Before: Fishel passing up a winnable contest vs Milano to take on yet another monster boxer in Liu. Lucy the hottest thing in boxing right now, clicking on all cylinders, but maybe looking past Fishel after dismissive comments in pre-fight. “O just hope I get some rounds out of her,” says liu. Dani in grey cotton stretch shorts, teal sports bra, Liu in black sports bra, leopard print boy cut swimtrunk bottoms.

R1: Dani with good early pressure, shakes off a crashing Liu right hand to set up on Lucy’s chest. Liu crowded to the ropes—Dani twisting at the waist, getting her hips into clubbing one-twos to the waist has Lucy bunched up discomfort. Attempts by Lucy to spin away are aborted as Dani corrals her and pushes her back for more beating. Good opener for Fishel as she pounds out the points this round.

R2: Liu able to open up the ring this round, bouncing and using her legs exclusively, leaning away with hands down as Dani comes up short with reaching punches. Liu landing the odd single counter, then skipping away does enough to win this round—but Fishel coming forward, making the fight looks to be gaining confidence.

R3: Liu settling down, flat footed, using that snaking, supple upperbody movement to make Dani miss, then scorching Fishel with flashy left hooks, right hands from the hip. Dani getting caught flush now, but hanging in there, still jerking and pumping out short punches, but Liu is unhittable. Late in the round, Liu bends low, steps left underneath swishing Fishel punches, then straightens with a banging right/left on the chin—Dani stutter stepping, hurt for the first time in the bout. Liu bending low again, slips Fishel’s flailing receipts, then straighten s once again with a cracking right/left on the teeth—Fishel in total swoon, weaving over her hips, guard limp. Liu stepping back, stuffs a digging right hand into the stomach, leaving the fits there like a dagger and coming over with a twisting left hand on the cheek that snaps Dani’s head around. Fishel out on her feet, Liu’s momentum carries her into Dani and sends her toppling to the canvas, Fishel coming to a stop on her back, hands quiet at her sides as her eyelashes flutter, mouthing little unconscious mutterings as Liu looks on KO3 Lucy.

After: Liu efficient as ever—knockout has pundits wondering whether Dani’s punishing schedule is beginning to wear her down. Constantly fighting the best of the best, driven by internal TE rivalries to make rash decisions, competing with her own glorious past—Dani just not herself offensively tonight, and going out like a lamb under Liu’s first concerted attack has many observers wondering if the little dynamo is shot.
