is in the big girl’s wheel house and pumping those arms. Left right left … working the body and then lifts tight right uppercut inside that punishes the sternum … and then she is out as Palicki late with the receipt. Trade of jabs goes Palcki way and model is content after to work perimeter, looking for rare openings against lanky opponent. Close round but the mid round punishment get Corrigan the nod.

Round 3: Palicki read the riot act by Scrubby McGee in corner and comes out more focused - the sharpness is palpable. Spearing smaller woman with the blond and using long jab to guide her around the ring and frustrate her. When Corrigan has had enough and looks to bumrush her tormentor, she is greeted by straight right hand that again lands high on head but still rattles her down to her toes. Third is a big comeback round for Adrianne.

Round 4-5: JC urged to use hand and foot speed and she does to good effect! Even giving up length, she is in, she is out … and giving the bigger girl odd angles. She will bang with left to body from off center and then when big girl pivots, she’s gone. Increasing frustration has Adrianne reaching - it’s all playing into Joy’s hands as she now uses precision counter punching. Palciki extending with long right lead, Corrigan backs out and then times the rush - flurries to head and body and get’s out. It’s befuddling the veteran and Corrigan takes the 4th and 5th rounds.

Round 6: Adrianne gets slap on cheek from McGee and growling advice, “Be patient … let her get brave, Addie … den counter the counter!” Round a mirror image of the 4th and 5th except Palciki more reluctant to open up, allowing Corrigan to take the lead and call the tune. Joy in and out … not really hurting the bigger girl but piling up points … then at the three minute mark, Palciki slips a right and counters with sweeping left hook that cracks Corrigan jaw and half corkscrews her. Suddenly, Joy on unsteady legs … eyes wide and blinking as hard eyed Palicki steps too. Straight right hand and THAT one was the Hammer or Thor. Corrigan blasted to her back where she lies there - half conscious and blinking … no effort or capacity to beat the count as the referee passes “ten”.

Winner by knockout in the sixth and still apparently STILL a little dangerous .. Adrianne “The Chin Checker” Palicki.
