SCOUTING ON RADHA MITCHELL: Sleek, sporty, slick, fit - typical Aussie triathelete chick. Good Pac Rim experience...holds recent wins over Naomi Watts...has sparred stateside with Zoe Saldana and Kate Beckinsale (reportedly dismissed from Beckinsale's camp for undisclosed reasons).

PREFIGHT DEETS: Cruz pulls a diva tantrum - has a sand-ring replaced with regulation ring set up outdoors. Suits boxer/puncher Radha just fine - she makes no attempt to interferere.

During R1: Crisp n' slick, just the way Pene wants it...trouble is, Radha's boxing her to a standstill. Girls stitching cruel jabs to pretty faces, then limber-legging left - each taking turns spooking the other back. Down the stretch, Mitchell batting away to flanks in close: blonde elbows in - small mitts sounding out PIK! PAK! PEK! PEK! as they traverse up-torso...Pene cashed in to chin, staggers backwards eyes wide at bell.

R2: Radha pounces - knows she rung Pene's bell late last round, anxious to exploit the damage. Stitching jab finds Pene's beautiful face, knocking it: crisp right crosses bounce Pene's head, driving her to ropes. Follow up lather to ribs - Radha deploying with elbows in close to her body - hands almost at gull wing as she chews up Spanish torso chup-chup-chup. Cruz gasping, scoured along ropes: she's rocked, wobbly butt midway through, forced to hang on. Mitchell sustains pressure - using legs to disengage, then turn Pene's left flank: blonde attacking via rangy left uppercuts to sternum; choppy right hands to chin late.

R3: Cagey boxing midring: Pene stabilizing, slowing tempo, working behind her jab. Trouble is...Radha just as patient, just as nimble. Girls dart in and out, sparking jabs off breasts and cheekbones, brows and tummies - trying to break the other down. 2 minutes of chess - Pene can't make Radha blink: Mitchell uptempos late, pouring in off her jab and lathering the Cruz ribcage! Furious, scalding stuff - Radha's face pinched tight as she unleashes that batting, elbows-in ratatat...Cruz crying out, lashed to ropes and overwhelmed in dropping her third straight heat.

R4: One-two Radha Mitchell - blonde stunner pursing her lips as she twists into the right cross, tossing Pene's head aside - dark curls flying. Cruz jerked 180, sent face first to ropes: she desperately hurt, forming peek-a-boo when she turns around. Radha cold-blooded on approach - eyes narrowed: she takes the time to jab tummy/head before leaning in to whip a palm-down right high to Pene's left ear. Cue beatdown: Radha setting a miler's pace - hup-hup to the ribs; clip-clip to the chin; dig that hook behind the elbow; push Pene off by her shoulders and jab her snout. Cruz demoralized - sliding from spot to spot before she's pinned down and worked over fresh. Small white gloves sounding almost chipper against Pene's sporty Mediterranean chassis.

R5: Another business-as-usual shutout, Radha Mitchell. Mitchell scowling throughout, eyes serious, lips either tight or pursed when she's getting off. Pene encircled - Radha's legs command midring, turning Cruz, keeping her out at the end of blonde jab. Poke piling up on Pene's face - she's puffy under both eyes - constantly getting knocked and scuffed. Radha taking the round to touch up her rival's face - occasionally leaning in to strap the body whenever Cruz folds forward behind her mitts. Bell: Spanish corner in shock, jabbering a mile a minute as poor Pene's on the verge of panic.

R6: Some compete from Pene - but she's badly worn down beauty - busting up under a foreign sun; steadily outclassed by a fearsome young talent. Radha relentless, but calculating - circling Pene, feinting her, happy to jab her body when Cruz won't commit, then lathering furiously whenever Pene tries to mix it up. Pene trying to work behind her jab - long thought to be the best in Europe: it's coming in second against Mitchell's stiff, educated poke. Damage report through 6: Radha a little shiny-faced; Pene busting up, disheveled, thoroughly confused.

R7: Pene launches all out assault: body blasts followed up by walloping bites at chin. RADHA'S ROCKED! Mitchell scoured to ropes, beaten into stunned compliance: she's helpless behind her mitts, cringing forward butt-in-ropes as Pene DIGS both hands to ribs. Minute mark - everything changes: Radha punches-with off the ropes, tags Pene crisp left/rights in tandem and CRUZ goes wobbly-butt. Radha baring fangs - forward march: she's into Pene's breadbasket with walk-in, swinging rights and lefts, driving Cruz to ropes. Crowd in hysterics...final minute sees both women open-mouthed, glassy eyed, fighting on pride...and Mitchell wants it more! Pene eats a drilling series of straight lefts and rights threaded through her guard: blonde's back sinewy as she pours in leather to gobble up desperate points. Bell: first sign of emotion from Radha as she bellows, pumps fist - she's just stolen Pene's best round out from under her to make it 7 straight!

R8: Desperation punching from Pene: just one jab, then she's committing to body, whirling both fists in tight arcs to ribs/tummy. Radha forced to disengage, circle: even nimble Pene has trouble cutting off the ring when Mitchell won't stand. Radha cautious - drawing Pene out, letting her punch, but not letting her land at will: blonde willing to trade points to get Pene's reserves into the fight.

R9: Pene gassed: Mitchell pounces...searing series of straight, rapid left/rights drills through Spanish defences, pummeling Pene to ropes. Scouring hooks to body follow: Radha's limbs tense, sinewy as she claws at Pene's vitals. Buggywhip right hands thump off Pene's left flank, buckling her knees: blonde overwhelming brunette body with cold-blooded ferocity. Cruz crippled, whining/bleating, but refusing to go down: pretty little Spaniard showing pride amidst the punishment.

R10: Banged up, worn down Pene Cruz flat footed off her stool: she's fighting on heart as Radha steps lightly-to. All Mitchell - circling easy-left; keeping the jab on Pene body/head, spreading her out. Cruz' eyes punched to slits at this point, magnificent features scuffed: Radha's just touching up that face to make a point now. Pene swinging left/right to body, then trying to really set a hook to chin: Radha denying the pattern with footwork, generally able to quickly renegotiate and reassume ring-command. Bell: Mitchell lifts mitts, makes icy eye contact: she's just ripped Penelope Cruz for a 9 rounds to 1 decision.

After: Crowd singing soccer style in the bleachers...blonde mob jumping atop Radha to celebrate her complete domination over Cruz: it's a banner day for Australian boxing. Cruz weeping, battered...outfought, outboxed and badly taxed in another draining 10 round affair. Spaniards in disarray...Pene's committed to 2 more bouts, but she's already fought well over the number of rounds she'd planned to, to this point. Genre vet Melissa George champing at the bit to get at reeling Oscar winner while the getting's good.
