Before: What a difference a few fights make. Suddenly, nobody wants to fight Charlize Theron, as HBO suffers a rash of last minute cancellations fore Hu steps up to the plate. Kelly a tremendous talent, losing her only other title bout to Janet Jones last year. Dangerous fight for Theron, but she relishes the challenge—a rare silicon free battle between two mean fighting machines. Kelly in royal blue bikini, ponytail—Charlize in teal bikini top, navy speedo bottoms.

During R1-2: Kelly Hu steps smartly up to Charlize and draws the blonde into a fierce series of blistering exchanges with no feeling out period. Hu with a pretty habit of closing to touch Theron with her head, then stepping back to rip combinations at close range. Kelly uses a stammering jab to occupy Charlize’s guard, setting up a curling right uppercut ti the sternum that seems to drain the life out of Theron’s long legs early. Theron countering with left hooks, but the busier Asian bookends the exchanges to take a quick lead on points.

R3: Not like the body shots, Charlize circles this round, spearing Kelly with a hurtful jab outside and walking the overanxious Asian into short right hands. Shutout Charlize as she masterfully controls the round bell to bell.

R4: Charlize can bang to the body too and she doubles Hu up early with pounding rights and lefts to the ribcage. Stepping around the labouring brunette, Charlize works the short right uppercut in between Kelly’s gloves to smack that gorgeous face up and back in a blur of black ponytail..

R5: Charlize in control early, stepping around Kelly, patiently sticking the jab and dropping the right hand into the openings, but in the final minute, Hu retreating, bends at the waist and stuns Theron with a lopping left hook. Charlize reaching to clinch, is helpless as Hu shreds her with smooth lefts and rights to the bell, Both women absorbing tremendous punishment to this point, fighting with weary, expressionless faces as blows pound against bodies, or smack against faces.

R6: Kelly Hu senses weakness and immediately squares up on Theron, Charlize standing in behind a high guard does nothing as Hu explores the right breast with a short right uppercut. Kelly steps, turns the left uppercut loose against Theron’s left breast. Nothing from Theron, Kelly starts to open up, working her way up Charlize’s body with whistling lefts and rights, culminating in a smacking left/right across the chops that sends Theron dizzily to the ropes. Hu in with right hands, pounds back Charlize head and puts a tremble in Theron’s legs, but Charlize won’t go down. in  the final minute, with Kelly flailing away to finish, Theron digs a raking left hook to the body, short right hand to the jaw and Hu stumbles forward, past Theron to the ropes.; Charlize clinching, pushing the dazed Asian deep into the ropes, then stepping back to crack Kelly with a snapping left hook, Hu out on her feet, slumps against Charlize, who shoves her back with a shoulder and bashes her cheek with a crushing right hand to send Kelly to the deck. Sprawled on her back, Kelly HU takes the KO, and the worst beating of her career courtesy of the winne, and still champion, Charlize Theron.

After: both girls took such a great punch in this fight, it’s hard to describe how much damage was done, but each put forth such a high contact effort, that neither leaves the ring in good shape, Theron retains the title with another spectacular performance, while Kelly Hu drops her second title bid against another classy blonde.
