Before: With Theron proving supreme in the minds of most boxing insiders over Nolin, Shania/Dani stands as maybe the bitterest rivalry remaining in all the sport. A draw last time out left a bad taste in the mouths of all concerned, and each is eager to separate herself from the hated counterpart. Dani teal sports bra, prey stretch cotton shorts, Shania in black sports bra, red high cut aerobics shorts. Icy stare down between the girls as they inch nose to nose during instructions/
During R1: Dani out with a very strong start, nailing Shania a walk-away hook on the teeth and spilling the surprised singer onto the ropes. Fishel in fast, hair whipping about her face as her compact torso rolls into the punching. Twain covering up , gives up her ribs as Dani feast, just biting her fists into Shania’s body and reveling in the muted screams. Twain can’t take it and tries to hop along the ropes, but is caught leaning away by a lunging hook on the teeth—Twain’s knees buckle and she careens the rest of the way to the waiting turnbuckle. Fishel stomping after her, tackles a shellshocked Shania onto the padding, squirming against the brunette to jam home tight lefts and rights, before pulling out and hooking in earnest. Feet wide, Dani begins torquing the hook, pounding Shania to the ribs, then across the teeth, sending the mouthpiece flying as Twain starts to swoon. Shania’s legs stiffen. She’s out on her feet and Dani explodes out of her crouch, landing the final hook to send twain’s head back with a sickening crack/ Shania folds to a seat on the ropes as the ref jumps in—a jubilant Dani Fishel jumps for joy at the startling KO1 victory.
After: Twain’s fragile chin betrays her as Dani gets the quick jump and piles on before Shania’s skills can become a factor. Heartbreaking loss for twain, who once could have counted on an entire locker-room of well wishing TE members, is now left alone with her tears while those same girls cheer her destruction not two doors down. How ironic.
