Before: “Why did I challenge Emma? Because I believe I can learn more from difficult opponents. That’s why I fought Florence Pugh and Milly Bobbie Brown this year. I didn’t beat them, but I believe I have learned a great deal. I am hoping those lessons will help me when I fight Emma. After all, she did beat MBB not that long ago.”

“I am pleased you noticed,” Emma replies, “but I fear you are simply in for another hard lesson with me. I don’t claim to have the best record in the FCBA, but I think it is a just a fact was my 4-2 looks better than your 0-2. Not to mention I’ve got a good 3 inches on you. My dear, I will be too much for you,m but if you wish to try, I shall not deny you the opportunity to learn yet another painful lesson.”

“I didn’t realize you had such a talent for trash talking,” Brec growled.

“Years of experience,” Emma replied airily.

‘Yeah, you starting to get that ‘used up boxer’ look,” Brec sniped

Emma’s cheeks flushed: “You are going to regret talking to me like that. I have nothing further to say. I will do the rest of my talking in the ring!”

“Aw, I didn’t go and make you mad, did I? Couldn’t even take a little joking about your age? Gee, I am sorry, Emmy, dear!” Brec called after her, but Emma did not reply. Brec shook her head and turned to the audience: “Sorry folks, I guess it’s up to me say good night and hope you’ll join us both in the ring. I think this will be fun—just not for Emma.”

So it was that Brec Bassinger and Emma Watson did not meet again until the fight of their fight. They were in the ring. They had removed their robes and stood, hands on hips, looking each other over. Emma was in a black bikini with white gloves and boots (black laces). Hair in a messy ponytail. Brec in light blue bikini with dark blue gloves and boots (light blue laces), Brec’s battle braid. Nothing is said between them, but they seem to take a good look before turning their attention to the referee and his instructions. That done they make a quickj slap of the gloves and go to their corners. The bell rings…

R1: Brec Bassinger heads right for Emma Watson. Emma seems to taking a cooler approach as Brec comes swarming in on her. Brec not wild in her punching, she is trying to get at Emma’s head and face with well-aimed punches. Emma blocking some of these but enough hit that Emma’s cheekbones are getting lumpy. Emma ends her defensive tactics with a sudden smash to Brec’s mouth and a clip off her chin. Brec on her heels but quickly resumes attack. Emma responds and there is a nifty battle in close with body blows, but Brec finds way to get at Emma’s and make her hear bells ring. Emma still fighting back, but Brec outscoring her down the stretch to pull a close win of the round/

R2: Emma Watson takes the offensive as soon as the new round gets started. Now she is on charging and Brec is the one barraged by leather from all directions. Brec struggling hard to cope with blows to her head and body. She’s trying to duck and block, but too many Emma Watson punches getting through. Brec’s face getting lumped up and reddened by Emma’s strikes. Brec doggedly trying to respond with jabs, but these hardly to more than slow Emma down. Round ends with Brec dripping with sweat and breathing hard. Emma pretty sweaty too, but she’s got a satisfied smile on her face. The judges soon confirm that smile: Emma has won the round wide.

R3: Emma puts on the pressure once again and, once again, Brec has gloves full trying to cope. Emma is constantly on the move, bobbing and weaving as she pops in stingers from unexpected directions. Brec struggling to block at least some of the incoming, but she is getting worked over head and body. Her face is now swollen and discolored with blood oozing from a split lower lip. Still, Brec is not retreating very much, she is trying to match Emma’s movements, but too many of Emma’s punches continue to get through. Brec does manage to startle Emma late with a right that bloodies Emma’s nose and later a left that clearly hits hard to Emma’s jaw. It is just enough to match Emma’s sustained output and once again she wins round wide. Only bright spot for BB fans is that while Brec is left sweat drenched and breathing hard, she glares determinedly at Emma as she walks passed her smiling again.

R4: Emma again moves forward at speed towards the center of the ring. Brec is actually there first in a defense posture, but she snaps out of it and makes a lightning strike right/left on Emma’s jaw before Emma can get her own right going. Emma is blasted hard and goes floundering backwards as Brec pursues and pours in the follow up to Emma’s head and face. Suddenly, it is Emma struggling to cope with a torrent of leather, and she is getting badly lumped up to the face in a vengeful series of jabs. Emma finally gets her face covered but Brec now pounds Emma’s stomach until she is sent reeling backwards into the ropes all doubled over. Brec now flails away as Emma just tries to ride out the storm. Brec mostly hitting Emma to the flanks and side of the head, but she sustains it to the bell. Emma looking dazed by the reversal of fortune this round and Brec looks on with a big smile. Brec has won the round wide.

