Nice little style match up—and a lot of Bello money coming in late made this a close fight on paper, but Jessica Alba showed why, when she’s at her best, she can be something special.

Early on, it was anybody’s fight. In the first—Bello bulled into Alba’s ribcage and shook the young brunette with a fearsome left uppercut that had Jessica riding rope the rest of the round. Maria got in her whacks, thumping away on the midsection and mauling Jessica at the ropes—looked like a blonde upset early. Alba came right back in the second, getting her legs on track, spreading Maria out and some long, slinging right hands caught Bello coming forward late, putting solid blonde backside on “wobble”.

Having hurt one another, the two contestants settled into a rhythm, flip flopping rounds, taking turns on top and vying for control of the ring. Although Alba loves to get supple on the inside, clearly Bello was the better woman whenever heads and shoulders got to to rubbing. And although Maris is a classy veteran who knows her way around a ring—her older legs were no match for the lithe springing ambulation of Jessica on the outside. After 6, the fight was even, but on the stools: Maria was breathing hard, pressed by Alba’s constant movement and aggression. Jessica’s youth would become the decisive factor down the stretch.

In the seventh, Alan started catching Maria flush—long right hands, licking hooks and more importantly, after scoring, Jess could palm up and push the powerful blonde off—a tell tale sign that Maria was wearing down. Alba grew stronger, and greedier—slinging away with a third and fourth punch, muscling and bullying her girl, befuddling Maria by spinning her, pulling down on her head. Jessica slashed at the midriff this round, just to get some body work in—and the tight, constipated expression on Bello’s face told the tale. A weary, thoroughly beaten Maria Bello slumped on her stool betweens rounds, and Jessica made no mistake in the 8^th.

Jessica poured herself at Maria with slinging power shots, turning her body into slicks rights and lefts, catching Maria over and over on the face as he blonde stumbled forward, then spinning Bello head-long into the ropes. With Bello helpless and unresponsive—Jessica Alba let her fists go, lathering lanky for an impressive TKO8 stoppage.
