Before: Neve being carefully matched—she’s a good solid brunette who can make some noise if she steers around her limitations. Applegate making the transition from free swinging brawler to a safer, more conservative style, mindful that her violent career has lost a step, but more than confident about this match. Ring set on the set in “Jesse’s” bar—cast and crew in attendance. Neve in light blue sports bra, grey cotton mid thigh stretch shorts, white ankle socks, Christina in red sports bra, white adidas terrycloth trunks, white ankle socks, ponytail.

R1: Similar looks for both women—dukes up, meeting bat center ring, grinding foreheads and shoulders and chugging short digs into one another’s body. Good professional pace early, neither girl pressing, just rotating and getting off, then hunkering down to take in turn. With seconds left in the round, Applegate times a nifty left uppercut inside Neve’s left hook to provide the drama in the round, spilling Campbell wide eyed the length of the ring to careen into the ropes—crashing blow stands in stark contrast to the workmanlike feel of the rest of the round.

R2: Neve still a little groggy from Applegate’s uppercut doesn’t get off as well this round as Christina asserts herself. Shoulder to shoulder, Applegate nudging her brunette around, helping herself to Neve’s gut with thwacking left hands and clouting at that sweet face with chopping overhand rights. Campbell answering back in spurts, but she’s outworked and a little gunshy.

R3: Back at center ring, Neve takes the initiative, trading swats to the tummy, but coming up the middle with little right uppercuts to jerk Applegate’s head up. Christina stepping with Neve, but not getting off and midway through the round, Neve freezes Chris with a pair of short uppercuts on the lip, then sets down on a thudding hook behind the elbow to put Chris on her heels with a groan. Round finishes up with Neve working Applegate over the ropes—blonde just seated, covering up and taking as the brunette works her sides.

R4: Applegate answers back, shrugging off the pain, going cheek to cheek and the girls lay in for almost a minute trading little right uppercuts inside. By the midway point, Neve goes wobbly butt and tries to disengage, but she’s clocked a hard left hook on the teeth that turns her sideways and sends her numbly to the ropes, Neve in trouble in the last minute, guard weak, Applegate able to set up and pour on lefts and rights to the body and head, clubbing Neve nearly to one knee at the bell.

R5: Neve won’t go quietly—fighting hurt she guts it out, and once again digs for turf as the girls grind it out on the inside. Neve putting lefts and rights together beneath Christina’s elbows, pushes the blonde to the perimeter of the ring and works her to all 4 corner as Applegate just grimaces and takes, fine shut out round for Neve has Applegate shaken mentally at the bell.

R6: Girls just walk toward one another and settle into sweaty proximity, mouth on shoulder, hands digging away between hips, occasionally swiping up at breasts or chins in close action. Applegate emerges stronger down the stretch, walking her back and Campbell woozily stops punching as Christina cups the brunette’s elbows, then digs into her sides to the bell out of the clinch.

R7: Both girls set down on punches this round, drawing claps and hoots from the small audience as whacking blows exchange to the body, Both girls clenching their teeth, stepping in with hooks to the stomach, trying to push the other back and keep their weight forward. It’s Campbell eking out a close round late as Chris shuts down, hanging on to the bell while Neve keeps working.

R8: Shutout Neve Campbell as finally one girl emerges dominant. She muscles a slack jawed, sleepy eyed Applegate to the ropes, putting the weight on, digging to the gut, and stepping to the right side to try that quick right uppercut from an angle, Chris can’t get her back off the ropes, and she reaches around Neve’s sweaty back to clinch, often getting cudgeled as she holds the brunette too lightly. Applegate swooning at the bell, looks ready to go.

R9: Neve picking up where she left off, walking her girl to the ropes, reefing to the gut with both hands, and falling off to the right to fit that clipping uppercut in. Applegate just taking now, eyes unfocused, ineffectually clinching, and midway through the round, Neve lands half a dozen chopping blows to the hips, steps to the side, kisses the uppercut up the side of Applegate’s wide open face and the blonde sinks wearily to all fours at the ropes. Neve walking wearily away as Chris can’t get off her knees—KO9 Neve Campbell.

After: Neve used Christina up in battle that was tied going into the final round. Campbell showed durability in taking Applegate’s power and broke Christina’s will over the long haul with a no-frills, but effective inside game.
