Before: Pratt fighting on the comic-con circuit, hasn’t been on the FCBA radar for a while, but chance to knock off of the “Smallville Strongwoman” an important chance to shine. “It’s a big opportunity,” Vicki says in prefight. “I’ve been fighting girls like Erica Cerra and Rachel Luttrell at the cons—and those are a couple of tuffies, so I feel like I’m well prepared to shock Erica D.” Durance never one to shy away from rugged comp: she realizes Pratt’s body is no joke. “Vicki’s a well conditioned athlete first, and an actress second,” says Erica. “That makes her exceedingly dangerous, regardless of her age and rapiud;y dwindling skills.” SMEK! Erica in Smallville bikini #1 (crimson top/navy bottoms with crimson belt), red gloves; ponytail, frisky curls framing face. Pratt in black bikini top, leopard print bikini bottoms; black gloves.
During R1: Smart boxing from Durance—showing respect, but being the aggressor behind a stiff jab. Pratt’s left hand low—face and left breast available for poke as Erica circles stamps away for points.
R2: Pratt more constructive—spitting her jab to close, throwing a hard right hand at Erica’s body. Spiteful trade in hooks spurns both racks; follow up right hands miss in high-risk slugging midring. Durance unwilling to back out—sticking around on front foot to hook Pratt’s stomach: Vicki absorbing, answering with hooks/right hands to head in rapid succession. Close hard hitting round—neither lass hurt despite good solid contact—tough to score.
R3: Erica spread Vicki out with the jab—circling clockwise, using little step-outs to increase distance against Vicki’s pounce. Pratt stymied, turning, crouching, encroaching, but not getting off much as Erica manages the round.
R4: Shoulder to shoulder slugging as Durance once again gives up the length advantage to put some mileage on Pratt. Vicki equal to the task—in there scrubbing tight right uppercuts/left hooks in tandem. Girls pushing at each other, getting off compact—Erica’s notion of grinding Vicki turns into a crowd-pleasing, non-stop slugfest at close quarters.
R5: Erica works behind the jab—she’s obviously controlling the ring when she extends distance and shows Pratt some movement. Vicki unhurt in these moments, but busting up some and not doing anything offensively. Durance pockets easy points by controlling the quiet moments of the fight with superior ring generalship.
R6: Erica stays with the jab—putting pressure to gamble or simply be outpointed. Leads to some spirited rushes—Pratt trying to pounce straight in, daring Erica’s straight right and cruel check-hook off the right foot. Durance countering the crap out of Pratt in this heat—pin-pricking with the jab to coax Vicki into lunging, then cleaning her up. Pratt’s chin shows its quality: she’s getting tagged with “A” Durance righty hand, and Erica’s deploying a whippy left hook with palm-down delivery up and down Pratt’s right side.
R9: Erica stepping in off the jab now, rifling right hands up the middle, cleaning up hook/uppercuts in rising arcs from Vicki’s right hip to her left shoulder. Pratt catching hard licks now, backing up: she’s only average on her heels—a confused beauty. Pratt lifting her hands, crossing her wrists as she backpedals: Erica hooking around this panic-guard, or leaning in to pound shafting right hands against the firm wall of Pratt’s abs, Vicki letting Erica extend on punches and really pound at her: Pratt takes it, but she’s not the same girl who started the fight as she wanders back in a stupor to her stool.
R10: Erica rangy, strong, fit, mobile—she pours it all at wilting Vicki, pressing Pratt to the perimeter. Erica in wide stance, eyes wide on the attack: weight on the back (right) foot, she’ll tap jabs, then hook off the jab; shifting weight to front (left) foot, she’ll lean into crashing right up top, pounding back Vicki’s face; still on the left foot, she’ll hook Vicki’s body as blonde slides to her right along ropes. Pratt glassy eyed—busted up: too many flush, hard punches taken tonight and it’s all catching up with her. Blistering right hand sends Pratt in stupor to neutral corner—hands drooping, head lolling. Erica hops in a hook; clips the left uppercut; gets a more muscular hook onto chin: poor Vicki sitting ion turnbuckle, limp, helpless and THE REF STEPS IN! TKO10 Erica D.
After: Durance delighted, spinning away from devastated Vicki with an exultant smile. Pratt’s work against Cerra and Luttrell not a good preparation for the lankier, wiry Durance: if anything, all those shoulder to shoulder comic-con brawls have made Pratt a little less creative on the outside. “I was winking the fight with my jab,” Happy Erica says in postfight, “but we really wanted to stop Vicki tonight—a decision wasn’t going to do it for me, I felt comfortable, I felt safe inside where she was strongest, so I knew I’d win, but I just wanted the icing on the cake, you know?”
