For years Jane Krakowski’s been the bridge between the glamour girls in the FCBA and the girls-next-door. She’s been a gatekeeper and a contender, a solid blonde veteran, and someone who will expose pretenders if they’re not ready, Lauren Graham’s challenge of Krakowski was a calculated risk: Lauren looking to hype herself as the “real woman” alternative to all the silicone bubble-heads of the sport, pretty much had to establish herself against Krakowski. In 8 one-sided rounds of patient big-girl boxing, Lauren may have taken more from Jane than any other woman to date,

At 5’9, Graham used her height and good physique to impose herself from the outset, Krakowski recognizing the geometry of the bout fought small, crouching over her crossed arms and accepting the role of counterpuncher. Many a woman has fallen prey to Krakowski out of this posture, but Lauren stayed disciplined, used a heavy jab and banging combinations body and head, kept her distance—Jane could make the taller brunette miss, but wasn’t eager about issuing receipts. With Jane fighting to survive, Lauren carried the rounds, occasionally stinging Krakowski, but never taking the risk to get her out of there. Everything changed in the 8^th and final round.

It all started with Jane, stopping and jabbing to the body, sliding to her left, finally got Lauren reaching on a long right hand., Krakowski rolled underneath, popped up with a jagged counterhook and Graham found herself on her back with a dented chin. It was the punch Jane had been waiting for all night, and she SURGED in to finish wounded prey, badly underestimating the backbone of her opponent.. In a furious clash of pounding rights and lefts, Lauren jammed home straight, crunching blows to the face of her opponent and sprawled Krakowski out cold on her back, bringing Jane’s rally to a shuddering halt. Tallied up, Lauren had taken 8 of 8 rounds against a tough opponent and stopped the crafty veteran inside the distance—anyone who saw Jane Krakowski sitting numb and used on her stool had to wonder iof the solid blonde were on her way to palookaville with this beating.
