Kira Kosarin versus Natalie Alyn Lind

BEFORE:

It's blonde vs. brunette in this bantam battle which matches not only two of the top fighters in the division, but two of the hardest hitters as well. And, one of the girls is still smarting over a loss back in October of 2022 and is spoiling for revenge as a result. "She got LUCKY," says a hard-eyed Lind. "I was better than her that night. I was BEATING her that night. And, she got lucky. Well. Her luck is about to run OUT."

"The only one who got LUCKY that night," says Kira without a hint of a smile, "Is Natalie. Because I could have done a lot WORSE at the end of that fight. But, I have CLASS. Unlike HER. So, when I starch her again tonight? I'll just leave her laying in the middle of the ring. Again."

ROUND ONE:

Both fighters are known for their aggression, so it's kind of strange to see a lot of recon in the first. Then again, these two have fought before and both know about and respect the power the other can bring to bear, and that's what's leading to a bit more caution than we usually see from these two bantams. Instead of a lot of banging away, we're treated to some solid boxing as the fighters look to get the range and angles they want. Natalie's giving up range here, as most bantams do to Kira, but she's offsetting that with angles and movement that get her into punching range. For her part, Kosarin wants to enforce distance with the jab. It's good, two-way stuff throughout, and, at the bell it's close to the blonde, who grabs the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Kira begins to locate with that left, and it changes everything. She's stopping Natalie, holding the blonde, then following on with hard right hands. Lind working hard to slip or block that jab, but she's mostly unable to do it, and that leaves her exactly where she doesn't want to be, out on the end of the brunette's punches. As the round goes on, Kira gets stronger and stronger, putting punches together, forcing the blonde to cover up repeatedly. She even gets some body work done in spots. leaving Lind grumpy as she tries to tie up and slow down the offensive. At the bell, there's no doubt. It's Kosarin and it's wide and we're even at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Lind into a quarter crouch, keeping the guard high, working forward and past the left, getting to middle distances where she can get off in combination. Kira the one a bit frustrated in the early going, as she can't get the distance she wants. As the round goes on, however, she adjusts, moving the feet, giving a little ground in spots, finding ways to get her own offense going. Result is another good, two-way round like we saw in the first without a lot in it. Both fighters getting some work done, but neither able to enforce terms or take control. Result of the stanza in doubt until the final bell. When it rings, Natalie's taken it very narrowly and leads 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

More two-way stuff. Lind determined to get to middle distances where she can get off, and Kira just as determined to keep her at range. Result is a battle for terms similar to what we saw in the last round, with neither fighter able to impose her will on the other. It's good, competitive stuff with tons of movement and lots of action, and, in spots, some heavy leather being traded, with both fighters getting heads snapped back. There's also the occasional audible WHACK as meat is tenderized when one or the other of the ladies go body in a big way. When the bell rings, there's, again, not much in it, but Kosarin's taken the points and we're even again at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Pattern is set. Both fighters know what they want and are working to get it, and both are getting some, but not enough of it...BOOM! Right hand, KIRA and DOWN GOES NATALIE! Out of NOWHERE comes a BLISTERING straight right from the brunette and the blonde is blown to her back! Kosarin to a neutral corner. Natalie sitting up, sliding on her rump to the ropes, pulling herself to her feet, stricken, dazed. Ref thinking about it as he gives the blonde the mandatory, but, when he reaches "eight" he waves on Kira! Brunette BLAZING away at the blonde, HAMMERING her into the ropes and ABUSING that body, working ribs and tummy, then going upstairs. Lind ready to go, hanging on in a tight guard. Ref on a hair trigger...BELL! The bell rings with Nat the Brat still standing, but Kira's put together a HUGE round and leads 48-46 at the half.

ROUND SIX:

Kira looking to finish. She's walking the wobbly Nat down behind the left jab, dropping hard rights on her, punishing the blonde to both head and body. Lind grimly hanging on, giving ground, keeping the guard high, jabbing back in spots, but mostly taking a beating. Kosarin cleaning up very, very well, but she wants to finish here, and Lind is managing to deny her that. Final minute sees the blonde's legs begin to come back around. Natalie starts to fire back, and, while she's not giving as good as she gets, it's clear she's shaken the worst of it and is climbing back into the fight. At the bell, Kira's taken it wide, but missed a huge opportunity. She can, however, take solace in the cards, where she leads 58-55.

ROUND SEVEN:

Lind turning up the heat. Blonde is in a hole and she knows it, so she's coming forward aggressively, working inside to bang body, sitting down on punches, taking some chances while remaining sound. Kira banging with in spots, giving a little ground to get to range in others. It's a closely run thing...BOOM! Right hand, BRAT and Kira's RUMBLIN', STUMBLIN', FUMBLIN' around the ring! Kosarin in DEEP trouble and Lind POURS ON THE FIRE sending Kira wobbling back and then DROPPING the brunette with a right hand! Natalie to a neutral corner. Kira looking finished, but, somehow the brunette struggles to her feet at nine. Ref gives her the mandatory and HERE COMES NATALIE! Blonde throwing everything in the magazines at her rival, who's quickly rope bound and taking, but the clock is Kosarin's friend, as the final seconds tick away with Kira still on her feet and the ref still at bay. It's 10-8 for Natalie, but Kira's still alive and still ahead 66-65.

ROUND EIGHT:

Lind determined to finish this thing, just as determined as Kosarin was in the sixth. But, like the blonde before her, the brunette is making that plenty difficult. She's backing and covering and clinching when she can, playing for ti...BOOM! Right hook, NATALIE and DOWN GOES KIRA! A BRUTAL short hook from the blonde sends the brunette crashing to her right side. Lind to a neutral corner again. Kira looking wrecked...but SOMEHOW, Kosarin beats the count AGAIN. Ref once again thinking about it during the mandatory, but again he waves on the Brat! Natalie all OVER Kosarin, driving her to the ropes, digging belly, then mugging JUG before ROCKING her with a left hook and it's OVER! The ref has seen enough and it's OVER and your winner by TKO8 is Natalie Alyn Lind!

AFTER:

Lind puffy and defiant in the post fight. "I've been hearing all month about how she's the top contender for the belts, well. Who's top contender now? You're looking at her, and I'm ready to go get some gold!"
