BEFORE: "Gotta get 'er done," Hayden says briskly in prefight. "Song's a threat, and she needs to be dealt with. I know I'm better - but she's taken me in the past: I need to be sharp when we tangle, just to make sure i'm bringing all my weapons to bear!" Brenda fresh, upbeat: beaten by Scerbo last time out, Brenda knows she can erase that by scalping Panny. "Hayden's made for me," Brenda assures at podium, "I know I'm going to shine against her. The fact is, she's scared of me - I know she hates that I'm quicker, cuter, and harder hitting, and she really doesn't know what to do about all that. Doesn't matter: she can try all her little tricks, but I'm still giving her an all expenses paid trip to Canvasland!" Song in black push up/hipster fit leopard print trunks; black shoes; small black punchers mittens; hair in loose, bouncy curls. Hayden in white sport bra/scarlet cheerleader's spanky trunks; white shoes/white socks rolled down; small white punchers mittens. Scowling staredown, girls nose to nose...Brenda suddenly clicking her teeth shut in a little bite, making Hayden blink, spooking the ref.
During R1,2: The speed of Song: Panny getting outfoxed all around the ring. Bren very loose, springy, hands down around her waist: she's bopping in and out, feinting, shimmying her shoulders, then hitting Hayden with rising circus punches from either hand, off either foot. Panny scowling, taking it tuff body and head: she's not hurt, but she's startled - constantly forced to regroup, reassess. Highlight moments for Brenda: leaning back on her hips from a Panny right...pivoting left around her planted left heel while fitting Hayden's chin for a wicked left uppercut - sending Panny sputtering. Feint, leap-in right hand (ducked by Hayden) - Song in close, shifting to her right to turn Hayden's left flank while Panny's crouched low in earmuff...Hayden angry, swinging a right as she turning to get square...Song ducking under, shifting left to turn Hayden's right flank, while cuffing the heel of right hand against Panny's tummy. Song making Hayden miss with bounding leaps, sweet pivots, deep crouches - compounding the acrobatics with timely tugging of Hayden's top or bottoms. Panny frustrated, touched up: Song breezing, grinning through 2.
R3: Hayden frowning, concentrating, adjusting. She's bouncing more, loosening up: she'll bounce back from Brenda's pounce, opening gaps, then nip back at Song before Bren's fully ready. She'll spit stubby, stiff jabs - keeping Bren defensive, disrupting Brenda's timing. Brisk, abrupt potshotting from both - Brenda bringing punches up from her hips; Hayden mixing in straight jabs/right hands with tart hooks off a bobbing step-in. Punishment accrues to Brenda: Hayden landing potshotting singles, bouncing her mitts off Brenda's torso. Frustration pendulum swings to Song as Panny's legs answer Brenda's in a springy chessmatch through 3.
R4: Same again - Hayden very cagey here - not trying to match Brenda's quicks, just influencing her timing her. The little half-step back just as Brenda pounces: that's causing Song to come up short and eat deft counters. Stubby jabs doubled or tripled up chase Song out of her stance, or catch her as she's bouncing in...either way she's disorganized. Hayden patient with her punching, concentrating on Song's body: Panny bouncing a conservative hook off Song's tummy, and thumping right hands off her left flank. Song unhurt, but vexed: Hayden's neutralizing a lot of Brenda's game, leaving Song just the showboating bits when she's well outside.
R5: Hayden feints, takes a little half step back; Song pounces into the gap, eats a TORRID right hand to jaw. Song's knee deep-bend: she's stricken, stepping in fence-post holes. Hayden rapidly at Brenda - ripping short right hands up top against the guard, then BOUNCING that left hand off taut brown tummy. Poor Brenda! Song sobbing out into her palms, bunching up hurt: Hayden given free access to that right flank, hooking viciously in behind right elbow. Song eventually clinches, but she's grimacing mouth-on-shoulder in the grasp: Hayden walks her to ropes, bumps on her until ref's break. Song distressed, walking to her right: Hayden walking her down, hooking her chest, then burrowing in, forcing the action inside. Brenda brave, pushing her left shoulder into Hayden's chest and competing: furious, compact flyweight hup-hup back and forth as girls roust offending tummies. Bitter trade, but it's Brenda's butt forced into ropes - Hayden grunting louder and louder as she gets her legs and buns into vicious right hands to the body. Song crippled at the bell, reaching round Hayden's waist, slipping thumbs inside Panny's waistband to pull her close.
