Famke’s never secured the limelight she thought she might have following her epic contests with Peta Wilson. Dropping down a weight class, the rangy Belgian looked at Debbe D as the kind of exciting free-swinger who could recreate the ol’ Janssen/Wilson magic, and for 5 blazing minutes, it looked almost as though the plan had worked.

Debbe did her part, wading out and taking the first with robust, wide lefts and rights, swinging strong to the ribs then clocking chin, taking advantage of Famke’s upright stance. But Janssen’s plan was sound: spread Debbe out with the jab, make hjer come forward and drive to her chin with those raw-boned right hands, Even as Dunning was backing Famke up and outworking her early—the seeds of Janssen’s success were being laid as she accessed Double D’s jaw with clean, pulverizing connects, In the second, it was more of the same, but with each pounding blast to the chin, it became apparent that Debbe wouldn’t be playing the part of Peta tonight. Famke can really sock if you cooperate and Dunning simply gave up her jaw in a series of disastrous head-on assaults, running straight onto that clanging Janssen right. Debbe fell apart in stage, staggering and wobbling forward, trying to wing for a miracle, but it was not to be. A final shattering right on the teeth dropped Debbe in a heap for good at the midway point of the second.