R5: The Vixens corner now working hard to patch up the battered Emma. Over in the PLP corner, Brec looks like she can’t wait for the action to begin. Corner people trying to steady their excited fighter, but the minute the bell sounds, Brec is out like a shot. Emma is prompt from her corner but she’s not racing like Brec. Which seems to give her time to judge Brec’s rapid approach. Then, as Brec tries a left feint while swinging with her right, Emma sees right through the trick and plants a big right hand SPLATT! in Brec’s face. Crowd gasps as Brec reels back, blood coming out her nose and a blank look on her face. However, some instinct, causes Brec to clap her gloves around her face as Emma comes closing in. This protects Brec’s face but she is slowly punched back towards the ropes. Brec is still hunched over as her bottom touches the strands and she maintains this position which keeps Emma from getting a clear punch at her torso. Then as Emma is crouching down, trying to get a punch into Brec’s upper body, Brec suddenly strikes with a right to the chin. Emma stumbles back, nearly going down, but keeping her feet. This allows Brec to scramble off the ropes and forces Emma to try to chase her, Brec proves elusive, though Emma still manages to get at her at times. The result is that Emma Watson makes a comeback and wins the round wide, but it is not as damaging to Brec Bassinger as it night have been. The bloody nose looks bad, but is soon cleaned up once Brec reaches her corner at the break.

R6: PLP corner now the one having to work hard to get Brec ready for another round. Bell sounds and both fighters seem to be taking a wary approach out of their corners, They meet at center ring and circle each other bobbing and weaving. They take turns darting in for a quick flurry before pulling back. They seem to be trying to judge what shape the other is in. Then Emma makes another move forward, but this time Brec moves to challenge her. Now there is fast series of head, jaw and chin shots. These grow in number and strength. They both are shuddering from the force of these blows, but hang in there and crowd waits to see who breaks first. Suddenly, Emma Watson stumbles back, her arms dropping to her sides, Brec Bassinger leaps forward one last uppercut to the chin. DOWN GOES EMMA WATSON! Brec stares down at Emma who is sprawled on her until referee orders her to the neutral corner. There Brec watches anxiously as the referee counts and Emma struggles to rise/ She rolls to her side and then pushes herself into a seated position. The referee’s count is rising and with a final effort she rises to break the count at “NINE!” Groan from the BB fans. Brec herself sighs and waits to be waved back in. Once this happens, Brec finds Emma has gone to a full-on turtle defense. Brec can only punch away at Emma’s flanks to the bell. Still, Brec does win the round wide and has the knockdown to her credit.

R7: VIXEN corner crew working hard once again to get Emma ready for another round. Emma out slowly at the bell. A wary Brec is slow to approach her. However, as soon as they are close, Emma moves to the offensive and crowd in on Brec with a new body attack. Brec seems surprised at this and it takes several punches to her ribs and abs before she starts fighting back. Once this happens, Brec and Emma return to familiar ground as they hammer away at each at point-blank range. Most of the blows are hooks into the abs and ribs, both area that have received a lot of punishment and that nows gets worse. As this battled of attrition rages on, both fighters are gasping, groaning ad gurgling as the fearful punishment builds up. Then Brec seems to set her feet and swings with more power into Emma’s ribs. Emma looks klike an electric shock has just gone through her and she recoils. Emma lashes back at Brec to block a follow-up, Brec moves to the side to launch a fresh attack, but runs out of time. This was another close round, but this time the winner is ruled to Brec Bassinger.

R8: VIXEN corner now has Emma’s ribs to worry about. They do what they can then send her back out at the bell. Emma looks like be moving stiffly as though feeling continued pain in her rib cage. Brec approaches with shark-like attention to a potentially wounded prey. While Brec is trying to inspect Emma’s bruised ribs, she has taken her eyes off Emma’s gloves. Suddenly Emma’s right hand exploded into Brec’s chin and the left crashes into her jaw. BREC BASSINGER SLUMPS TO THE CANVAS! Brec on her face, groaning as Emma hurries to the neutral corner and the referee steps in to begin his count. Brec pushes herself up with her arms and looks around in bewilderment. Then she struggles to get her stunned body to obey she manages to make it up at “EIGHT!” The referee checks her out and then waves Emma back in. Brec is not at all defensive as she advances to meet Emma. Emma starts moving around quickly, firing in her punches and then ducking away. Brec starts looking confused and this uncertainly brings another Emma Watson uppercut crashing into Brec’s chin. Brec reels back, but then swings wildly at the dancing Emma, but misses, Emma nails Brec to the jaw and she is sent stumbling away until she collides with the ropes. She tries to slide away, bracing herself againstthe top strand as Emma swoops in with right and lefts punches that have Brec’s head bouncing around., Alarmed ringsiders call from the fight to be stopped. The referee agrees and thrust his way between the fighters to get Brec out of there. Brec can be heard murmuring protrsts before she passes out. Emma raises both arms in triumph.

THE WINNER EMMA WATSON DEFEATS BREC BASSINGER TKO8!

After: “That was quite a fight,” admits Emma Watson, “the kid’s got nerve and a decent punch, but she’s not as ring smart as she ought to be. Perhaps this will be a good lesson for her. Meanwhile, I have myself another win and time to think about working to another titlke shot before the year is over.”

Brec Bassinger glum when she speaks to reports the next day: “I made a whole lot of mistakes in that fight. I could have won it if I had been a smarter. Well, I said I wanted to fight Emma to learn things and I guess I have. I can tell you one thing—I HATE being 0-3 this year. That has really got to stop!”

Brec Bassinger came close to beating veteran Emma Watson, but ‘close’ is not enough in the FCBA. More than once Brec got careless and paid the price. She did show a lot of talent and against the right opponents that 0-3 record can be much improved. Emma Watson showed she can beat a hot younger fighter and with a 5-2 record, she looks to be on track for an even better second half of the year.