R6: Song's a punished cutey: flat footed, scowling, obviously labouring. Hayden stepping-to, knocking her jab into gloves and hairline: she's finding Brenda, forcing exchanges. Song baring teeth, fighting Hayden all around the ring: compact li'l sluggers always shouldering each other, nudging and bumping in between back and forth bursts. Chugging non-stop hup-hup - both fighters looking to dig up all the tummy they can find. Crowd roaring as girls lay heads on another's shoulders, stepping each other around, and putting in honest work: rival torsos tattooed something awful in the exchanges. Bell: Hayden pumped, cheeks flushed as she shouts "HAH!" in Brenda's face. Song bytchy, pushing Hayden to bring ref in.
R7: Back into the trenches: Panny's got Song flat footed and slugging. Good tactics, but Song not entirely toothless: she mixes in short, clipping right uppercuts off the body to start edging Hayden out of the exchanges. Panettiere taking her first backward steps: Song walking her down with a wide where-you-going? hook, then laying-in left shoulder on chest. Bump n' dig, bump n dig - all around the ring: Song outhustles Panny, finally getting the better of bruising trade. Both girls getting ice rub-downs against their fronts: chests and tummies bright pink from all the digging.
R8: Panny treats Bren to a dose of her own medicine as Song looks to lay in - Hayden bopping outside, getting springy. Hayd flashing wide, sidearm right hands to Brenda's flank/hip: small glove bouncing loud off meat, then Hayden's hopping away. Brenda pouting, pursuing, but stiffening up: she's not the same little bounder who started the fight. Hayden circling to her right, smiling: she's darting in and out, spooking Bren with feints, then lighting her up. Final minute, with Brenda hunching forward behind her mitts...Panny dips in close (weight on left leg) to pump a pair of tuff left uppercut in between elbows, neatly taking Brenda in her solar plexus. Bleat of pain, Brenda Song: she's helpless, face-in-gloves, paralyzed by perfectly placed body shots. Brenda already wilting down when Hayden helps her on her way with an extra wide right hand in the side: Song crying out as right knee touches down. Hayden grinning down with unabashed glee: Song sputtering/whimpering as she takes her 8.
R9: Bitter retreat for Song: Hayden applying relentless pressure. Brenda grimacing, absorbing body shots now and disengaging rather than looking to swap underneath: Hayden's won the war inside. Panny frisky, legs still relatively fresh: Brenda flat footed, walking around, cringing. Round consists of Hayden pouncing in, driving Song to ropes, outworking her until Brenda can clinch, or spin out. Song mouth breathing, really wearing down: she's only looking to survive, not answer.
R10: Song saved up last round, now she spends, shocking Panny as Hayden's trying to impose will. Vicious hooks and right hands inside - both girls dipping side to side and clippin away tidy: Hayden gets her chin toggled and she's wobbly butt! Song with a quick left-hand tug of Hayden's trunks pulls her forward, spins her 'round, then pushes her back into ropes: Hayden sputtering, covering up as Brenda unleashes. Pelting of Hayden's head sits her in ropes - she's got her hands up in earmuff, riding out shots. Song snarling, dips the left shoulder, hooks trunks: Hayden sobbing out, bunching up in crossed-arm. Brenda seething, sensing blood: she swabs viciously at Hayden's lower back, sweeping the kidney's back and forth as crowd roars. Hayden gritting her teeth, sponging it up: curvy little legs hold her up as Brenda tries - and fails - to foul her out of there. Bell: Brenda still at that back - ref pulls her off for the decision. UD10 Hayden Panettiere: Hayden grimacing as her hand is raised, back still sore; lumped up Song crossing her arms in disgust.
During: "Putting Brenda down was job 1," an achy, but jubilant Hayden P says during in-ring postfight. "I had to beat her so I could move..." ROLLING CHOP BLOCK FROM BEHIND, BRENDA SONG! Hayden dropped to her back, clutching left knee, wailing as seething Brenda gets to her feet. OH NO! VANESSA HUDGENS! Hudgie pours in (short purple dress with ruffles, tan UGG boots) and STARTS STOMPING! Hayden stunned, crying, sitting up with legs out in V before her as Hudgens starts putting boots to that right thigh. Song in from behind, stamping on her left foot so she can stomp Hayden in the withers (ie: between the shoulder blades)with the right. Poor Hayden bleating, face titling up, wrists crossed at her chest. OH they're just at Hayden with stomps, finally pounding her into a fetal ball on her left side. Outside the ring, arena security has rounded up and secured Foxfire officials and fighters to prevent widening panic (in days to follow, none of the security dupes will be able to say just who exactly gave them their radio instructions - identifying only a girl's voice. Hmm.) Hayden stomped back to the stone age, then left blubbering as Song and Hudgens slide out of the ring. Heinous conduct rightly brings down the full force of FCBA law upon the guilty heads: monster fines, stern lectures assessed.
