Before: “year of the New Model” continues as Eva Longoria horns in on clear Vanessa Marcil territory, offering the same slender lines, daytime pedigree, and exotic brunette allure. Marcil welcomes the challenge. “People said the same thing when I was in soaps—that Eva was the ‘Next Vanessa Marcil’. AS IF! She’s like a Tijuana Rolex: cheap knock off, no guts.” Eva a feisty Mexican American, best known for creative use of her knees in celebrity catfights, insists she can box too. “Vanessa wanted no part of me on the daytime circuit, but you can’t run forever. I’ve got little Ms. Marcil right where I want her. It’s definitely time to show her what coming second in a boxing match is all about.” Nervous HMK executives keeping toy-tigers on a short leash—“Go ahead and sell the fight, but don’t say anything you’ll regret later,” seems to be the guidance.
Marcil in black bikini, ring connections—Eva in black bra and panties, saucy punching ponytail—small, tight black gloves both vixens.
During R1: Longoria showing off sleek moves, staying to the perimeter, stepping smartly, circling, sliding her front foot on occasion—very classy. Marcil not impressed—she’s walking to her girl, dukes at her chest and bending into wallop. Not a lot of contact—Eva tapping out the jab. Vanessa swinging hard and missing, but Marcil the clear aggressor. Van lands a couple of swinging rights upside the head that make her the boss—Eva taking good shot, using her legs to insure lack of follow up.
R2: Eva heats up, lets hands go: Marcil eats classy Latina leather. Longoria spiffy with the jab, dancing to spots, chipping away with it, worrying Marcil’s eye, shining up that sexy face 3 and 4 touches while turning clockwise. Longoria sliding back from Marcil rushes, walking Vanessa in, and raking her over with slender-limbed slash. Multiple cat-scratch hooks up top, batting Vanessa into a covered up stoop. Jagged right uppercuts dug hard to the ribs, curled up between the gloves, Vanessa leans forward: gets her back tanned. Vanessa punches with: Longoria buries Van with shoe-shining, chiseling, tic-toe bursts to fight her way back outside. Remarkable stuff—Vanessa polished like a trophy this round, haunted by subtle little Longoria smile at the bell.
R3: Eva lights up Vanessa Marcil. Vanessa backing down now, keeping her mitts up—she’s a confused beauty, dismayed by the sheer volume and tenacity of her limber-limbed foe. Eva putting together lefts and rights on Marcil’s face, stunning her, then cashing her in a slinging right hand on the chin, or sweet-swinging hook on the cheek. Marcil rigid as she’s hit, just posing and staring for the punches—Eva able to go to the body late in the round, stiffening Marcil with bristling combinations, tight gloves tacky on Vanessa’s taut flesh. Vanessa busting up, staggered at several points—no one punch really doing it, just a savage accumulation.
R4: Marcil comes out a warrior—stalking to Eva and winging flyweight haymakers. Longoria showing cute upperbody moves—elbows in, she eases inside the wide strokes, turns her shoulder, bends at the waist, happy to make Vanessa miss. Marcil the boss, making the fight, but Eva very composed, pivoting under Vanessa’s looping power, touching her the odd jab, hooking sternum with single, well placed shots. Down the stretch, series if Marcil swings goes unrewarded—Longoria uncoils and slaps Vanessa’s cheek a clawing hook, gets it again, shifts her hips and puts a right hand on Vanessa’s mouth—MARCIL TAKES A~SEAT! Groggy shock on little veteran’s face—eyes half closed, mouth opened—Vanessa struggles up off the canvas as Eva gloats at the sight. LONGORIA UNLEASHES! Eva steps-to and tears at Vanessa with whip-limbed hatred—swiping, slashing lefts and rights tearing across ribs, smashing against lips, ricocheting off temples. It’s all too much—battered Marcil droops, turns and sinks to all fours as a grinning Longoria is pushed back. KO4 beatdown—Eva Longoria.
After: Another polished newcomer—whip-fit Longoria showing Ricardo Lopez-like head movement, jabs and slinging power—she overwhelms Vanessa in four sizzling heats. Marcil all busted up and weepy—horrifying outcome for her—she really did not look up to the challenge of Longoria tonight and both girls know it. After some prodding, Longoria purses her lips, crosses the mat and bows to Vanessa, showing respect—Vanessa returns the bow, slightly deeper in recognition of Eva’s excellence tonight. (Simguy note: I’m going to want to see this match up again at some point—vbut I’ll ask next time).
